UPDATE: Michelangelo Voice Actor Says Michael Bay Is "Sodomizing" The TMNT Legacy

Bay's little "not mutants but aliens" bombshell has caused quire a stir among Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans, including the man who provided the voice for Michelangelo in the original movie. Updated with a message from Bay!..

At a recent media event the notorious director said the following in relation to the planned Turtles reboot in 2013 - "These turtles are from an alien race, and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely loveable". This was met with outrage from fans, and clearly voice actor Robbie Rist, the man responsible for Michelangelo's distinctive surfer dude voice in the first live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, is as pissed off as the rest of us.

Here are a few lines from a letter Rist penned to Bay along with a quote for TMZ..

"You probably don't know me but I did some voice work on the first set of movies that you are starting to talk about sodomizing."

Rist added, "I know believing in mutated talking turtles is kinda silly to begin with but am I supposed to be led to believe there are ninjas from another planet? The rape of our childhood memories continues ... "

Still, Rist tells TMZ ... "Everything I have said here could be off base and wrong ... He has made WAY more money at this than I have."

Umm, yeah I'd stick to your guns there mate. He's made more money that most people, doesn't mean he's not a complete hack - according to some at least! Seriously though, Rist might be going a bit overboard with the rape and sodomy stuff but there is no doubt that this decision amounts to nothing more than a brain fart. I'm all for changes from time to time but these are the Teenage MUTANT Ninja Turtles, the clue to their origin is right there in the name. It's going to be very interesting to see what Bay and co can do - if anything - to appease the fanbase after this.

Here is an UPDATE from Bay himself which was posted on his Shoot For The Edit message boards..

"Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world."

Hear that guys? The director of Pearl Harbor wants you to chill dammit! He's got this.

I dont get it. The comics already have everything they need. why go out of there way to change it around when all they have to do is literally copy the comics. All the hard work is already dond for them. It really pisses me off
StrangerX - 3/20/2012, 5:49 AM
I have a steel toed boot just waiting for Bay's ASS

Bane2099 - 3/20/2012, 5:52 AM
I wanna hear what the actual creators of TMNT have to say about this, Bay already pissed of a voice actor from the original films, how must the creators feel bout this?
Hawksblueyes - 3/20/2012, 5:53 AM
I'm not, and never have been, a TMNT fan. However, I absolutely HATE it when someone gets their grubby little fingers on anything that is as near and dear as this franchise is to people's hearts and feel compelled to rip it apart and change it up completely.

cmax - 3/20/2012, 5:53 AM
It just takes away from the core of TMNT. Making them aliens is pretty ridiculous - even more so than their original origin.
Bane2099 - 3/20/2012, 5:53 AM
He better not even be thinking of touching Thundercats, He-man or Voltron next
JackSass - 3/20/2012, 5:58 AM
lol The ONLY TNMT anything that is worth a damn are the original Eastman and Laird comics from the '80's.

All the rest of it is bunk and junk
AlexDeLarge87 - 3/20/2012, 5:59 AM
Not gonna watch if the Turtles are aliens.

Juggernaut I couldn't agree more. This is just more proof that Bay is a hack.

Hey look,I found the leaked script:

April o' Neil and Casey jones are two teenagers living their dream. They spend the day listening to metal, taking care of their rat, splinter and watching karate movies. But when an asteroid from the planet turtlesia crashes at April and Casey's home things get a whole lotta cooler. Why? Cause the asteroid is actually a spaceship containing four alien turtles. But it will get even more radical when splinter is mutant into a giant rat and the couple must teach the aliens the ways of humans through pizzas, the Internet and karate movies. All the while an alien called krang invades earth with his army of triceratops making the turtles actually become ninjas and kick a lot of ass while eating a slice of pizza.

and I thought it was stupid when he gave prime lips this has taken the cake
Jolt17 - 3/20/2012, 6:13 AM
Thank you, Mr. Rist, thank you. And if it's still possible, then I'd rather see this project being cancelled than moving forward with that Bay's words.

Hooray for (TAINT) Teenage Alien Interdimensional Ninja Turtles

NOW do some of you understand why I'm so pissed off when one of these worthless hack directors ruins something I love? I'm always called a "hater" and other juvenile crap, and told to accept this utter destruction of something near and dear to my heart. Now that this is happening to something near and dear to the hearts of many here, now do you understand where I'm coming from? Believe me, I sure as hell understand your frustration and outrage. I've seen it nearly countless times in my life.

While I enjoyed the original Eastman and Laird books (and I wish I'd had the money to buy them when they were out), I was honestly never a big TMNT fan- I was in college when the cartoon and the later comics came out, and a lot of that stuff just felt too kid-oriented for my taste. Still, I hate seeing anyone's favorite characters being butchered and assraped by Hollywood hacks. Turning MUTANT turtles (gee, it's right there in the group's name even!) into ALIENS is an incredibly ignorant idea.

Robbie Rist = FTW!

