Ryan Reynolds Isn't Fazed By Playing Hal Jordan And Deadpool

The star of both of next years comic book movies says 'There's No Rule' Against Playing Deadpool And Green Lantern.
Ryan Reynolds is not the first actor to portray characters from two different comic universes(Halle Berry, James Marsden, Mickey Rourke) but hes certainly portraying two of the most prolific! And appearing in both movies with such a small space of time between them is definitely a first.

But Starring in two competing films in 2011 doesn't seem to faze Reynolds, however, especially because the properties come from opposites sides of comics' Big Two publishers.

"There's no rule that says you can't play two different characters in two different comic-book universes," Reynolds told Entertainment Weekly. Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld pointed out Reynolds' comment on his Twitter site.

Depending on the shooting schedules of "Deadpool" and "Green Lantern", we may well see Reynolds doing publicity for both at the same time! And not only that..these may not be the last comic characters he plays either, judging by his keen interest..

"There are so many interesting comic book characters out there," Reynolds said. "I would love to do others."

Personally i have no problem with the whole DC/Marvel doubling up. But, that doesn't mean seeing Reynolds mug on the publicity trail for both wouldn't potentially be overkill. Guess we'll find out.

Reynolds really shouldn't be GL. He isn't GL. Deadpool is almost type casting, but damned fine casting none-the-less. I could see him in other high profile comic character roles and not pause, but GL? Come on. Deadpool is a perfect fit. Flash, is decent too. GL? Um no.

ah well, good for Reynolds! whether we all like him for GL or DP you cant blame him for saying this because he's gonna be appearing in two major superhero movies within the space of a year so he's bound to be pretty pleased, lol! I think that he's gonna be great in both roles anyway!

Lets just hope he don't put his A$$ UP in the Air again and make a good DEADPOOL!

As for WARNER BROS,, I trust them a thousand times more than FOX! ; )

I think its cool he is interested in other comic books. But if he starts playing everyone then we can rule out any crossovers, because he would be the only star in the movie lol.

I think he's pretty damn smart for doing this. I love Deadpool so I hope they don't mess it up, but it is 20th Century Fox. Look what they've done to the X-Universe. I still go and see the movies but they have completely gone off course with the characters. I think Reynolds is covering his bases. If one movie fails to impress, he always has the other to fall back on. Either way it will be a win for him. Hopefully both films are good though.

they should let him do Lantern first - then that way they'll give the De@dpool movie more steam and maybe more money and leniancy to be R since he'll be an even bigger name after Lantern.

The studios would feel more comfortable knowing that more people would see Reynolds in an R rated movie that may not have the biggest mainstream audience out there.

Kev@ I believe deadpool will be second as it is not ready for production yet. And also I agree that fox should be smart and go second, since deadpool is a lesser known character, Reynolds rise in starpower would be great.

he could pull off a young arrogant hal...after smoking aces we saw he has a serious justice side to him...and he is a fit for deadpool...who i still think fox will screw over as they did b4...also i always brand reynolds a poser cuz i thinks he says stuff to win us over but really doesnt care how the character turns out...so if he bails on d-pool he will justify me..i hope i am wrong

I don't know, I think he'll do good at them, he is a good actor, just has to not be so smarmy in GL but in Deadpool thjat would be a must, and he is smarmy...That's why he would have been so great as Wally West.

As for others characters...I can't really see it...

In the ever raging war of Marvel vs. DC it looks like the winner is Ryan Reynolds. Personally I'm glad to hear he is still playing Deadpool, and I'm okay with him as Hal Jordan so I guess I'm a winner too. NICE!

OK, he's exagerating, he's already doing two superheroes one from each side and he wants a third.It's obvious that he doesn't care about any of the characters, he's just doing it to further his career.If he did care he would stuck with only Deadpool. It's obvious he's not going to get a third superhero, because after doing Hal(Warner won't give him a second superhero and Marvel won't cast him again because he's already Deadpool.

