Ron Perlman Says He Will "Never Give Up" On Hellboy 3

The film may have failed to get a greenlight from the studio, but Hellboy himself Ron Perlman remains adamant about his desire to see Hellboy 3 get made.

Despite favorable reactions from fans, the first two Hellboy films didn't manage to make a splash at the box office, making the possibilities of the long-desired third film a longshot. Both Guillermo del Toro and Hellboy himself, Ron Perlman, have been adamant about their desires to make the film, but they have failed to get a greenlight from the studio because of the financial risk.

The first film earned $99 million from a $66 million budget, while the second earned $160 from an $85 million budget. While those numbers certainly aren't terrible, and don't make the films flops, it makes the studio hesitant for a third installment (which, del Toro has said, would be even more expensive).

In a recent intervew, Perlman spoke out about his continued love for the property and his desire to make the third film happen. In fact, he doesn't just want to make the film, he actively fights for it "ever day."

“I’d like to finish it. I’d like for there to be a third film because the first two films were set up for this huge resolve and he (Guillermo Del Toro) already understands what that resolve will look like. He never gave me the nuts and bolts of it, but he gave me a rather broad strokes sketch of what the third film would look like and it’s so epic and so deserved by the fans that hung in there for the first two that I really feel as though it’s essential that we make it. So I fight for it every day. Sometimes I’m the only voice and sometimes there are others, but I’m never going to stop trying to get Hellboy 3 made!”

What do you think of his comments? It's great to hear how much he wants to make the film, but that doesn't mean it's ever going to happen. Tell us, do you think we'll ever see Hellboy 3?

We'll never give up either Ron.

I think that giving Slade his movie would be a good decision for studio execs.
Azbat - 6/16/2014, 1:13 PM
A life-saving one in fact.

I liked Hellboy (I & II).
But, I'd rather have a Dredd sequel.

Haha, this reminds me of something..

This was, like.. a year ago, maybe? Anyway, I was catching up on the news here, and I saw this one article that said "Del Toro Says Hellboy 3 Is Unlikely", I don't remember the exact words, but it was something along those lines, and I remember seeing the words and thinking "Levi ain't gonna like this shit". I clicked on it, and, as it turns out.. Levi's the one who wrote it. Anyway, I'm just scrolling and reading through the article, and at the very end he says "cipher, where are you? I need a drink", haha. It just cracked me up, it was like the news anchor turning to the cameraman while they're still on the air and saying "this f*cking shit SUCKS, bro. Let's get some f*cking drinks". Haha, Levi's a good dude.

I think the article's still up somewhere, I dunno, I'm not sure, but our comments have been wiped a few times since then so I doubt they're still there.

Is Levi gone? Or is Bender Levi?

Bender is pretty funny. Levi was cool.

MightOfMagneto - 6/16/2014, 1:30 PM
Del Toro should finish this one.

Good thing... Marvel Studio isn't wise enough to hire him for Dr. Strange.

MightOfMagneto - 6/16/2014, 1:33 PM
Why is levi banned?
JFerguson - 6/16/2014, 1:37 PM
^the link, not the lame gif
TheAbaryMan369 - 6/16/2014, 1:38 PM
Levi would love this news :)
yossarian - 6/16/2014, 1:39 PM
I think Levi got banned for harassing Josh.
AsgardianHobo - 6/16/2014, 1:41 PM
I think Levi was fighting with Josh about an editorial contest, and then started to fight with Big G. Big mistake

Its time we setup a petition for this movie. It needs to be like yesterday.

@Hellsboy - yeah. there was a blank spot on the tombstone/buckle and mignola didn't like the negative space. so he wrote in "hell boy". i think that might be the origin of the name?
Klone - 6/16/2014, 2:02 PM
Levi and Jollem were having a romantic affair, but Jollem was betrothed to Josh! Josh was very, very angry, so he killed Levi with a John Stewart postcard!
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 6/16/2014, 2:10 PM
Two fantastic comic book movies. Very underrated.
MrMartinMarvel - 6/16/2014, 2:21 PM
Levi actually showed up in chat very briefly a couple months ago, so I'm pretty sure he can come back whenever he wants.
dethpillow - 6/16/2014, 2:23 PM
rad. right on Hellboy. and yeah, i loved them both too. first one more, i'd say. Perlman is the test tube love child of Ted Danson, Will Ferrel and Tom Waits.
AlphaMasterFlex - 6/16/2014, 2:28 PM
I pitched my idea for the them to wrap up Hellboy as a series to Perlman on FX but he never tweeted me back.....
DocDangerous - 6/16/2014, 2:28 PM
We can only hope
thetrojan - 6/16/2014, 2:30 PM
