According to the respondents to a Times online survey, Joss Whedon's epic superhero smash hit is the most overrated feature film of 2012. The movie scored a whopping 85% of votes, with Ridley Scott's Prometheus coming in second with just over 4%. The rest of the movies in order were Brave, Ted, Project X, The Master and Cloud Atlas.
Project X is overrated? Doesn't a movie have to be rated first! Anyway, what do you guys make of this? I always found the term "overrated" to be misapplied in a lot of cases, but there is no doubt that The Avengers was very well thought of by the majority of fans and critics, and thus would always be in line for some backlash. Personally I think the film barely puts a foot wrong in any department, but each to their own. I am surprised by the vast number of votes though, and as big a fan of the movie as I am, I'm VERY surprised that The Dark Knight Rises didn't make the list at all
