Not much here really , but being starved of Supes news for a while now, anyone discussing next year's movie is of interest. All we know about Harry Lennix's character in Man Of Steel is that he plays General Swanwick. And for now that's all we're gonna know, because in an interview with Black Film Lennix doesn't go into any details on it. He does however, reveal that he has a "good role" in the movie and that he is a huge Supes fan, sounding very excited to be a part of Snyder's reboot..

Q: And I know you can’t say much on “Man of Steel” but how exciting was it to get that role?

HL: Oh man! “Man of Steel” is going to be a very big deal when it comes out in Christmas of 2013. I was like a kid in a candy shop. Superman has always been my favorite superhero, it’s not even close. I guess a close second would be Spider-Man, but I’ve always been a fan of Superman since I was a little boy. As a teenager I saw the reboot with Christopher Reeve and I’ve watched that many, many times, and the second one with Christopher Reeve many, many times. To be a part of something this traditional and this foundational to the American myth is a great honor and I’m pleased to say I have a good role in it and I was honored to have been a part of the whole process.

Note that Lennix says the movie will be out Christmas 2013, when it actually has a release date of June 14th. It was originally scheduled for release Christmas of this year so maybe that's where he got confused. Or, it's been put back again and it just hasn't been announced yet! Doubtful though. When asked to elaborate on his character, Lennix says he can't go into it. Swanwick isn't based on anyone from the DC comics (that we know of), but back when Lennix was announced as being cast in the role, it did confirm that the military would be playing a big part in the story. Do you think Swanwick will be friend or foe to Superman?

I loved Avengers, no doubt will love TDKR and TASM, but MoS is what I'm most excited about please, pretty please don't let me down.
SugarYumYum - 5/5/2012, 4:57 PM

Yeah, the lack of MoS news is really depressing.

SEEMS SO FAR AWAY..
TheMyth - 5/5/2012, 5:17 PM
Bring it!!! I wanna see Supes FINALLY kick the shit outta something in live action with a multi-million dollar budget. I don't even like Supes in the comics but I'm ready for this. I hope it ends up showing us that DC/WB isn't a one-trick-pony in their movie making.

Ror is right, sounds like he's got his dates scrambled from the recent push back.
tracydavis001 - 5/5/2012, 5:22 PM

vermillion - 5/5/2012, 6:00 PM
I remember this dude from The Matrix sequels.

Anyways, Superman is my favorite too. I'm really hoping this is THE Superman movie. Modern, using his powers to the full, and still keeping a sense of the farm boy he is and all that.

I'm excited. Henry Cavill was the fan favorite and he actually got the role. Plus he looks like Superman.
HughJasol - 5/5/2012, 6:00 PM
Bring it!
ThunderCougarFalconBird - 5/5/2012, 6:04 PM
@ Knightrider - agree 100% with you! Superman is the most misunderstood hero of this generation and I really hope this movie goes some way to fix that.
SamHell - 5/5/2012, 6:04 PM
Cant wait for it!

RIP Adam Yauch aka MCA
marknjoanna - 5/5/2012, 6:25 PM
is there any shot this movie will ease up the beat down marvel is putting on dc.
Knightrider - 5/5/2012, 6:27 PM
Exactly, hate this whole he is too powerful argument and not relatable, he sadly has had some bad writers, coupled with him being stuck 20years in the past however making him modern, with talented writing Superman can be shown as fully relatable
golden123 - 5/5/2012, 6:27 PM
You know the article gives us zero information when all the comments focus on one mistake.
headlopper - 5/5/2012, 7:31 PM
Hey! That's the dude from 'Dollhouse'.
Bartman87 - 5/5/2012, 7:39 PM
We might not even have a 2013
LP4 - 5/5/2012, 8:58 PM
@Banekill- Ya I got confused too when Lennix said reeve appeared in a "reboot"

Anyway, I really hope any reeve references will be kept to a MINIMUM in this one.

