Beginning October 25th, John Carpenter's Halloween will terrify a whole new generation of moviegoers. The movie is expected to have a pretty wide release, so far as we know in the US only. Justin Beahm’s new mini-doc You Can’t Kill The Boogeyman: 35 Years Of Halloween will screen with it. Here you can see a trailer for the re-release, featuring that iconic John Carpenter score. If you have never seen the original Halloween, I suggest you do so this October..

Compass International Pictures, Trancas International Films, Screenvision, and HalloweenMovies.com are proud to present the one sheet for this October’s U.S. theatrical re-release of John Carpenter’s 1978 masterpiece, HALLOWEEN. The poster, designed by artist Austin Hinderliter, marks the return of THE SHAPE to cinema lobbies across the country, presenting the ultimate evil in shadow and autumnal oranges.

The greatest horror movie of all-time!
JonathaNisMagnuM - 9/23/2012, 9:53 AM
NerdyGeek took the words right outta my mouth...THE GREATEST HORROR FLICK OF ALL TIME. THE STANDARD, THE BLUEPRINT, & STILL BETTER than any of the crap we get today
TheSkywalkingKnight - 9/23/2012, 9:56 AM
JonathaNisMagnuM: Hell yeah brother!

Halloween was a great horror film! Every time I hear the Halloween theme song...I get goosebumps.
Kayo - 9/23/2012, 10:04 AM
you can't kill the Boogeyman

One of my favorite movies.
darkmetal - 9/23/2012, 10:26 AM
Great movie obviously-but I'm going to rate the trailer itself. And this trailer shows that the Halloween franchise is in very poor hands.
Anyone with a simple editing program could do better. The trailer is piss poor and doesnt even make me want to pop in my DVD.
bhorwith22 - 9/23/2012, 11:01 AM
I liked Rob Zombie's film a lot better, although his second one sucked.
indigobolt956 - 9/23/2012, 11:13 AM
i actually like the rob zombie remake a lot better and im not a nig supporter of remakes but ya totally this is a horror classic love rereleases!!! They should do that instead of making remakes to movies that have already been done justice
SageMode - 9/23/2012, 11:31 AM
I just don't really see the point in re-releasing movies onto the big screen. Unless there's additional footage not on a directors cut on DVD
Ceejay - 9/23/2012, 11:37 AM
@indigobolt956 - I agree, the Rob Zombie remake is a far superior film but his follow up is utter shit!
MatchesMalone1989 - 9/23/2012, 11:45 AM
The original. The one that defined the genre. Rob Zombies take was good. But he changed up how Michael moves. He made him more Aggressive. Carpenters Michael was more stealthy. Like a evil, psycho Solid Snake. The way he moves around without getting CAUGHT. Thats the Michael Myers I like. Quiet and Deadly.
marvel72 - 9/23/2012, 11:52 AM
one of the greats,it can hold its own against the classics.

-the shining
-the exocist
-an american werewolf in london
-the thing
-the omen
Fumlez - 9/23/2012, 12:41 PM
The theme song still gives me chills after all these years.
Salemdog - 9/23/2012, 12:43 PM
Just think, this came out in a time when they didn't have nation wide release. The films went district to district and were picked up word of mouth and due to critical press. Halloween was lagging and things were looking bad then a couple of big name critics praised it and it took off. Made around 70 mil at the time. Course it was made for about 100,000 grand
RorMachine - 9/23/2012, 12:43 PM
"I agree, the Rob Zombie remake is a far superior film.."

Joking, of course?
hope420 - 9/23/2012, 12:43 PM
It's nice when a classic movie gets re released and doesn't have all kinds of new extra crap added to it! Thank you!!!!
Dragun - 9/23/2012, 12:56 PM
I still have to look over my shoulder when I go throw the trash.
lokibane2012 - 9/23/2012, 1:00 PM
This is the stupidest idea for a re-release ever. It'll bomb.
AbeVigoda - 9/23/2012, 1:13 PM
^ I agree!

Putting one the all time greatest horror films back in theaters in time for Halloween!? What were they thinking!???
lokibane2012 - 9/23/2012, 1:24 PM
^See you when the news arrives of it bombing harder than Green Lantern, Battleship and Oogiloves put together.
AlexDeLarge87 - 9/23/2012, 1:33 PM
Michael Myers. Scariest psycho killer ever made. :)
Gave me nightmares when i was kid.

