The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he's encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won't leave the planet without Riddick's head as their trophy.

Riddick also stars Karl Urban, Jordi Molla, Matt Nable, Katee Sackhoff, Bokeem Woodbine, Dave Bautista, Conrad Pla, Raoul Trujillo, Nolan Funk and Keri Hilson, and is set to hit theaters September 6th, 2013.

I always kinda looked at Diesel as Hollywood's underutilized heir apparent to Arnold, Sly, and Willis. Much moreso than Statham. Just never really worked out. He didn't get the movies he needed to make that happen. I like him, though. And I like the Riddick character.

Much of this sounds like the exact same story as Pitch Black - take Pitch Black and minus the crash landing and the rest of the survivors and just add 2 merc ships and wa-la, the story is the same!

Pitch Black was really good, Chronicles Of Riddick was really bad..so we'll see about this. It doesn't inspire confidence that they couldn't come up with a better title though.

I'm a fan of the riddick movies. Yea chronicles didn't really do anything spectactular or amazing. But it was an ok movie. It wasn't terrible like most ppl say. A lot of ppl just hop on the band wagon and say yea yea it was crap. Nonsense. It was an entertaining lay back eat a snack action flick. Sure the plot was abit out there and could have been toned down, but we have gotten far worse movies. It def has rewatchability, which is a check mark in my book. But hey everyone has rights to their opinions. This is just mine.

The first one was ok, the sequel was a piece of shit IMO! I'm really afraid about this third. Inspite Riddick is a good character, the film has a "made for TV" vibe IMO.

Riddick is such an awesome character, but i thought Pitch Black was ok and that Chronicles was horrible. However, the video game, Escape From Butcher Bay, is probably the Riddick at it's best. It was an awesome yet underplayed game.

So, are they ignoring the second film? Seems like a whole movie worth of plot could take place between him becoming "king" and somehow being "left for dead on a sun-scorched planet."
