Captain America Casting

I keep reading about Jensen Ackles, Mark Valley and Jason Lewis being the favorites to play Captain America but more often I hear of an unknown actor being the favorite. Well, how about me?

I'm a former US Marine. I was an Infantry Sergeant as well as a SWAT instructor during my military career. I have been an actor for the past four years and have been in dozen or so student films as well as parts in Lions for Lambs with Tom Cruise, and Rendition with Reese Witherspoon. I was in an episode of the TV show Numbers and I played Peyton Manning in a Frank TV John Madden spoof.

I am not just an actor however, I have been a long time Marvel comic collector and I really feel I am right for the part. Did I mention and I am also a former competitive bodybuilder? I competed in two bodybuilding shows my senior year in high school in the teen class, winning one of them. I may not compete anymore but I still train; as I would like to do primarily action movies. At 6 foot 3 and 230 lbs I think I also have the look that CAP needs to be honored correctly on film.

	Boy most of you guys are idiots or really short and scrawny. Christopher Reeves was 6'4 when he played Superman. Wade definetly has the physique to play Cap. You Dont scream Cap in the facial department but maybe if you dyed your hair blonde it might help some. These guys are saying that your too big. You look pretty pumped so I dont know how you could be too big. But then again for a short scrawny man anyone is too big. I'm 6'2 and I weigh 270lbs I work out 4 times a week I am not ripped to shreds. But hey wade anyone our size intmidates the [frick] out of most of these ppl. 	Sorry man, you're big, but you don't have the look for it. I don't think he's too big, granted he would have to get cut not just be big, sort of reminds me of my older brother's physique. I don't really agree with Lewis as Cap either. To be honest I haven't really seen anyone yet that could pull off the look. 	Ok after reading all this marlarky... And everyone talking about height and etc... I checked out your pics man and i don't think you are huge like everyone wants to think you are .. Also i agree with the few of you who point out the person doesn't have to look exactly like the character to play the part... Because if that was the case there would have never been the first BATMAN moves or Superman movies because no actors are that big or that shredded especially at that time... If Mr Wade has the acting chops does not hurt to try it out.. Plus since he has been in the military he has the athleticism to be CAP... 	This is going to sound cheesy, and I hate to come in here and play big brother for the big guy, but there are some things you all should know as you are passing judgement on him. I am currently a Marine (again) who worked in L.A. on numerous acting gigs with Wade, and if you knew him, you would want him to play this role. You won't find many people in L.A. that are as genuine, humble, and hard working as him. Sorry, but if somebody told me that Heath Ledger would be playing the Joker a couple of years ago, I would have thought "no" just from looking at him. I acted in college, got a degree in it, and then picked up my family to move to L.A. from Tallahassee to pursue a career in something that most people laugh at. If/when I decide to go back there, I would jump at the opportunity to work with Wade again. He's a talented actor, a good friend, and he has a big and humble heart. The piont is, it's been his dream to play this part for as long as I've known him, and the least you can do is support that, or at least reserve your condemnation on someone who's trying to live his dream. Just think about what your saying, and don't be a dickhead unless you have a reason to be. Don't worry about what you "think" Cap should look like, because Hollywood has a way of making you think somebody is perfect for a part that you orginially would have never seen coming. 	Bishop & Wade, you have to understand where you are and who you're talking to. And i really don't mean to sound like a jackass here. This is a comic book fansite where we debate on movies adapted from our beloved comic books. You are not selling yourselves to studio executives here, you're selling yourselves to the fans of the source material. Certainly studio execs have disregarded the source material in the past which we tend to bitch about profusely. But we believe that we are the very reason why this concept ever got to reach the big screen and have tried to make our voices heard since day one. We feel that no one is more equiped than us to make sure that the films on screen reflect what ever made the source material that popular in every aspect including the casting of our beloved childhood superheroes. Now, what exactly does that mean??? JACK SHIT!!! Why??? You said it yourselves, the studio execs have they're own way of telling us what to like. We here call it getting sodomised without our consent. So honestly, if you want an honest answer from the majority of the experts on the source material that litterally has no significance, no Wade should not be Captain America. But seeing as how these execs have been so loyal to us fans, Wade here has as much of a chance as anyone that gets to audition for the part. But if it were up to us, Wade would be Crossbones. What we want for our heroes is the total package which we can hardly ever get. Looks, build and chops. Wade doesn't qualify in the looks department, slightly does in the build department and we know nothing of his chops. 	OOH RAH! I also served in the Marine Corps; I was a Recon Marine. ...as far as the role for cap goes? I think it is a possibility, but I think the studios will go for a more well known actor. 	Cool man, I think you deserve a chance. I don't see how "too big" is an issue in many pictures Cap looks buff as [frick]. They should give you a screen test and see how you do. 	They need to get someone thats young and new. I dont like TV stars playing big roles...specially if their mediocre-ish. Ackles might pull it off, but Id like to see someone new. Tom Welling can pull Superman off....been waiting for it...but even with hsi decent acting skills...only reason for that is because many people know him for smallville...
