Jamie Foxx In Talks To Play Electro in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Sequel!

Variety just dropped this bombshell: Apparrently Django Unchained actor Jamie Foxx is in "early talks" to suit up as Electro in Marc Webb's sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. Details aside from that are sparse, but read on for what we have..

It seems we can now stop referring to Electro as being "rumored" to be the villain in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, as according to Variety, Sony are meeting with actors to play the role. One such actor - who although the site say is only in early talks, seems to be a shoe-in - is Jamie Foxx, next to be seen as the titular character in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained. They don't have much more info on it, but word round the campfire (Latino Review) is that Homeland actor Damien Lewis was also up for the role at one point.

Oh, and there is this Tweet from the man himself of course..



Marc Webb is set to return to direct The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for Sony and Columbia, with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone returning as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Gwen Stacy, and Shailene Woodley looking likely to play a young Mary Jane Watson. More on the Foxx casting as we have it.

I have no problem with changing a character's race (when done well), nor do I have a problem with Jamie Foxx, but...seriously? He doesn't feel like Electro. AT ALL.

This is a weird ass casting choice...we'll just have to see where this goes.

I'm not sure about this, yes he is a great actor and all but he doesn't scream electro to me he's too old, when I think electro I think a guy around late 20's early 30's the dudes 44, very strange casting decision but we'll see what happens

I think Jamie Foxx would have been a great Rhodey after Terrence Howard was let go.Foxx and RDJ had great chemistry in Due Date plus he's a good actor.But I can't see Foxx as Electro.What is Marc Webb thinking?

I'm fine with Foxx, and I'm fine with race change, but in the after credits scene it pretty much seemed like Electro...but he was white so...that wasn't Electro? Who the frick was it then??

No. Just no. Big fan of Foxx and don't care at all about the race change but he is def not Electro. He's not villain material period. And ya he would've been a great replacement for Terrence Howard as Rhodey. Better than Don Cheadle anyway.

I'd rather see them experiment with casting of secondary characters than go out of their way and change a flag ship character with 50+ years of history behind them...I'm sure a lot of people will be able to tell the character I'm referring to, lol

This is so random... But, hey, when Foxx tries, he delivers big-time. This could be interesting, though I always imagined Electro to be younger.

@JDuke25 Exactly.This movie is starting to sound like shit.I was going to give this sequel a chance since MJ and Harry are going to be in it but after hearing this casting decision,I can't see this movie being a huge success or beig good.I could care less about this sequel now.

I could care less about any race change for a character like Electro but, Jamie Foxx? He's a good actor but he doesn't make sense for a character like Electro.

Unless it was just his Halloween costume.

He was Dressed as Electro for Halloween.....does that means he wil play Electro in TASM 2, in that Case... I was dressed as Venom!!! Sony, did you read this?

Fantastic actor and I can't wait to see him as Electro. It would be awesome if Lewis signed up to play Norman Osborn!

...Well that was unexpected.

I'll wait and see how Foxx is as Electro, but the after credits for ASM is a bit odd. If the guy at the end wasn't Electro, then who was it. And how did he escape?

Personally I think he has some great acting skills however I can't see him as Electro. I'd like to see some other candidates first.
