Well, not everyone from Marvel's Thor will be back for the sequel it seems. Entertainment Weekly report that because of his commitment to filming the second season of ABC's Once Upon A Time, Josh Dallas will not be reprising the role of Fandral, one of the "Warriors Three".

The actor had the following to say to EW..

“I’ll be missing out on wearing all that hair! The timing wasn’t right. I’m bummed about it because I had such a great experience and great time making the first film and was really excited about coming back. Marvel and Disney tried to make it work. But because of my commitment to Once Upon a Time, I was not going to be able to do both. So I’ll have to hand the reins over to someone else. I love Marvel. I wish them all the best. I will certainly be first in line to see it. On the other hand, I’m going back to the best job on TV. I love it and can’t wait to delve in more.”

Ah well, I guess we'll be getting a new Fandral. At least it wasn't a larger role that needed to be recast. But what do you guys think? Will Dallas be missed as the charming rogue of the Warriors Three?

OdinsBeard - 6/8/2012, 4:23 PM
recast all three. Stevenson is a good actor but c'mon.. fat suit? reerry?
BlackCondor - 6/8/2012, 4:26 PM
Hope Stuart Townsend returns
RorMachine - 6/8/2012, 4:26 PM
Personally I couldn't give a shit, none of them brought anything to that movie..can't remember a single line of their dialog.
ThePowerCosmic - 6/8/2012, 4:27 PM
Send all three of them off on a mission for Thor 2. I was fine with them in the first one, but let's focus on the more important characters...Or have Thanos kill them...ha ha!

Anything with Thanos...is good with me.
superotherside - 6/8/2012, 4:27 PM
Not a biggie. This is what needs to happen with these movies anyway. The actors are not the character. They are portraying the character. As much as a writer or artist or anyone in the comics has done.

What matters is that he did a good job and still thinks Marvel is awesome.

It's just up to Marvel to recast another actor that will do the job just as good or better than he did.
95 - 6/8/2012, 4:29 PM
You won't be missed.
superotherside - 6/8/2012, 4:30 PM
ThePowerCosmic Perhaps a cameo but we don't need a full fledged Thanos as the main villain Thor has too many great villains to just dismiss. But a cameo would be great! :)
JatevinM - 6/8/2012, 4:32 PM
I'm hoping they recast him and give Hogun his facial hair
JoshWilding - 6/8/2012, 4:32 PM
Zachary Levi had to turn down the role in the first movie because of Chuck...would be great if Marvel cast him in the sequel now that show is over.
DoomXfactor - 6/8/2012, 4:36 PM
Replace all three of these garbages. They need actors with more charisma
DoomXfactor - 6/8/2012, 4:37 PM
Watching Thor: Tales of Asgard reminded me of how fun the Warriors 3 can be
SpiderManofHouseStark - 6/8/2012, 4:39 PM
recast all three im good with that ... none of them were how i pictured the characters ... not even close in my mind
SpiderManofHouseStark - 6/8/2012, 4:39 PM
doomxfactor hit the nail on the head ... im with you man
LucasMend - 6/8/2012, 4:41 PM
Here comes another recasting from Marvel! gogo
Tomontherun99 - 6/8/2012, 4:46 PM
That's a shame, I really enjoyed the character as well as the rest of the Warriors Three
PantherX - 6/8/2012, 4:52 PM
In good old Marvel fashion!
JonathaNisMagnuM - 6/8/2012, 4:52 PM
Meh...He did a good job as Fandral but it's a character that I didnt worry about too much..btw they need to put a stache/goatee on Hogun idk what was up w/ that
AlexDeLarge87 - 6/8/2012, 5:00 PM
He was good Fandral.

How about if they go with more older actor now. Maybe Kevin McKidd perhaps. Would be great to see him and Ray together again.
AlexDeLarge87 - 6/8/2012, 5:00 PM
And yeah Hogun needs mustache. Looks more badass with them.
write33 - 6/8/2012, 5:10 PM
not to be mean, but, I hope they recast all the Warriors 3. they were the weakest part of the movie, in part because they were given very little to do, but they didn't do much with what they had.
thetrojan - 6/8/2012, 5:36 PM
volstagg the voluminous was not voluminous!
bad casting

Fandral was Fandral...great casting

The Warriors Three were in Thor? News to me.

On another note, my Captain America and Batman tattoos have had numerous "confrontations" regarding their current, respective theatrical representations. Reading this site only adds fuel to the flames. I'm not looking forward to July as much as I should, gonna be worse than the presidential election in October. Glad I decided against the Romney and Obama tattoos, only heroes on my skin, jury is still out on Romney, but we all know that the current US prez is about as heroic as a mongloid Care Bear).

For those that want to know, Cap has all the bragging rights and Batman is acting like quite the little bitch, impatient as he is as most of you know. Cap keeps rubbing it in that they handed (not literally of course) the main bad guy in Bats film (deservedly) an award! Touché to Cap for the low blow, but in Bats defense, I don't think a Nazi will ever get an award from the US, unless of course Retardo CB gets re-elected, then who knows what the real life Crown Prince of Crime will do next.

Note to editor - I'd rather the good people that make up this site argue, peacefully and respectfully of course, about real issues, not which CBM is greatest, hard to sleep with Cap and Bats as it is. Oh, and take said argument to the foxnews or CNN comment boards. ;)

Vegas has the current odds that more than 10% of readers will read the entirety of my above post at 13-1, currently taking bets. All proceeds will go to the Care Bears with Mental Retardation foundation.
soforizo - 6/8/2012, 5:47 PM
The funny thing is that Josh is really awful in OUAT.