This film MUST stand on its own.
LP4 - 5/5/2012, 9:03 PM
Superman is the greatest superhero ever and he deserves the greatest movie ever. "Superman Returns" was a bitter pill to swallow. And the Avengers film shows how much more honor and dedication Marvel is showing to not only some of their 2nd tier heroes but also to their fans. If DC/WB can't give us a damn JLA film, then the least they CAN do is to get a truly EPIC Superman film off the ground finally. Really do big blue the justice he rightfully deserves
mrHJK - 5/5/2012, 9:53 PM
I knew the Avengers would be great. I know TDKR will be great. I bet TASM will be great (or at least pretty good).. But I hope Superman gets a great film in 2013..
TinyBirdcage - 5/5/2012, 10:13 PM
What the hell! Christmas 2013!!!!!!!!!????????????? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
jok3rsc0usin - 5/5/2012, 10:16 PM
Please let the teaser be attached to tdkr!!
GingerBird - 5/5/2012, 11:15 PM
With Nolan attached, this SHOULD be amazing.
Knightrider - 5/5/2012, 11:32 PM
I think have a complete solo film for Supes, then if they want to bring the heroes together for JLA, then Batman's reboot will need a more fantasy aspect. However I think they should do a Incredible Hulk with GL, and use his film to introduce a cosmic threat, which perhaps the corp could be aware of before it reaches Earth, perhaps Hal Jordan goes rouge to protect the Earth.
Knightrider - 5/5/2012, 11:33 PM
What I mean by an Incredible Hulk for GL is to reboot,, but not start again with Origin
TheDesertGorilla - 5/5/2012, 11:36 PM
Christmas 2013??? WTF, WB, I'm gonna die someday
SkaarJones - 5/6/2012, 12:46 AM
Dammit!! Summer 2013!!
jazzman - 5/6/2012, 3:21 AM
@LP4 and BaneKill77

he is talking about the old Superman film "Superman and the Mole Men" starring George Reeves.

so Superman with Christopher Reeve is actually a reboot.

@SkaarJones

how u did not know its coming out Summer 2013 its old news since last year.

getanaccount82 - 5/6/2012, 4:52 AM
Looking forward to MOS next year!!
NotThatGuy - 5/6/2012, 5:43 AM
He's wrong on all account: Reeve was the 1st Superman in a movie so it's not a reboot, it's Summer 2013 not Christmas and it's gonna suck because, well, because of the suit, Snyder, casting, rubber muscles, origin (again), Zod (again), slow-mo, etc.
thewolfx - 5/6/2012, 6:49 AM
god i hope this new superman turns out epic

because if not the fall dc and wb will follow
jazzman - 5/6/2012, 6:51 AM
@NotThatGuy

dont u read comments. Superman and the Mole Men is the first theatrical feature film starring George Reeves as Superman. Christopher Reeve Superman is a reboot and the most successful.
ralfinader - 5/6/2012, 9:42 AM
If this has some Zack Snyder action with Kryptonians, I will be a very angry person if the world ends Dec 21st.
JULEZ13 - 5/6/2012, 2:58 PM
I hope the teaser comes out with TDKR!! I'm more excited about the teaser than I am about The Avengers - especially more excited than I am to see Batman!

Teasers are important. We all remember how the GL teaser basically showed us what was in store with GL - THAT IT FRICKIN SUCKED!! lol

Here's hoping to an epic teaser.

Oh, and I might be mistaken, but didn't Kirk Allen - THE FIRST EVER LIVE ACTION SUPERMAN have a movie before Reeves's Superman and the Mole Men. Kirk Allen's Superman used to turn into a cartoon when he flew.
BruceKent1 - 5/6/2012, 6:05 PM
He helps Jor-El in some way.
ShadowlordSavage - 5/7/2012, 10:32 AM
@Azazel1 The set date is next year and they're not done with post Production?
JorL5150 - 5/7/2012, 1:12 PM
wow, a MOS cast member who remembered george reeves fondly, was there when salkind's STM came out and speaks highly of both while participating in a NEW superman series....

how odd. see, i thought that to be a superman fan you have to piss on tradition and give him armor. i thought superman's biggest problem was red trunks.

but here's this guy- participating on a NEW superman who remembers previous versions with respect and appreciation.

he won't last long here.
Arion - 5/10/2012, 10:04 AM
I don't think Lennix even knows what he's talking about.

From reading the passage, almost sound like he was drunk.

"Superman has always been my favorite superhero, it’s not even close" not even a complete sentence lol. I am hoping he is wrong about CHRISTMAS 2013 bc I'd be pretty pissed.
