New THE LONE RANGER Set Pics See Johnny Depp In Stunt Mode

We have already seen one officially released image from the set as this "train jump stunt" was being filmed, now have a look at a bunch of unofficial ones which see a shirtless Johnny Depp as Tonto, rehearsing what is sure to be an action packed sequence..

The Lone Ranger, directed by Gore Verbinski and featuring Johnny Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer as John Reid, the Lone Ranger, is a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid, a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.


The Lone Ranger is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and hits theaters May 31, 2013.

I thought the bird on the head would have been part of a ceremonial type thing not an everyday thing. I can't watch this I wont be able to take Depp as Tonto serious.

lol i can't believe you guys. that bird is legit.

it's johnny depp playing a native american. it's ridiculous on it's own. why single out the bird? which is the best part about all of this.

Depp explained the origin of Tonto's look in an interview. He got the idea from a portrait painting that depicts an Indian with a crow in flight over his head:

Nordberg@ Yes, the idea comes from a very well-known Native American painting of a Crow Indian. It doesn't mean that is what they wore and how they looked on a daily basis. That is what I am more concerned with. I don't mind a few "battle" scenes where he puts on the face paint and bird, but more than that will be a deal breaker for me.

I find it strange that while there seems to be a surplus of shots of Depp as Tonto, there seem to be almost none of Hammer as ol' Kemo Sabe. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

That isn't what they wore. In the painting, it *looks* like the bird is on the guy's head when it is in fact in flight behind his head. Making the bird into a headdress is all Depp.

@norberg and thats were he got the idea, only he made it a head dress. You people have to stop bitching about stupid stuff, get over it! I think you people are bitching cause his not native american, and if your doing that then you should be hateing on iron man 3 cause Ben Kingsley isen't aisan.

So get over your selves it will brobly look better when the trailer comes out.

Im a big Lone Ranger fan and i'll be seeing it.
