Variety report that Sharlto Copley might be playing the villain in Spike Lee's Oldboy..

"District 9" star Sharlto Copley has been offered the villain role in Spike Lee's "Oldboy" and is in early talks to join Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Olsen in the revenge pic.

Copley got the attention of Hollywood after his turn in Distict 9. He then went on to play "Howlin Mad" Murdock in the big screen version of The A-Team. All has been quiet since, but it will be great to see such a talented actor on mustache twirling duty should he accept this role. Variety's report also seems to confirm that Elizabeth Olson has officially signed on as the female lead. According to them Copley will "play a mysterious billionaire out to destroy the protag's life, while Olsen will play a caseworker who helps Brolin's character investigate the past". Lee;s movie is said to be a loose remake of Chan-wook Park's South Korean original, while also taking inspiration from the Manga on which that movie was based.
