Geoffery Rush Talks Green Lantern

Geoffery Rush explains the process of how he able to voice Tomar-Re in the Martin Campbell directed comic book adaptation of Green Lantern.

When Tomar-Re was announced for the Green Lantern film a lot of people wanted to know who would portray Hal Jordan's sector neighbor of 2813. The answer was season actor Geoffery Rush who was a big Superman as and admits he didn't know that much about Green Lantern, but asked to be sent some art work and the script to give it a chance. Surprisingly it was Tomar-Re's body shape that sealed the deal for Rush.

"I voiced an owl in Legends of the Guardians and I did a pelican in Finding Nemo, I think it’s time to add half fish, half lizard, to put that arrow in my quiver."

"Having voiced cartoon/animated stuff before, you know that you’re in good hands. I was always blown away that Albert Brooks and Ellen DeGeneres met at the premiere [of Finding Nemo]. It sounds like they improvised off each other, riffing, but, you know, the creators of those worlds, they get lots of alternate takes, they let people off the leash, and then they have to kind of… because I don’t think much ever hits the cutting room floor in those films. They’re beautifully storyboarded and stuff.

Apparently Rush is also not done doing voice over for the film either because he finished up recording session just the other day. He also has yet to meet Ryan Reynolds who he shares quite a few scenes with.

Geoffry Rush is an incredible actor and looks like he would be an incredible person to talk too. I cant wait for Green Lantern, even if the effects are not 'Amazing' at least we have a Green Lantern movie in general! haha.

@Corpse- I'm not saying it won't be good... but don't say it'll be the best. (since such hyperbole sounds ridiculous). It's got quite the competition, what with the critical praise Thor is getting. It's got to be pretty impressive to be the best CBM of the year... just saying.

Rush is a main reason why I can watch a new pirates movie and not need Lego-less or portman's body double in it. Just give me rush, depp, Gibbs, and blackbeard and I'm good!

I'm actually looking forward to GL bc I think it's a great character and it's refreshing to FINALLY see something else besides supes and bats in a dc movie!

Just not a Reynolds fan.

green lantern will be something fresh I think,I always had a thing for space films like star trek,star wars even serenity etc,so that too plays a huge role in me anticipating this.My most anticipated CBM is cowboys and aliens but GL and THOR is very close to that :)

but rush seems a perfect fit for tomar and MCD is as usual good.

THOR seems to be doing well(Friday seems to be $25-$30 mil)it was a decent movie(it was no dark knight or iron man),but I'm happy for it,now it's GL AND THEN COWBOYS :D

The new GL trailer was the highlight of my trip to the theater to see Thor.Haha.I mean I enjoyed it but geez are a lot of folks on here just speaking with their feet 1st(if that makes any sense).After the GL trailer ended there were some claps and "Wooo's!"..after Thor ended half the theater left with a "Meh" face

Im really tempted to read the script again to see how all the trailer stuff fits in. Though its only the first draft so the Paralax wasnt even in it.
