We're still waiting on an official Fantastic Four cast announcement, but Vanessa Kirby is said to be a lock to play Sue Storm - not that she's prepared to confirm anything just yet!

We had been led to believe that the cast of Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four reboot would be revealed as soon as the strikes were resolved, but a recent report indicated that at least some of the main players have yet to be finalized, and an announcement is likely still a ways off.

The one cast member who is said to be a "lock" is Vanessa Kirby, who believed to be playing Sue Storm, aka Invisible Woman.

The Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning actress has previously side-stepped questions about her potential involvement in the project, and she's not about to break now - even when the interviewer changes tactics.

Kirby was asked outright if Marvel is going to announce her as Storm at the premiere of her latest film, Ridley Scott's Napoleon, and responded with a laugh: "You'll have to ask them!" She then reiterated that she would be "honoured" to land the role.

Far from confirmation, obviously, but we're getting the impression Kirby knows at least a little more than she's willing to disclose.

Check out the video at the link below.

Stranger Things breakout Joseph Quinn was said to be close to signing on to play Sue's brother, Johnny, and The Bear and Netflix's Punisher actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach is still rumored to be up for Ben Grimm, aka The Thing. Adam Driver's name is frequently brought up as a contender for Reed Richards, but Jake Gyllenhaal is now said to be Marvel's first choice to play Mr. Fantastic.

Richards is expected to lead the team, but Sue is believed to be the main focus of the story.

Matt Shakman will direct FF from a script by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. Plot details are still a mystery, but Kevin Feige has confirmed that this will not be another origin story for the super-team.

“A lot of people know this origin story. A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they’ve never seen before?” he said in a 2022 interview, comparing this new take on the heroes to Marvel Studios' pact with Sony to bring Spider-Man into the MCU. “We’ve set a very high bar for ourselves with bringing that to the screen.”

Fantastic Four is set to be released in theaters on May 2, 2025.

@LordHarryLatts - fun trivia: "Comer" means "To eat" in some latin languages. Which can also mean... well you know.

Isn't she kinda "old" to be playin' this character? She's been in the Mission Impossible franchise for a minute. But then again Mahershala Ali is in his mid-40s, and Wesley Snipes started that shit at 36. Ali is currently 46, and they don't even have a script yet.

But nothing's wrong 😁

@videovac

35. She's fukcin' 35. The Hollywood I know and love is against as [frick], and wouldn't come near casting someone her age to START a major role like this. Her starting AT 35? Yeah, if she was male, in Robert Downey'sposition, or, well, a male. Yeah. Her? A female? A woman? In "this" industry?

I'd love to see it. But I doubt I'll see it.

@videovac - She's a mother in the comics, she'll be fine if she is cast, look at the picture I posted, she's perfect for the role.

don't stress, believe, hope, drink, and eat deliciously

"35. She's fukcin' 35. The Hollywood I know and love is ageist as fukc, and wouldn't come near casting someone her age to START a major role like this. Her starting AT 35? Yeah, if she was male, in Robert Downey'sposition, or, well, a male. Yeah. Her? A female? A woman? In "this" industry?

I gotta re-type my comment. @garu I apologize to you. You read and responded to an incorrect comment.

Ageist is the word I meant. It makes all the difference. I believe white people are bigoted and racist and prejudiced as shit, but I can make the argument, that they are more against in Hollywood than anything, especially if it comes to a woman.

The moment a chick gets near 30, they already got the mom/mother roles rolled out for her, "IF" they even have that. To somewhat tie this post in to my other posts, I hate that movie fans, those fans I hate oh so much, can't see that Hollywood is using goodwill to shield themselves from criticism.

At the risk of making a smart person gag, Hollywood is about creativity. Innovation. Inventiveness. Intrigue. Captivation. When your entire business revolves around these five, and you can't supply these five, then you have to shield yourself from the criticism that comes with failing to provide all of or one of these five words.

If you're an un-creative/non-creative producer, and you hire a black director, or a woman, or a gay person, or a Trans person, or a non-binary person to hide and shield and cloud and smoke screen yourself from criticism, you've already done half the work in protecting yourself, and your business in an industry driven by creativity.

When no one behind the camera has any creativity/innovation/inventiveness/intrigue/captivation, we call these people con artists, crooks, thieves. And a con artist, a thief, a crook, a dishonest person, a liar will do anything they can to make you believe that they didn't do anything wrong. How could they? How could they have done something wrong? They did this good will thing, or that good will thing. See what I mean?

Kevin Feige, and every other producer in Hollywood, has been holding babies and other easily sympathetic human beings as shields since Hollywood has been around, and making dumb people believe that they do no wrong. It's a shame that people can't see it.

I still honestly can’t see her as Sue…

This is likely just me not having seen enough of her work but the stuff I have seen her in , she comes across as somewhat cold which I feel would make her a better Emma Frost then Invisible Woman who to me is more warm & maternal.

If she is Sue though , I hope she proves me wrong and does well!!.

@TheVisionary25 - Ditto. Also I don't know if she can be a lead. Might work better as just supporting. Who's your ideal Sue?
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 11/14/2023, 10:33 PM
@MCUKnight11 - I think she can work as a lead though.

I don’t have an ideal one but I do think someone like an Elizabeth Lail could work

MCUKnight11
MCUKnight11 - 11/14/2023, 10:52 PM
@TheVisionary25 - I still hope it's Comer but I wouldn't have minded Lail either. F4 could've been a You reunion with her and Penn badgley as the Richards.

@TheVisionary25 @MCUKnight11 - Elizabeth Lial is more of a Emma frost imo, or any villain, idk her face just screams mean Annoying Drama queen, like if I was remaking Mean girls she would play Regina George. that being said , seeing her as Sue and Penn as Reed would be funny.

I think he could pull off Bentley's punchable smug attitude with an underlying hint of inferiority complex a lot better than Victor's grand megalomania.

Hamm could pull off both Victor and Reed just as easily. I know he usually gets cast as the strict but hot bureaucrat, but the dude has incredible range as an actor.
