In the latest issue of Total Film Rhys Ifans speaks about his role as Dr. Curt Connors - and his reptilian alter ego - in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man. The actor describes the feeling of seeing the special effects in action as he is "mo-capped" into The Lizard on the screen. Also, when discussing his audition he reveals that Connors will be having just a bit of a hard time of things in the movie..

TF: How did you feel, seeing yourself as The Lizard?

RI: I thought, "What a night. That's up there with the biggest, that is..". I was thrilled. Beforehand, part of me dreaded the thought of sitting in a make up char for eight hours a day, but that wasn't the case at all. They did so many scans of my face I felt like a dartboard. The chilling thing is, in the clips I've seen, I recognize myself.

TF: What scene did you do for your audition?

RI: It was a moment where Dr Curt Connors is having a nervous breakdown, to say the least. I just went for it and ended up a quivering wreck on the office floor. They were obviously pleased but I didn't think for one second I'd get the part.

For the rest of the interviews, and much more on The Amazing Spider-Man be sure to pick up the current issue of Total Film.

"The chilling thing is, in the clips I've seen, I recognize myself." Really, cause I don't see his resemblance.

Webb cast him after seeing the way he ate a live goat.

@nailbiter111 remember most of what we've seen of the lizard is low quality promotion pics and toys, i think when we see the character in its entirety on the big screen we'll see what Ifans was talking about

lmao @Ralfinader

@SuspenseSmith- Well, this Lizard doesn't even look threatening. It looks goofy.
Tajin88 - 4/23/2012, 2:44 PM
If only Spiderman was in Avengers, then it would be really interesting for the movie itself. Hulk and Spiderman in a single movie and of course the other guys, that would be really fine, but maybe in the future.

@CaptainObvious - thats insane, he looks more menacing this way. It looks like a real cross between a lizard and human. I think it's the better design. I do wish he wore a labcoat though. We'll see, I bet we'll see it at least once.

@ralfinader lol! I dunno I think Webb was already sold from the scene in Hannibal Rising where he ate the bird raw feathers n'all & the little girl soup :P

@Tajin88: I know! I would be so much more excited for this reboot if it was part of MCU.. Since Spidey is the only property at Sony, it'd be great if Marvel could make some sort of deal with them.

After Lizard, bring on Mysterio.

I'm actually glad he doesn't have a snout. He would look cool if he did, but when he talked, he would look like a puppet. It would probably turn out like the dream sequence from "Jurassic Park III".

Why are the Welsh so fricking good at acting?!?!

@suspensesmith
I agree 100%. Can't be as bad as the Goblin look they went with. But if youve seen the makeup test for the original look... SHIT! That's scary looking. And you can tell at the eyes its still goggles.

So sad...

Lest we forget Ioan Gruffudd, Anthony Hopkins, Martin Sheen.
