Viggo Mortensen Offered Lead In THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER

Haven't heard too much on this in some time, but Bloody Disgusting have a very interesting update regarding the planned tale of Dracula's journey to England..

last we heard, Dog Soldiers director Neil Marshall was attached to helm The last Voyage Of The Demeter - the story of the doomed the ship that carried Dracula’s coffin from Transylvania to England - for Millennium Films. Sir Ben Kingsley and Noomi Rapace were also said to be on board as the ship's captain and a stowaway named Anna Billington, but nothing was ever officially confirmed.

Now Bloody Disgusting report that both actors "may" still be attached, and that Viggo Mortenson has been offered the lead role of Henry Clemens. The site also reporst that the latest script draft by Lowell Cauffiel will "place the voyage center stage in a tale that is reminiscent of the first movie in the Alien franchise, in which a crew is slaughtered one-by-one by a mysterious passenger."

If that cast comes together, I would definitely be very interested to see this one. Vampire stories are a dime a dozen these days, and there are another 2 or 3 Dracula themed flicks either in production or at the planning stages as it is, but this sounds like it could be an original take on things. More updates as we have em.

Sounds good. :)

Last i heard from this Jude Law was rumored to star in it. But Viggo is better in my opinion. Hope he takes the role.

This could end up being really scary if they take inspiration from Nosferatu and keep Dracula always in shadows like Ridley Scott´s Alien.

Movie needs to have brooding atmosphere.

Sounds cool, we do need a good Vampire horror film to get rid of the shit fest that is Twilight.

Sounds very promising. The vampire craze may be dying out a little now, I just hope it can spawn a REAL vampire movie before it fades.

@grif-yeah, it's related to that movie but even more so, it's from the original novel of Stoker's Dracula. The Demeter is featured in the novel as well as the movie. This movie is just focusing on the events that took place during the voyage of the Demeter from Eastern Europe to London.

Really looking forward to this, esp if the film makers are comparing it to the original Alien. Love the thought of that. Could be very scary IF they keep Dracula in the shadows, like some else said, and NO CGI!
