Simon Says: 18 Months Until Next Star Trek?

As reported on Breakingnews.ie, Simon Pegg was interviewed about a number of subjects and, not surprisingly, Star Trek was one of them. Actually, it was the Star Trek sequel.
"I know the writers are busy thinking about it," offered Pegg. "I don't really know anything about the story, of if I'm in a bigger role, but I'd imagine we'll be back this time next year. That's not official, but I reckon it's probably about 18 months away from being in the cinema."
If true, that would be pretty mind-blowing for fans.

18 months seems short though. Hope they don't rush it just to make a buck

sweet. more scotty in the next movie please. he was one of the best parts of the first one for me.
ThoroughbredSteele0 - 6/30/2009, 10:49 AM
SCOTTY was so important in the ORIGINAL series. so PEGG should be correct. it seemed like SULU and CHEKOV had the tinier parts at least where the show was concerned. SCOTTY was always in charge of the bridge when the others went on away missions OR he would actually come with them and participate in the action. we need more BONES though, if only that guy was as "big" as SIMON PEGG the future TIN-TIN lol
dellamorte1872 - 6/30/2009, 10:51 AM
yes more scotty and bones is definately what the movie needs. the spock kirk dynamic had to be set up in the first movie. now that it is it should free them up to give more screen time to teh other characters. the good thing about not having shatner and nimoy is you dont have the ego problem and you dont have to justify the huge salaries by giving them more screen time. you can spread it around........oh and more uhura in her underwear please. the movie needs that as well
superdog - 6/30/2009, 11:12 AM

I think they would focus on the Klingon War. We havint had a good Klingon fight on star trek in a good while. Enterprise had a few, but not much.

Id love to see his take on the Klingons...

Go with old school human geneticaly humanized version from Late Enterprise/Star Trek TOS or just use the klingons from the movies and TNG.

Anyway should be good....cant wait for the DVD to come out.

I can't think of a better Brit than Pegg for Scotty. Actually, I find him a bit better than the original. The sequel needs to hurry the Hell up.

Star Wars Ruled 20 yrs ago ....now its just a bautifal memory and present dissapointment.......at least this star trek is bringing it bang up to date
teabag - 7/1/2009, 1:28 AM
@ teabag

Yea yea. The producers knew they had to make another movie before everyone forgot about those weird star trek movies, star trek was dying. HAHAHAHA!

Star Wars WILL Live FOREVER Boy!!!

Lucas doesn't need to make new movies because he knows these movies will never die. These movies are more popular than those stupid star trek movies. Ha Ha!
