The nominations will be announced this morning at 8:30 a.m. ET/5:30 a.m. PT by host Seth MacFarlane and actress Emma Stone at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. You can watch the live feed below, then drop back for a full list of the noms and to see if we had any CBM joy afterwards. For now sound off below - do you think Christopher Nolan and The Dark Knight Rises have any chance?

marvel72 - 1/10/2013, 5:05 AM
well the dark knight rises didn't get nominated for best picture/film at the golden globes or the bafta's so it could miss out here.
RorMachine - 1/10/2013, 5:07 AM

Is there like a voice over category, or voice actor category? Something along the lines of that. As Tom Hardy's dubbing may turn out to be a blessing in diguise
CaptShipwreck - 1/10/2013, 5:24 AM
I like how this site post every single dribble about the awards that the dark knight rises are trying to get Yet yesterday on the people's choice awards Robert Downey Jr. Won the award for Best Actor AND Best Superhero yet no mention whatsoever here on this comic book movie site ....
Kayo - 1/10/2013, 5:30 AM
emma stone is a hottie.
MrEko - 1/10/2013, 5:30 AM
I sincerely doubt TDKR gets a non-technical nom.

Hathaway & Cotillard are both locked down for Les Miserables and Rust & Bone respectively, Caine & Bale stand a chance if Bradley Cooper & Robert de Niro aren't nominated as Best Actor & Best Supporting Actor for Silver Linings Playbook (Highly unlikely)..... eh but it's whatever, I enjoyed the mess out of the movie, that's what really matters ;)

Now if Life of Pi doesn't get a Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director and Best Picture nomination.... I am starting a riot. That movie is severely and criminally underrated.

TDKR isnt worthy of any nominations or even critical acclaim. Over time many critics that initially gave it good reviews will downgrade its standing just as they did with "Return Of The Jedi."
True it had some good actors and some did well with their material. But the material was utterly meaningless and NO ONE in the film broke the new ground Ledger did with the Joker.
And Ledgers performance in TDK was so great it gave TDKR a credibility it did not deserve and an expectation of greatness it did not achieve.
Many CBM fans have gotten the wrong idea about Ledger's Oscar win. Ledger's win was not a recognition or acceptance of the CBM genre. It was recognition of Ledger and Ledger alone.

TDKR was a 2 hour and 45 min. plea of accolades and Awards from Nolan. He too got the wrong idea about the acceptance of the genre. Simply throwing good actors into a CBM doesnt make the film great, Oscar worthy or even entertaining as we saw with the finished film.

Nolan's TDKR was a borefest that was so chaotically written that it contradicted each of the previous films of the trilogy and then turned on itself.

There have been many bad CBMs but not with a 250 million dollar budget and not with such a promising cast.
Considering that makes TDKR in many ways the worst CBM ever made. And its undeniably the biggest CBM letdown ever.
And now that Nolan has done his "Return Of The Jedi" his "Howard The Duck" may be next.

DrHorrible - 1/10/2013, 5:47 AM
I would say I'm shocked that TDKR didn't get nominated for a SINGLE THING, but, honestly, it didn't deserve anything. ;)

AlexDeLarge87 - 1/10/2013, 5:50 AM
Few surprising nominations.

I hope Life of Pi or Django wins best picture.
MrEko - 1/10/2013, 5:50 AM

DoctorWeird - 1/10/2013, 5:55 AM
Affleck Best Actor and Argo Best film...but no Best Director....ok then :S
capMO - 1/10/2013, 5:57 AM
Did ANYbody actually think TDKR would be nominated for best pic? if so, you're delusional, even more so if you'd actually expect it to win
95 - 1/10/2013, 5:59 AM
I guess I'm hoping Skyfall and Django Unchained hold their ground against the "popular" choices film bloggers are predicting. And I want to "cheer" on Marvel's The Avengers, but I think the performance capture in The Hobbit was a bit more impressive. Plus Life Of Pi looked impressive in the trailers, at least. I don't know... just let Prometheus, lol.
Squish - 1/10/2013, 6:00 AM
Huge ROFL on all you nolanites. You seriously are all delusional.
95 - 1/10/2013, 6:00 AM
Just let Prometheuslose, lol.*
Warcam - 1/10/2013, 6:01 AM
I'm more surprised TDKR wasn't nominated for a RAZZIE...and this is coming from someone who loved TDK.
Egan - 1/10/2013, 6:05 AM
@ManOfSuperguy Avengers get a nomination in best visual effects.
95 - 1/10/2013, 6:05 AM
I have not seen all of these films, I'll start by renting Frankenweenie and Beasts Of The Southern Wild this week.
marvel72 - 1/10/2013, 6:08 AM
for your consideration the dark knight rises

oscar committee "F*CK OFF!"
JordanKing - 1/10/2013, 6:12 AM
The Avengers gets nominated for best visual effects.

TDKR gets naff all.

As. It. Should. Be.
ToTheManInTheColdSweat - 1/10/2013, 6:13 AM
^^^^^what the [frick] are you talking about, tdkr got a best visual effects nom. lmbo.
marvel72 - 1/10/2013, 6:14 AM
