PROMETHEUS Easter Egg Ties The Movie To BLADE RUNNER

Is Ridley Scott planning on a crossover between his other classic Sci-fi movie and the universe featured in Alien? It seems possible given the following Easter Egg from the U.K. steelbook release of Prometheus..

The following is a memo from Peter Weyland (Guy Pearce) in which he talks about his "mentor and long-departed competitor". No names are mentioned, but it's pretty obvious to any fan of Ridley Scott's Blade Runner that he talking about Eldon Tyrell, head of the Tyrell corporation, who were responsible for creating the Replicant's minds and memories..

This could just be a little nod to the fans of course, but it might also be something else - we know Scott is working on a sequel to Blade Runner, could he be planning on tying that universe - onscreen - into the one he has created with his Alien (kinda) prequel, Prometheus? Only time will tell, but if that was to happen, how would you guys feel about it?

Now all we need is for Ripley to be a descendent of Gi Jane and everyone's a winner :)

It works just fine as a hint.. Just like the alien cameo in the Predator2 movie.. When they actually made the alien vs predator movies, those were horrible... As long as we don't have Harrison Ford vs Xenos, I think all should be fine
Spidey31 - 10/6/2012, 12:18 PM
That's cool
NostalgicYouth - 10/6/2012, 12:22 PM
You know when I saw promethues the futuristic furniture and architecture did look Blade Runnerish, and definitly wouldn't mind if they both existed in the same universe

marvel72 - 10/6/2012, 1:01 PM
i think i would rather they were all seperate universes.

blade runner own universe

alien own universe

prometheus own universe introduces us to a new alien species not linked to the xenomorph.
teabag - 10/6/2012, 1:05 PM
Grif@ lol :P

IM@ lol idk bud i think that goes to the Wonderer for saying Gladiator is overated and a ripoff of Game of thrones lmao :P
Keldor - 10/6/2012, 1:12 PM
A Blackhawk Down on Zenomorph Prime would be cool, starring GI Jane Riply as The Gladiator, The Robin Hood of American Gangsters. Starring Thelma and Louise.
SuspenseSmith - 10/6/2012, 1:19 PM
This was news to people? I guess this confirms it, but I kind of guessed they all existed in the same universe.
csdot - 10/6/2012, 1:43 PM
hasnt Scott always said that Alien and Blade Runner existed in the same universe? 30 years late on this guys...
jessepostal - 10/6/2012, 1:49 PM
Hahahahaha I always thought she was a little hussy in bull Durham
Marxman12 - 10/6/2012, 1:59 PM
Just because Blade Runner and Prometheus belong to a shared universe does not mean that we'll see the two crossover on film. The events of Blade Runner happened long before the events in Prometheus.
csdot - 10/6/2012, 2:35 PM
its the other way around, Prometheus takes place before Blade Runner. Alien and Blade Runner take place at the same time period.
laughterman26 - 10/6/2012, 2:44 PM
THIS COULD BE A POSSIBILITY- [and if this actually turns out to be true remember that i said this unless someone has already said it]

"David could be a replicant".
murl1956 - 10/6/2012, 3:18 PM
The movie "Soldier" was also tied into the Blade Runner universe: a Spinner flying car in a pile on the junk planet, and a reference to some of the places mentioned by Batty in Todd's records. From IMDB.com:

"Writer David Webb Peoples has said that Soldier is a "side-quel" to Blade Runner (which he also wrote) because it takes place in the same universe and in fact the vehicles used by the Blade Runners - spinners - are also used in Soldier."
AnungUnRama - 10/6/2012, 3:27 PM
BR is set in 2019. Maybe Guy Pearce as Mr Weyland will be part of BR2. That would at least somehow explain, why Scott casted a young actor for that part and aged him by using horrible make up, instead of casting someone ´who is really in his 80s.
AlexDeLarge87 - 10/6/2012, 3:28 PM
IM DYING HERE!!xD

All they need is a parallel universe of fantasy creatures.

ThePowerCosmic - 10/6/2012, 4:01 PM
I like the connection. I always assumed those stories were connected in some way.
KingEmperor - 10/6/2012, 4:21 PM
Replicants vs. synthetics!
lokibane2012 - 10/6/2012, 4:31 PM
Ugh, why does everything need to tie together? Blade Runner was a perfectly self-contained movie. Leave it at that.
smartell511 - 10/6/2012, 4:47 PM
NOOOOOO!!!!!
sameoldthing - 10/6/2012, 8:02 PM
Most of you who hate Prometheus need to realize that there hasn't been an "excellent" Alien movie since the first two.

All the others were pretty bad but with Ridley coming back there was hope & Prometheus was much, much better than the other related films.

Prometheus was not really bad but far from excellent as it should have been. Hope the sequel & sequel to Blade Runner will convince us Ridley has still got it.
ThePowerCosmic - 10/6/2012, 8:05 PM
@ lokibane2012

Because people like a big universe with connections. I think it makes the films more interesting and gives them more depth...if done right (Not like Aliens Vs. Predator). It is not a big jump for Blade Runner and Alien. Both worlds are very dark and highly involved in advanced technology. It is entirely possible within the limits of these films.

Just my opinion.
ThePowerCosmic - 10/6/2012, 8:07 PM
@ sameoldthing

Great comment! I agree, accept I would consider Prometheus an excellent film, just not as legendary as Blade Runner or Alien. A few tweeks would have made it legendary IMO.
Fogs - 10/6/2012, 9:41 PM
Nice easter egg. And I think that's all it is, btw.