Didnt like Zombie´s version cause it it tried to humanize Michael and give him reasons. And almost every character was asshole you just wanted to die. Each with their own thou.
supermarioworldE - 9/23/2012, 2:06 PM
This might be the first Halloween I'll pay to see in theaters since H20.

Gotta love Carpenter.
Thegoddamnbatman52 - 9/23/2012, 2:25 PM
This is the greatest horror movie of all time, more horror movies need to learn that they can be legitimately creepy and disturbing with out being gory and over the top
kitboy33 - 9/23/2012, 2:26 PM
@Lokibane2012, you do realize that even if this movie only brings in 1 million dollars, it triples it's production budget. Did Green Lantern do that, LOL?

OptimisticPrime - 9/23/2012, 2:57 PM
Would love to see this. I believe it's playing at one theater in my city. I used to watch this every Halloween day. Need to again this year, one way or another.

A simple explanation for Michael's killings is that he killed Judith, his older sister, because she neglected him. Maybe she was supposed to have taken him out trick or treating, and being a kid, possibly emotionally disturbed, stabbed her, not realizing the ramifications.

The following years of incarceration really screw him up, and leave him hating everyone for throwing him away and further neglecting him.

He breaks out, a socially undeveloped young man, He follows his instinct, not realizing, or not caring that society frowns upon stalking.

Anyone who stands as a threat must be killed, so he doesn't get incarcerated again. Maybe he's attracted to the three young women, but doesn't know what to do about it, only that they too must be silenced.
Crossbones - 9/23/2012, 3:12 PM
The remake was amazing. I absolutely HATE the original. It's not even a good movie, let alone a good horror movie.
DioFoRio - 9/23/2012, 3:35 PM
@bhorwith22...GET OUT.
DioFoRio - 9/23/2012, 3:36 PM
@Lokibane....Follow bhorwith22 to the door
DioFoRio - 9/23/2012, 3:38 PM
@TheLizard1 not sure who keeps letting you people in but...Get out....to the door...no , no ,no...don't pause with that lost puppy dog look...just get out
WallyWestNAM - 9/23/2012, 3:47 PM
most older people with a respect for the classics will be first in line for this. and then all the hipster wannabe teens who think they're horror fans will be like "oh! Rob Zombie's was a remake??? I should go see this!!!" and be thouroughly disappointed lol
catman - 9/23/2012, 3:49 PM
Who cares??? I want Superman the Movie to be re released on the big screen :)
DioFoRio - 9/23/2012, 3:55 PM
and as for whoever this Indigobolt character is....the door the others left through is too good for you...you leave through the door of "when gay native american children pick their own name" door. "Indigobolt"lol
DioFoRio - 9/23/2012, 3:57 PM
@Catman..they should release in one week. A new movie each day. One horror from the 70's a cbm from the 70's drama so on and so forth. in the big screen. that would be awesome. make the tix a lil cheaper.
MrReese - 9/23/2012, 4:11 PM
I am soo watching this!!!!!!!!!!! XD
Jollem - 9/23/2012, 5:09 PM
they gonna keep the part in where michael is pimpin' around in a crown vic or whatever that car was?
jessepostal - 9/23/2012, 5:11 PM
@whoever said it, the black Xmas remake is even better than the original. That doesn't happen too often. Rob zombies Halloween gave micheal rhyme and reason which took the point of the movie right out of it.
jessepostal - 9/23/2012, 5:59 PM
Hellbilly deluxe, hillbilly deluxe was brooks and Dunn
ImJustTheBassPlayer - 9/23/2012, 7:01 PM
The original will always be the best!
SamHell - 9/24/2012, 12:02 AM
thats my ringtone
RorMachine - 9/24/2012, 12:53 AM
"With Carpenters you have a mystery with the character

is he possessed??..supernatural??

With Zombie's the answer is no...he was just a snotty kid who needs a hair cut :)"

This x 1,000000..0000..000.

00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000..you get the idea.
AlexDeLarge87 - 9/24/2012, 4:05 AM
TheRedHood@ The Thing, Alien and Halloween are sharing the number one spot in my list.

Those three had real impact on me.
jessepostal - 9/24/2012, 5:18 AM
@wolverine, dont get me wrong i respect and like the original black christmas, but something about the remake is just twisted and different. And its a different story
SUPERBATSPIDERMAN - 9/24/2012, 1:13 PM
This is by far one of the greatest horror movies of all time. It is about 40 years old and it is still creepy as hell. This movie, Alie, Jaws, and maybe Night of the Living Dead are probably in my top favorite horror films.
