When the Marvel Universe block on Disney XD kicks off on April 1, Spidey will have some help battling those bad guys in the form of a teenage Danny Rand, better known to comic fans as Iron Fist.

Says the show's producer Duncan Rouleau..

"The 'Ultimate Spider-Man' version Iron Fist is definitely a Danny, and not a Daniel, Rand. Unlike some other super heroes on his team, he isn't given to big mouthy boasts or wild displays of teenage angst. Danny embraces a go-with-the-flow attitude. Stepping out from the confines of K'un L'un into the madhouse of New York, Danny tends to look at everything with a wide-eyed sense of the new that offers a unique perspective vs. his more jaded fellow trainees. But don't be fooled, beneath that kick-back demeanor is the most deadly kick in the world...and, of course, an iron fist."

He also say that despite thsi version being a teenager, they have very much been influenced by Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction's acclaimed run on Immortal Iron Fist. What do you think? Will Rand make a good addition to the show?

Interesting. I hope that this show is good. But I'm starting to have my doubts. Still won't make a decision until I see the show. EMH looked horrible at first, but it was actually amazing.

They could've done better than this.
Agreed @Ironman53. Marvel Studios style.
avengingson - 2/28/2012, 2:41 PM
I just watched some of the 90's Spidey cartoons on Netflix. Unfortunately, they didn't stand the test of time for me. I used to really love that show.
novaprime - 2/28/2012, 2:50 PM

TimelessUnknown - 2/28/2012, 2:56 PM
Nothing wrong with the design, but the art style is just...odd.
FightAs0ne - 2/28/2012, 3:13 PM

"Unlike some other super heroes on his team, he isn't given to big mouthy boasts or wild displays of teenage angst."

Great -- another show turning well established characters into a bunch of bratty teenagers. Hollywood, you never cease to amaze me with the same old, tired marketing scheme: pandering to the lowest common denominator.
FlixMentallo21 - 2/28/2012, 3:27 PM
Wonder who's going to voice him?
TheFlyingGarcia - 2/28/2012, 3:28 PM
Dont you guys think deadpool should be in this show? I mean come on he needs advertisement. Alot of ppl dont know him.
Boogie138 - 2/28/2012, 3:33 PM
not sure how i feel about this show
luckylu - 2/28/2012, 3:44 PM
why does he have girlish looking hair?
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 2/28/2012, 3:50 PM
Hmmmm, I'll hold my judgment until I see the show myself. But from the looks of it, I guess the animation style of the show looks...okay.

@ironman53 - Hellz yeah to an "Iron-Fist" movie, Marvel Studios style. I would love to see him going up against hundreds of thugs in a room. Although I've hadn't read that much Iron-Fist comic books, he still a bad a** hero.

Sortis - 2/28/2012, 4:04 PM
Awesome!!!! Now give us Dr. Strange too!
Luigi - 2/28/2012, 4:08 PM
@grif: Then go buy the 90's show..
headlopper - 2/28/2012, 4:09 PM
'Fat Cobra' FTW.
BIGBMH - 2/28/2012, 4:11 PM
Not sure why they felt the need to make him a teenager, but the design looks fine. Still reserving judgement.
marvel72 - 2/28/2012, 4:29 PM
he looks amazing or is that the other guy who's meant to look amazing.
CrashTest - 2/28/2012, 4:39 PM
Looks like shit.
Jarvisjackrabbit - 2/28/2012, 5:13 PM
I love that Iron Fist is a "lame character" according to a guy who calls himself MoonKnight91. Iron Fist > MoonKnight
dellamorte1872 - 2/28/2012, 5:43 PM
they're trying to give I.F media/mainstream appeal. JOHNNY STORM or MATT MURDOCK shit even NICK FURY or CAP make more connection to this
ibravosp5 - 2/28/2012, 5:49 PM
I like the solo type spidey better. But I guess I can get used to team up.
enemyisyou - 2/28/2012, 5:49 PM
For those who said the costume is wrong, it's pretty much the same exact costume as the Steve McNiven costume from the Brubaker/Fraction run. Better than the white version he's rocking now in the comics. N
redsonjustin - 2/28/2012, 5:50 PM
looks good
supernaturalfreak - 2/28/2012, 6:10 PM
what is that awful haircut?
felixxx - 2/28/2012, 6:40 PM
yeah , the hair is not doin it for me. cool character but bad design.
Ironfistninja - 2/28/2012, 7:06 PM
hmmm this is ok only because it is a move in the right direction for the iron fist brand...now we need a movie..
ScionStorm - 2/28/2012, 7:47 PM
"What happened to my cool costume!?"
vamp21 - 2/28/2012, 8:14 PM
I hope this series lasts longer than Spectacular Spider-Man
Thelastdalek - 2/29/2012, 3:18 AM
Correct me if Im wrong but wasnt Iron Fist a teenager in the Ultimate comics annyway
TJpilgrim - 2/29/2012, 4:22 AM
Sorry to say it, but he wasn't. Iron fist is an adult in ultimate marvel.

I wish that they kept his ultimate costume though, instead of going 616. This cartoon doesn't feel very "ultimate" to me, most of the characters seems to have their 616 looks and origins... :/

Spider-Man, Nick Fury, Venom, and Green Goblin seems to be the only ones with the "ultimate-look".
Dedpool - 2/29/2012, 9:24 AM
Still sad they cancelled "Spectacular Spiderman" but this looks to be an interesting and fun replacement. I like the look though the belt should;ve been a sash and he should have the ninja tabby boots.
Phlegmbot - 2/29/2012, 11:00 AM
@ grif, re: "hate this show i saw the clip yesterday. i want the old 90s show on dvd now please. there will be no substitutes."

Seriously? YOU, of all the people on this board, LIKED the 1990s Spider-Man cartoon? You, who hates everything worth hating? Who I tend to agree with 99.9% of the time?! You LOVE the 1990s Spider-Man cartoon?? The one where they tried to make Spidey all dark and moody, gave Peter a Mid-West accent, would conveniently forget to utilize Spidey's Spider-Sense when it fit the story, AND would also slow down his spider-speed and lower his strength-level to fit a story -- never mind the song which seemed to be singing about a "Spider-blaghghhg"...whatever that is.

THAT's the show you miss?

I understand you were probably, like, 8 years old at the time, and it was the best thing since breast milk, but come on...that series was awful.

Spectacular Spider-Man on the other hand -- while I wasn't crazy about all the character designs (epic fails on Electro & Kraven especially), the writing and directing was really sharp.
ScionStorm - 2/29/2012, 12:13 PM
@NoRegrets- That is not his costume. That is a lameified version of his costume. That's not even his hair!
neonhero - 2/29/2012, 2:48 PM
I'll wait and see on the quality of the show. I for one like the 90's Spider-Man series and thought Spectacular Spider-Man was really entertaining as well. I was sad it got cancelled. As for this Iron Fist, he looks fine. The long hair is just to emphasize his 'youthful' appearance, like Nightcrawler on X-Men Evolution. I'm VERY glad they kept the no-slipper look. Those slippers are horrible.
Also, I'd love to see an Iron Fist movie, but I doubt it will happen for a long time, especially with Dr. Strange in the works. Two movies with plots involving mystical cities in the mountains seems unlikely. What should really happen is a Daredevil TV series with Iron Fist as a supporting character. Daredevil is perfect for TV. You get the superhero action, courtroom drama and office romance all in one. Make it now.
