A heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous. A stop-motion animated film, “Frankenweenie” will be filmed in black and white and rendered in 3D, which will elevate the classic style to a whole new experience. In Tim Burton’s “Frankenweenie” young Victor conducts a science experiment to bring his beloved dog Sparky back to life, only to face unintended, sometimes monstrous, consequences.

The movie features the voice talents of Winona Ryder, Martin Short, Catherine O'Hara, Martin Landau, Charlie Tahan, Atticus Shaffer, Robert Capron and Conchata Ferrell and will hit theaters October 5th, 2012.

Can't wait to see this - I'm hoping for something dark like Coraline.

Saw it over the weekend via advanced screening, good fun. Not as dark as Coraline but one of Burton's best efforts in recent years. Stays mostly true to his original short film but the addition of several new monsters took me by surprise.

I guess that the giant turtle is a reference to Gamera?
Darthzilla - 10/1/2012, 4:52 PM
Gamera reference for the win!

@RexBlazer1
Probably.

I seriously don't get why they remade this movie.

@FlixMentallo21:

Tim Burton originally tried making it with real people and it was a short and it didn't have any of the special effects that people use nowadays.

It got bad reception so he remade it, that's why.

This is one of the stupidest [frick]ing ideas for a film. Burton is an overrated idiot.
RexBlazer1 - 10/1/2012, 7:46 PM
@AcidicHeart:

I know that Burton isn't one of the best director's out there, but he's not the worst either. He has made some good films in the past.

@RexBlazer1
Wait, the original 1984 film was a SHORT? AND directed by Burton?
DrDoom - 10/1/2012, 8:35 PM
I'm not saying he's the worst. Just very mediocre.

I always enjoy taking my son to movies like this. He does stop motion in his free time and eats this stuff up.
