Early Logo Designs For MARVEL'S "Phase 2" Movies Leak

Badtaste.it attended a Disney convention with John Lasseter today in Riccione Italy and managed to get snaps of some logos for the likes of Thor 2, Iron Man 3, Captain America 2 and yes, Avengers 2!..

Now these aren't exactly mind blowing - they've basically just stuck the number 2 on the end of the original movie logos - but they are just very early designs and will of course be subject to change. Nice to get a look at em though I'm sure you'll agree..

Cool stuff. Glad to see MS moving forward with Phase 2.
Dynamo - 6/27/2012, 10:58 AM
I wish they were more imaginative with these titles...
SageMode - 6/27/2012, 11:02 AM
Let the MCU EPICNESS commence
spideyxmenfan307 - 6/27/2012, 11:10 AM
They should name the avengers sequel: Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. That sounds more epic.
elcaballerooscuro92 - 6/27/2012, 11:14 AM
ot captain america 2: the man out of time, or iron man 3: armored assault, or thor 2: Surtur's inferno
Theodora - 6/27/2012, 11:15 AM
what ever happened to a good old fashioned sub title? added a number onto the films original logo is so boring.

DanteSparda - 6/27/2012, 11:16 AM
Those are the most awesome 2's I have seen this week, well perhaps Thor could have used the greek 2 (II).
beetheb - 6/27/2012, 11:17 AM
They added a number onto the original logos... and this is supposed to be news? I really hope these aren't the finalized titles, because.... boooooooriiiiinngg.
RorMachine - 6/27/2012, 11:17 AM
They will probably have different titles/subtitles eventually..or not! Either way these are just temporary designs I'm sure.
Jolt17 - 6/27/2012, 11:19 AM
Well, that's certainly...not much. I believe they'll come up with something a lot greater in the final product, though.
santoanderson - 6/27/2012, 11:19 AM
Damn. I was hoping for Ant Man and Black Panther logos.
hartley07 - 6/27/2012, 11:21 AM
what about hulk 2???? frickers.
dahamma - 6/27/2012, 11:21 AM
im glad to see these. it reminds me of the logos we had for iron man thor and cap. it was cool to see
TopCat89 - 6/27/2012, 11:21 AM
I prefer the character's title for the sequels:

Iron Man: Armoured Avenger

Captain America: Super Soldier

Thor: God of Thunder
Bigred20 - 6/27/2012, 11:23 AM
Avengers 2 won't even happen for another 6 years maybe longer
StormLoganSummers - 6/27/2012, 11:24 AM
They should make the titles a little more interesting:

Captain America 2: Super Soldier
Thor 2: Journey into Mystery
DragonofDarknessXIII - 6/27/2012, 11:25 AM
No Hulk 2? Bah.
Screwger - 6/27/2012, 11:25 AM
Aha. Looks like previous logos but with numbers. Bring on Avengers 2.
SageMode - 6/27/2012, 11:27 AM
SuperDan89 - 6/27/2012, 11:28 AM
^ lol
beetheb - 6/27/2012, 11:30 AM
@DoubleD: I hope it is 2015, because if they try to ram an Avengers sequel through, A) They're going to lose Joss Whedon, and B) It's going to be shit.

Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 - 2013

Cap 2 and Black Panther(?) - 2014

Avengers 2 - 2015

... works a lot better than cramming Avengers 2 into 2014, plus it gives fanboys and general audiences another year to get jacked up about it.
jazzman - 6/27/2012, 11:30 AM
they really need to put titles to their movies. just have numbers aint good.
superotherside - 6/27/2012, 11:31 AM
I guess it is easier for audiences to know it's the same film though. Still they could have been a bit more imaginative.
PaulRom - 6/27/2012, 11:32 AM
LOL Grif!