On the other hand, I thought he was pretty good in THOR considering his limited exposure... but then again THOR 1 was my first exposure to Thor and that whole universe, so maybe that has something to do with it.

SFCamerica - 6/8/2012, 5:48 PM
This just in... Comment boards have been removed from Foxnews articles due to the constant and always peaceful (can't say that with a straight face!) "debates" between the Nolanites and MakeMineMavel crowds.
BIGBMH - 6/8/2012, 5:58 PM
Nooooo! Wait a second. He's only a minor character. Unfortunate, but he's got steady work. Things seem fine for him and the movie won't really be hurt by his absense.

BlockBanester- "Who cares? Nolan movies >>> Marvel Studios"

Seriously? You clicked on an article about a casting choice concerning a movie you're not interested in just so you could insult Marvel Studios movies? Grow up. There's a difference between having an opinion and going out of your way to be obnoxious. That's what's separates us sensible comic book fans from you Nolanites and the Marvelites.
SFCamerica - 6/8/2012, 6:06 PM
@BigBMH - now you know what prompted my diatribe that took a completely unplanned turn towards my utter distaste of the US CinC..
SFCamerica - 6/8/2012, 6:08 PM
Agree with Dr DURF.
mgeoff88 - 6/8/2012, 6:18 PM
He did OK in the role, but I think he could've been better.

@JoshWilding Dude, are you serious? I had no idea Zachary Levi almost played Fandral in Thor. That would've been awesome.

I agree, I hope Marvel will try to hire him again now that Chuck is over. Dam, I miss that show.
ckal - 6/8/2012, 6:22 PM
goomba-

Hogun appears of a different race than Asgardians in the comics because, well, he is of a different race.
MARVELPSYCHO79 - 6/8/2012, 6:23 PM
I liked Josh as Fandral.Marvel should hire a British actor for the role.@JohnthaNisMagnuM I too think that Hogun needs his mustache. Also Hemsworth needs to be clean shaven from now on when he plays Thor.I'm tired of him with the beard and he looks old enough now to play Thor without a beard.
Watcher - 6/8/2012, 6:26 PM
too bad.

The guy was perfect.
MARVELPSYCHO79 - 6/8/2012, 6:28 PM
@mgeoff88 Stuart Townsend had the role of Fandral first but Marvel fired him because he kept coming to rehearsals late.
shiftyKlD - 6/8/2012, 6:31 PM
goomba- uh hogun has been asian, possibly mongolian, in every thor comic i have read
Watcher - 6/8/2012, 6:39 PM
@ Goomba: Dump Hogun The Grim??? No freaking WAY!

You know he once saved Asgard single handed?

He is the best warrior of the Warrior's Three and as a matter of fact you can't have The Warrior's Three without him.

I'm sorry but I could never think of a character like Hogun as a "token". I don't give a damn what race he is, he needs to be in these movies.

Also they need to bring out Balder and they need to explore the relationship between Thor and Sif.
kevberg - 6/8/2012, 6:39 PM
NOOOOO....hes the one character of the three they got right! Stevenson was the friggin worst. hes absolutley terrible.
ironknight - 6/8/2012, 6:52 PM
I bet Zachary Levi could do it now, since Chuck is over. I think that was the reason he dropped out last time.
Supes17 - 6/8/2012, 7:31 PM
Marvel to Casting Agent:
"YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!:):):):)"

"What?"

"RECASTING SPREE!! :D :D!!"
Supes17 - 6/8/2012, 7:32 PM
Katie Holmes was in Batman??
Gerrit - 6/8/2012, 7:51 PM
I don't see the need to replace him for another actor. Just don't use the character in this movie and find some way to make sure he can be in the third.
ironknight - 6/8/2012, 7:55 PM
Oh my gosh, Im psychic.
Ace101 - 6/8/2012, 8:10 PM
That sucks i liked him in Thor, thought he was a good portrayal of the comic book character in the short amount of screen time they had. They could always fatten up volsatgg to more of fat bastards size then ppl would be happy with that lol. hogun + stache= awesome sauce.

But who we really need in thor 2 is Balder.
TheWebSlinger - 6/8/2012, 8:19 PM
Don't blame him, he probably gets more spotlight on that terrible show.
NeoBaggins - 6/8/2012, 8:43 PM
Shoulda been Stevenson. Probably the main blemish on an otherwise great movie.
Fogs - 6/8/2012, 8:46 PM
Lol, funny how nobody here gives a shit about him.
chuckg313 - 6/8/2012, 9:34 PM
didnt like the warriors three....they were pure corn
EarOne - 6/8/2012, 9:39 PM
well...considering it's not too big a role, like say Bruce Banner and James Rhodey, i don't think recasting ALL Warriors Three would be a problem with ANYBODY.

With Fandrall..well, Dallas wasn't the first choice anyway.
Volstagg..yeah..i just don't feel Ray Stevenson's suited the comic relief role all that well. he's the one i'd want recast the most.
Hogun..IF they wanna keep it Asian, then i'd cast someone a bit BIGGER, physically..more imposing, in body built and face.
StormLoganSummers - 6/8/2012, 10:11 PM
That's too bad. He wasn't a huge part of Thor, but I liked him. I especially liked his deleted scene. I thought they could have incorporated it into the sequel, but perhaps they still can with another actor, though it won't be the same

l0rdleg0las - 6/8/2012, 10:39 PM
Once upon a time is filmed for ABC which is a Disney owned station as is Marvel Studios. how couldn't they figure something out?

it's not like he is filming for separate studios and couldn't get time away from one to do a different movie at another studio. it is the same head honchos.
