Noel Clarke Wants To Make Black Lighting And Supergirl Movies

The award-winning British actor/writer/director has expressed his desire to make the aforementioned movies on Twitter...while watching Catwoman!

"Was he insane?" I hear you say. Well, while his movie Adulthood premiered on a UK satellite channel, writer/director and BAFTA award-winning Noel Clarke for reasons best known to himself sat down to watch the universally lambasted Catwoman movie. In fairness, the odd time I do the same thing when it's on tv to see Halle Berry in that suit but that's a different story:)

Clarke twittered while he watched...

OH MY GOD! How shit is CATWOMAN?

RE: CATWOMAN Unbelievable rubbish. I wanna slap the director. Classic making a film about a character he actually knows nothing about.

So DC let this idiot make and ruin Catwoman but that won’t let me make BLACK LIGHTING or SUPERGIRL. Unbelievable… So angry, going to bed.




DR Who fans will recognize Clarke as Mickey(Rose's boyfriend) in the revival of the TV show. But he also wrote "Kidulthood," and wrote and directed "Adulthood." Both movies were very well received and he has a sci-fi thriller in the works called "4321" and will star in Neil Marshal's "Centurion."

Maybe when he is seen in something closer to the comic book movie genre, DC will let him make these movies. He certainly seems like a comic fan, and he has the talent, too.

I'm not familiar with Clarke, but I think Black Lightning is very cool. However, he is not the kind of character that could carry a movie. He would sure do well in a JSA movie.

I think Doctor Who is pure comic book genre.Hell, it currently has it's own comic book!

I would imagine watching Catwoman would anger any director, who is a comic book fan, to want to make his own movie.

I also think Smallville missed out on using him.He's a teacher who is from Metropolis.They could have introduced him while Clark was still in high school.It practically writes itself.

Haven't heard of this guy before. But he is right about Catwoman being a piece of sh*t. No one can argue with him there :)

kenny38606, your right about Who, but its not a movie, he didn't direct it, and he only had a very small part. Besides which, he was pretty crap in it! Its unclear what went down between himself and DC anyway. Maybe we will hear more about it.

An SUPERGIRL! Hell Yeah!!! Although id i want a LAURA VANDEROOT series every week lol, id love a movie with CULTBERT or something! Make it Dark, an have the MARTIX supergirl in it, nice!

Heck though, i could'nt see him as BLACK LIGHTNING though maybe SUPERGIRL? Heh heh. I mean STATIC SHOCK, but does he want the part of BL??? Probably, depends on his american accent??

Noel Clarke is probably one of the best up and coming writer/directors in the UK at the moment. He seems to know his shit when it comes to filmmaking, so I say give the guy a shot. One, because i'm not too interested in either of the characters mentioned, so it wouldn't get on my back too much if they were shite. 2, if he's genuinly passionate about having a crack at it, with his ability and drive he'll probs make a better movie out of either one than most would. So i'm all for Clarke geting a shot. It could be far worse as choice of directors go.

He wants to direct em Leee, not star in em. Tyler i like Bell but not for Supergirl. My pick would be Elisha Cuthbert.



I know thats not really a left field choice or anything but she really looks the part and i think she would do a great job.

I don't think Cuthbert is a very good actress. She hasn't really proven her acting chops. Bell has, and she has the cute, spunky look to her that I think fits Supergirl perfectly.

I would say they have both shown good dramatic range and comedic talent. Cuthbert on 24, Bell on heroes. One does not stand out as being any better than the other, they are both solid..nothing special. But Cuthbert looks the part more. Like you said Bell is cute, but not really the knockout Supergirl should be. Shes also far too short and thin imo.

Bell had Veronica Mars, Forgetting Sarah Marshall too. I'd say she is much more proven than Cuthbert. Cuthbert is only 5'2" and Bell is 5'1". Not much of a difference.

Cuthbert also looks somewhat, for lack of a better word, trashy at times, and I don't think Supergirl should look like that. Bell is a knockout though, not just cute. Bell can look tough and strong, despite being short.

Cuthbert would be a fine Supergirl, don't get me wrong, I just think Bell is a better fit for the character.

Well, theres no accounting for personal taste! Bell has done a bit more agreed, but I have seen both of em act and they are both decent, simple as that.



As for the trashy thing, well, you say trashy i say sexy. Bell just sends out more of a Killer Frost vibe to me. After seeing her as Elle in Heroes i always thought she would be great in that role.

I do recall him in Dr. Who. I liked him in the few episodes I saw. I like him even more now. I'd be all over a Black Lighting or Supergirl movie! Wow, its a real toss up between Bell and Cuthbert for me. I do like Bell better as an actress, but both are solid cuties. DC hear Mr. Clarke out!

Oh yeah, she would indeed. But the powers would be too similar to Elle maybe..thats why i thought of Frost. Similar character but different power. Its not too out of the question we would see Killer Frost in a movie if they go ahead with the Suicide Squad adap.

Out the two i'd prefer Cuthbert. Just personal opinion. As argued, they're pretty level on the field of acting ability. I just think she suits the role better over Bell.
I always kinda wanted to see Kate Bosworth as Supergirl, back when all the fan pics were circulating. Guess that's out the window now she's starred in Supershite Returns.

I would go for either Cuthbert or Bell for Supergirl. I've got a thing for Cuthbert, but I think Bell is a much better actress, and I have a thing for her to. How about we just dress them up as Supergirls and we let them fight it out. It's a win situation all around.

Oh. man! That is a hard choice between Cuthbert and Bell but I go for Cuthbert 'cause she just looks like Supergirl to me! Or maybe it's 'cause my eyes warp out when I look at her! LOL

Bell has a more Killer frost look to her! She was perfect as the electrifying Elle. You're right, @Hawksblueeyes, she does look a little sneaky!

DDD: I have to disagree with you. Cuthbert looks like Supergirl, but just because she looks like her doesn't mean she should be the character. Bell is a far superior actress, and also looks just like Supergirl as well. But Cuthbert is smokin' hot I'll give you that :)