Michael Bay can go suck his own nads.
batfan175 - 3/20/2012, 6:43 AM
Wait, Michael Bay writes scripts for his movies? I thought it was always just one big explosion while I scream "booooooooooooooooooooooriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiingg".
RorMachine - 3/20/2012, 6:43 AM
Honestly if I had any type of respect or faith in Bay as a director/producer/person I'd be more willing to wait and see what else he has to say about it..but I don't, so [frick] him.
demonizer84 - 3/20/2012, 6:45 AM
lol your such a bunch of whining bitches seriously, aww bay boo hoo, like he cares look at the millions hes made, i enjoyed transformers, 2 was a bit weak and i did really enjoy 3, yes we all know the back story of the turtles bout the ooze yadda yadda yadda, but the word MUTANT can be used widespread, look at the history of movies, why cant a mutant come from another planet, i loved the first turtles film, the second was ok and the 3rd pure tripe, now im not really bothered what he does as long as he gets the rest of the movie right, personally i would like to see someone with a bit darker background direct it, and keep it like the first movie and not some campy ass movie for kids, but saying that we were kids once...... but one thing that does annoy me and its not just here but people bitch so much about stuff, do you what i do if i dont like something i dont watch it or dont listen to it, i dont sit around pissing and moaning and then go watch it anyways which is what most of you will do and probably love, i refused to watch daredevil because affleck was in it, the directors cut is amazing, i refused and bitched about bourne because matt damon was in it, when i did its one of my fav trilogy sets ever, im gonna watch it anyways wether it be piss poor or awesome time will tell there aint even been a screen shot or a cast added yet so there aint much to moan about
HavocPrime - 3/20/2012, 6:45 AM
Seriously, which creator would butt [frick] his own creations that millions of fans love, and adore?

Oh wait...

AlexDeLarge87 - 3/20/2012, 6:45 AM
I relax Bay if you tell me they are not aliens... or from another dimension!
Turtles are from planet earth and thats it! I dont have it any other way!
Fogs - 3/20/2012, 6:48 AM
Mark my words: this movie will never happen.

It will remain on production limbo along with burton's supes.
TrueRedBlue - 3/20/2012, 6:54 AM
Nope, I won't chill. Making them aliens was a total childhood rape.
cole33 - 3/20/2012, 7:00 AM
Bay should only be allowed to work on original material, let him make bad original movies.

Whats frustrating is that TMNT has a long track record of being popular on the original premise, so why change it. The built in audience wants a story that captures the story they know but done really well.

It's like Nolan taking over Batman and saying, I'm going to make Bruce Wayne a poor man who fights crime. Or Superman is now just a dude from Nebraska who gains powers from a piece of kryptonite that fell to earth.

Or, instead of making Anakin a sympathetic hero we come to love and cheer for, who slowly becomes corrupted by trying to do right by use of POWER, lets just make him a whiny little teenage b.itch that everyone is just annoyed by.

The problem, is that when you let someone like Bay handle projects with a built in audience, the box office numbers give studios and others the illusion the movies a hit because of Bay and not because of the built in audience.

political agenda
invaders from outer space are the twentieth and twentyfirst century's bogey men.

StrangerX - 3/20/2012, 7:03 AM
Don't tell me to chill.
DarkArts - 3/20/2012, 7:08 AM
Michael Bay has learned he can throw together anything he wants and as long as the CGI is good, it will make money.
NeoBaggins - 3/20/2012, 7:19 AM
""Everything I have said here could be off base and wrong ... He has made WAY more money at this than I have."

NOW he's on to soemthing.

MapleSt - 3/20/2012, 7:22 AM
@thetrojan I agree! Aliens are todays demons, djinns, shadow people, ghosts, spirits. Whatever keeps people distracted. Teenage Alien Ninja Turtles. LOL. I can't wait to NOT see it.
RorMachine - 3/20/2012, 7:24 AM
No he's not. Bay's only discernible talent IS making money..and doing so by marketing explosions and slo motion strippers to people who will happily pay to watch those things and think they are seeing an actual movie. If that's you, fine..but I won't be told to "chill" by this poisonous hack.
MapleSt - 3/20/2012, 7:28 AM
@NeoBaggins Yeah now he's on to "soemthing" indeed. Another shit project that will cost enough money to feed all the homeless people in our country. Woohoo. And just because someone makes a lot of money doesn't mean that they are producing anything of quality. My magic bullet sucks. And Mitt Romney is a flake. But if money rules all then he should be our next president 'cuz he is the richer of all evils right? Nevermind the fact that he has flip flopped on every issue within days sometimes. And nevermind that a movie should be successful based on things like a script or actual acting.
DioFoRio - 3/20/2012, 7:29 AM
everybody needs to chill the hell out....Bay respected the historical values of Pearl Harb...er...oh ...yeah fcuk that dude...BTW the first Ninja Turtles movie was actually one of the most faithful comic to movie adaptations ever...EVAH!!! if they all wore red it would have been perfecto