The logos aren't bad. Though, I'd be disappointed if Avengers 2 and Captain America 2 are the final titles.
7166charlie - 6/27/2012, 11:32 AM
All good judt hope whedon is on board for avengers 2
siggisuperman - 6/27/2012, 11:34 AM
I like that they just have numerical titles. It implies that they intend to many many movies, and having complex titles for each one would only make it too much.
cantfakethefunkdj - 6/27/2012, 11:35 AM
black panther is missing =P

IM53

Cool deal bud. Returning the gesture
Spidey91 - 6/27/2012, 11:41 AM
I would like:
Iron Man: Armored Avenger
Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty
Thor: God of Thunder

cool nonetheless,MOAR MARVEL! :D
CaptainMaximum - 6/27/2012, 11:41 AM
I see Grif revealed his Phase 2 comment
AutobotCommander84 - 6/27/2012, 11:42 AM
If they do put subtitles, don't make them cheesy like "Rise of Mandarin" or something like that. Those sound like the title for an episode of a cartoon. Do what the Paramount marketing did for the Transformers movies. "Return of Megatron" or "Search for the Matrix" would've been terrible, but "Revenge of the Fallen" sounded a lot better cause it had a double, or even quadruple meaning. The Fallen would exact his "revenge", Megatron would rise up after "falling" at the end of the first film, and the Decepticons would return to exact their revenge on the humans.
DanteSparda - 6/27/2012, 11:42 AM
I think many people are taking this "leaks" too seriously, you don't see a Black Panther or Dr. Strange logo because those movies haven't been officially announced yet, unlike all the names in the screenshots, also if any of those movies were to have a plot-revealing sub-title it wouldn't be there either, Marvel isn't that stupid with leaks.
SageMode - 6/27/2012, 11:43 AM
MONKEYBALLS

Nnpah, let it Commence for Phase 2 since Phase 1 is over.
AutobotCommander84 - 6/27/2012, 11:44 AM
@DoubleD For comic book fans yes, but this blind assumption that all people think Avengers is the best movie in the world is naive at best.
RorMachine - 6/27/2012, 11:45 AM
Double D, stop trolling please. When I delete your comment, that's not an invitation for you to post it again!
TheRealEnrico - 6/27/2012, 11:45 AM
I hate it when studios lazily stamp number to their sequel. I can't stand these uninspired names!

Re-title it or give them a new sub-title! Anything besides stamping number on them as if the audience is to dumb to know that they are watching a sequel.

I can't think any good sequel to a film or franchise that used a simple numbered title besides Godfather pt 2. (At least they used "part 2")
sKeemAn - 6/27/2012, 11:46 AM
I'm with everyone else on this. Marvel add interesting titles, they make it sound better
SageMode - 6/27/2012, 11:46 AM
*Nah
smlshin - 6/27/2012, 11:52 AM
More to look forward to.
sKeemAn - 6/27/2012, 11:53 AM
When you put a number next to a movie most people believe there is an ending. There should not be an ending to these movies. Do em like the comics and have subtitles most of us can figure out that its the second and third movie
DioFoRio - 6/27/2012, 12:01 PM
AWESOME!!! It's like the original titles...but with a number after it!!
SeaSerpentine - 6/27/2012, 12:05 PM
"Captain America 2: Death Too Soon"
TheRealEnrico - 6/27/2012, 12:06 PM
How about The "Invincible Iron-man"

Iron-man: Armored Wars

Iron-man:Demon in a Bottle etc.

and The "Almighty Thor"

Ragnarok:Rise of Odinson

Thor: Return of the Fallen Sun etc

or

Captain America: Winter's Soldier

Captain America:A Man Out Of Time

Captain America: Civil War

Captain America and The Howling Commandos

Captain America and The Invaders

I could do this all day...

Durf - 6/27/2012, 12:11 PM
Um, underwhelming. But these are most likely the initial designs and not final.

Excited as hell for Phase 2!
95 - 6/27/2012, 12:14 PM
(red) Thor logo = Surtur?! :D
Weeton - 6/27/2012, 12:16 PM
@TopCat: I like Captain America: Super Soldier.

I would be happy with these:
'Almighty Thor'
Avengers: Assemble
The Invincible Iron Man
thalidomide - 6/27/2012, 12:20 PM
Marvel is unstoppable.
TheRealEnrico - 6/27/2012, 12:21 PM
Think about it. Most film sequels that out perform the originals critically and financially usually do not have a number stamped at the end.

The Dark Knight, The Lord of the Ring Trilogy, X2:X-men United,The Harry Potter franchise and others.

Creativity is usually rewarded. People who take short cut usually end up hurting in the end.

@sKeemAn I agree with you. I believe you(they) trap yourself(themselves) with these numbered entries.

Look successful franchises like James Bond.
CaptainObvious - 6/27/2012, 12:23 PM
Does it have to be called Marvel's Avengers 2? We all know Marvel makes these movies. So why do they insert themselves in the title?
