First Snippets Of Footage From PACIFIC RIM Feature A "Kaiju Attack"

Yet another viral vid has appeared online for Guillermo Del Toro's upcoming creature feature, and in it we have our first (very brief) glimpse of one of the giant monsters know as a Kaiju, as it is seen attacking the city via news report. Check it out..

By Mark "RorMachine" Cassidy - 11/28/2012

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes - a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi) - who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Pacific Rim will be released on July 12, 2013.

I'm excited for this...the Comic Con footage was [frick]ing awesome and Idris Elba's speech gives you goosebumps.
KryptoniteSmoker - 11/28/2012, 1:07 PM
That looked pretty awesome.Hope this coming out doesn't hurt the production of the new Godzilla movie though. Then again what a great year it would be if we got 2 giant monster movies :D
wearethewalkingdead9 - 11/28/2012, 1:07 PM
@kamen, i have no idea how to do screencaps or else i would but i paused on that scene and its def kaiju and looks like a whale with either a horn on its head or thats its face.
wearethewalkingdead9 - 11/28/2012, 1:10 PM
what i get from this (and i know they hardly give us anything) is that the kaiju attacking the bridge looks like a giant turtle. the scenes ive paused it on show what could be a shell and the screen cap that ror posted looks like a turtles face
KidDynamo0 - 11/28/2012, 1:11 PM
It would be really nice, if you guys would stop putting youtube clips inside of Springboard to just generate money.
wearethewalkingdead9 - 11/28/2012, 1:12 PM

It's not high-def, but it's still a real good shot.
RorMachine - 11/28/2012, 1:19 PM
To me it looks like a mix between a Great White and a squid.

It's [frick]in Sharktopus!
wearethewalkingdead9 - 11/28/2012, 1:19 PM
@rabb1t, thanks a lot man. it looks like its been dead or they just blew it to pieces.
AlexDeLarge87 - 11/28/2012, 1:22 PM
Cant wait :P
RABB1T - 11/28/2012, 1:23 PM
Ror hit the nail right on the head. Like a Great Whites head and a squids body. @Walkingdead, you could also be right- it's either a squid or they blew its guts out.
wearethewalkingdead9 - 11/28/2012, 1:25 PM

Spidey91 - 11/28/2012, 1:48 PM
c'mon guys, this is a viral video,is not like the movie will be in this news/POV format.

I expect a "HOLY F*CKING SH*T AWESOMESAUCE" reaction from everyone once the trailer hits :P
Commentator - 11/28/2012, 1:49 PM
Guys, I'm pretty sure this is just a marketing technique and the shaky cam will NOT be in the final product. Just relax. GDT has got this
charlie2094 - 11/28/2012, 2:01 PM
@ wearethewalkingdead9

That's a link to a space on your own computer, not an web address so no one else can access that but you. I use a Macbook and haven't tried uploading an image, but I imagine it'll be exactly the same as through any other computer. Think you just need an image url or something, never tried.
faceeraser44 - 11/28/2012, 2:03 PM
This is looking more and more badass!! GDT is gonna melt our faces off with this movie for sure.
wearethewalkingdead9 - 11/28/2012, 2:04 PM
@charlie2094, thanks man. its a lot different than my old pc but im sure one day ill figure it out haha
laughterman26 - 11/28/2012, 2:21 PM
omg so geed !!!!!
Nomis1800 - 11/28/2012, 2:25 PM
I can't wait !!! This is gonna be epic!!!
charlie2094 - 11/28/2012, 2:27 PM
@ wearethewalkingdead9

No problem :) The way you go about it is the same whether PC, Mac. I used to use something called "photobucket". I'd sign in, upload my photo and then be given a list of links. Actually, you've made me interested in doing it, so I signed back in after two years! :P So below, I'll show you how I USED to do it, there may always be an easier way now :P

Photobucket

So I uploaded the photo I took onto Photobucket, and all I did then is copy the "html code" you can see in the bottom right of that screenshot and pasted it here, hopefully resulting in....

Photobucket

Hope this helps! Like I said, haven't done it for a couple years, may be quicker ways now :)

Spectre94 - 11/28/2012, 2:27 PM
The presentation at Comic-Con was mindblowing. I am so looking forward to this and hope they release the trailer soon!
CharacterAssassin - 11/28/2012, 2:34 PM
I'd say commentator was short about 450ft from his description.
wearethewalkingdead9 - 11/28/2012, 2:37 PM
@Charlie2094, thanks again man.
charlie2094 - 11/28/2012, 2:41 PM
@wearethewalkingdead9

No problem, anytime :)
PapaMidnite - 11/28/2012, 3:29 PM
I trust in Del Toro, but PLEASE don't be like Battle of LA... what a pile of shit was that movie.
themidnightking - 11/28/2012, 3:36 PM
Shit just got real
aztecRaingod - 11/28/2012, 3:46 PM
Im a huge fan of Kaiju and science fiction, I want this movie to succeed, but I gotta admit this footage looks cheesy.
maxxgone - 11/28/2012, 3:47 PM
2 or 3 years of hearing about this beginning the filming process...another year before it comes out...and they still cant give us a [frick]ing bone and show us a clear image of the monsters or these 'jaegers'???

maybe im bias because GDT just bugs the shit out of me, but come the [frick] on. i know there's a marketing plan to build up hype but just show us something already. quit jerking us around.
jjk2814 - 11/28/2012, 3:51 PM
Ooh...I'm excited for this now!!!
aztecRaingod - 11/28/2012, 3:56 PM
I just got to some good looks at the creature on the aircraft carrier.

It actually looks like at least two different creatures, a giant shark head with ribs, and behind that there is another set of ribs pointing upwards with a giant squid or guts inside of it.

They are probably hauling the remains of several creatures they managed to kill.
