Burton seems to be a divider here on CBM, personally I think he can be hit and miss - with really great hits and pretty damn terrible misses! I think this looks like it could be good fun though. What's the verdict?

A heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.
A stop-motion animated film, “Frankenweenie” will be filmed in black and white and rendered in 3D, which will elevate the classic style to a whole new experience.
In Tim Burton’s “Frankenweenie” young Victor conducts a science experiment to bring his beloved dog Sparky back to life, only to face unintended, sometimes monstrous, consequences.

Looks pretty decent. Never been a big fan of stop motion animation, but I'm looking forward to checking this one out.

@OdinsBeard

if the only films to make a billion dollars were good ones then the top ten list would have some glaring omissions

MEEEEEEEEEH Not gonna see it, theres a reason it was a short film. Theres not enough story to fill 90 minutes.

@WonderMoose

im assuming they worked out what to put in the other 60 mins. dont expect too much script wise tho, John August is more helpful than he is any good.

i was joking when i said about it being a silent film, and the mute thing was the garnish.

in terms of my saying what you said was stupid i assumed your were being sarcastic as it would really be an unneeded addition to the film lol soz =]

Disney has balls for making this. It's difficult enough to make adults see black and white movies yet alone kids. Not to mention it's grim plot and it's stop motion which isn't really necessary but it's always pretty damn cool when we get a good stop motion movie every four years.

Eh, Disney isn't afraid to go dark now and then. In Pinocchio, kidnapped boys scream for their mothers as they get transformed into donkeys and sold into slavery by a demonic figure, never to appear again in the film. They usually dispatch the villain in a gruesome way (impaled by the broken, jagged prow of a ship in "The Little Mermaid", for instance). Add that "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Coraline" were successes (the later without any involvement from Tim Burton) and dark stop-motion animation has a pretty good track record.

All black and white is certianly a risk though.

I enjoyed the live action film as a kid. I don't particularly care for black and white movies, but it works with these films.

It goes back to those old black and white monster movies.

And this looks like it will be pretty good.
