LeBron James: Space Jam 2 could it become a reality?

NBA superstar LeBron James has expressed interest in doing a Space Jam Sequel in the past. With the announcement of a deal to partner with Warner Bros. could Space Jam 2 be in the works?

LeBron James, and his production company SpringHill Entertainment have entered into a partnership with Warner Bros Entertainment. James announced the deal Wednesday Standing with SpringHill co-founder Maverick Carter and Warner Bros. chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara. The Warner Bros. chairman had this to say.

“LeBron James has one of the most powerful, well-known brands in the world and we are excited to be in business with him and his partner, Maverick Carter, and SpringHill Entertainment,” Tsujihara added. “The combination of LeBron’s global media presence and Warner Bros.’ unmatched production and distribution expertise is a big win for fans everywhere.”

While no specific projects were unveiled could Space Jam 2 be in the works? James has expressed his interest in making a sequel to Space Jam in the past. The 1996 Movie which starred Michael Jordan and the Warner Bros. Looney Tunes characters combined live action and traditional animation. In 2014, there was talk of Space Jam 2 being developed for James, though his camp subsequently denied that report. But now with the deal between SpringHill and Warners, Alex Weprin of Capital New York points out that Warner Bros. filed new trademarks for Space Jam last month.

All of this comes on the heels of James making his feature film debut last week in Universal’s romantic comedy “Trainwreck,” portraying himself and evoking praise from critics for his comic timing opposite co-stars Amy Schumer and Bill Hader.