I think some people are apprehensive about Ryan Reynolds playing GL because they're only focusing on his tight-lipped sarcastic comedic side, but the man does have some range as an actor. The Nines is good proof of that. I'll admit it though, I'd rather see him as The Flash, but there's no going back now.

The real question now is... Who should play The Flash?

i say law of averages ya know? 1 outta 2 has to be good. i just dont see it being GL i would not cast REYNOLDS for GL or TIMBERLAKE or WEDDING CRASHERS GUY. in my opinion they all suck as choices. WORTHINGTON at least made sense, but look at how that worked out? we got BARAKAPOOL 2 ELECTRIC BOOGALOO BY FOX (LOL) OR VAN WILDER HANGING OUT POLICING THE UNIVERSE! one unfortunately will be marketable and profitable

It could definately work. I agree with GUNSMITH deadpool face is rarely seen since his face is all [frick]ed up so we won't be able to see ryan's face in deadpool even if we did it'll be [frick]ed up makeup. Green Lantern's face is exposed so that's where we will see ryan's face but with GL mask on the eyes plus GL does have completely white eyes i mean there seems to be no problem.
How bout this ready................ryan as an asgardian in THOR or a dwarf a very buff dwarf or frost giant lol

I dont see any problem with Ryan Reynolds playing GL and even if (god forbid) the movie sucks there are other GL's to take Hal's place in other movies.

That certainly seems to be the case, Gunsmith. And the funny thing is the character he was supposed to be playing doesn't look 'comic book" at all. Think a vampire version of Columbo.

This is interesting. For the last couple of years all we've heard is that Ryan Reynolds was in the lead to play The Flash. He did a great job with Deadpool for the amount of time he actually got to do something.

And this may also be a boon in disguise: if Reynolds does Deadpool first they will probably keep on the same writers, director, and continuity within X-Men: Origins, thus creating an inferior Deadpool. Having GL first would mean a greater amount of time between the Deadpool and Origins, and so we might get a change in personal (as the originals will probably be busy with different projects at the time), and hopefully, a better Deadpool movie.

im excited that he will be playin both characters, he`s a great actor, and ya I agree that deadpool should come out after green lantern, no matter how bad i want to see it. I do`t want them to ruin it. I have little faith in fox, but, if reynolds gets his way, deadpool will be amazing.

its all good as long as the two characters are so vastly different. the characters of deadpool and gl are so different that it wont be like seeing the same performance with them both. this should prove just what kind of acting chops reynolds has. but as i said, well know once and for all if reynolds can vary the roles. deadpool will come natural to his normal acting style, but gl will be the clincher. i hope he does good.

plus, the movies do belong to completely different universes, so who cares?!

IMO, i totally disagree with this, and i'm with OSIRIS, THERE SHOULD BE A RULE!

My only consolataion is that Deadpool is a masked character.......but, i guess i'm in the minority.

i dont think theyre should be a rule on how many characters you can play i mean if they are 2 totally different characters in different universes i mean no one had a problem when he was cast as deadpool even though he already played hannibal king in blade 3 and theyre in the same universe but it worked out fine just as long as he doesnt get every role im cool with it only bein a couple guys from totally different realities and imran routh was the boyfriend of the gay pornstar(justin long one of my favorite actors) in zack and miri lol

@osiris..i agree there should be a rule. its not that people are in both a dc or marvel movie its the fact that they play two different heroes which is the problem. and not so much that, just that fact as why people want him as hal jordan. thats why i liked the batman franchise now because bale wasnt really big at the time when it first started, or how they got brandon routh to play superman regardless of how gay and stupid that movie was. honestly he is ruining GL for me considering im currently reading some GL. I hate you reynolds and you are going to feel like crap when this movie will have to be rebooted because you thought you were slick at playing two different heroes, should have stuck to deadpool, which i might add wasnt all that good either. the wolverine sucked horribly. damn hollywood.

Theres no rule that says you cant. Just like at one point there wasnt a law that said you couldnt steal. Rules are written for a reason hehe. I just hope they dont write the rule after these movies and I hope they are awesome and amazing!
