i didn't vote because there's no "meh" choice, lol. i'm kind of impartial. i don't want that to be the emblem on his costume, but i DO like it for posters and the title font (like if the letters of the title were that same metal style), and promotional type things.

Galactus Insert: Added a "Meh" just for you. :)

Looks like the frikin Stargate lol :D
Faust1973
Faust1973 - 3/23/2010, 10:41 AM
I think it works on a "Stargate" level in that instead of a "representation" of the lantern formed by the lantern energy (ala Hela's pic), it's a "real" lantern, as it were...if we think about the history of the Oans and the Lanterns we start thinking in terms of time...keeping that in mind, the almost archaic metal and gemstone look gives that "weight of history" feeling, like the Stargate I referenced above...I personally think that on the costumes they should utilize the "energy" form of the lantern as the outfits are energy constructs in and of themselves, but as a sigil, the new symbol should be used...it's like the difference between the bat-signal bat sign and the way the oval yellow and black symbol on batman's suit was used--same meaning, different form/different use...

I dont know a lot about the character but if that's the symbol on the costume, it's going to look pretty "Meh" - glad that's a voting option, lol!

Oh well, as a Marvel fan I still have Thor and The First Avenger: Captain America to look forward to! :)

...and I agree with LEEE777, it SHOULD be the ring itself, instead of looking "plasticky" like it does on the comics...would make more sense and blend in more in the "real" world...
Faust1973
Faust1973 - 3/23/2010, 10:51 AM
teabag...maybe they were trying to appeal to your sensitivities making the center of the symbol more rounded...you know...like BOOBIES? :p

Is it just me, or maybe a trick of the light, but it looks like the Yin/Yang symbol in the middle of the logo. Don't know why that would be there. Otherwise, kinda cool. But I agree that the logo on the costume needs to be the classic logo, not a reworked one.

Looks good to me, but I'm not too sure really.

Hey Everyone! Check out my new short story in fan fic

Ghosts of Yesterday (Featuring Zatanna and Question)

It features Zatanna and the Question teaming up to stop the ghost of a rapist that has an obsession with one young girl.

It is unlike anything I have ever written, it is a twisting emotional tale. I recommend you check it out!

Hmmmm, they could've pushed it a little further. Maybe when I get a better look.

It DOES look like it has a yin yang symbol in the "jewel".
Cook
Cook - 3/23/2010, 10:56 AM
It looks like a silver ring with a n emerald stone in the middle. What's the big deal. Looks fine.
ecksmanfan
ecksmanfan - 3/23/2010, 10:56 AM
Keep in mind, its a printed logo on the back of a canvas directors chair. I voted Meh, but I think when we see it on a poster or something like that and they add some effects to go with it, it might not be too bad.
THEHAWK
THEHAWK - 3/23/2010, 10:57 AM
Holy shit! that is the Yin/yang! seriously, why would they put that , it is too proportional to be a trick of the light.
Macksimus
Macksimus - 3/23/2010, 10:59 AM
It depends...is this the logo that is going to be on the suit? If so, I say NO.

comicb00kguy
comicb00kguy - 3/23/2010, 11:04 AM
this might be all right for advertising, but I hope the costume has the more traditional version.

Otherwise, "meh!"
Betty
Betty - 3/23/2010, 11:05 AM
Macksimus-- It is probably not the logo they are putting on the suit. I would think that for the suit they would use the simpler symbol.

Just a thought, does this logo make anyone else think of 70s and 80s scifi epics?

I think the GL logo needs to be fixed so it doesnt look sloppy
Faust1973
Faust1973 - 3/23/2010, 11:07 AM
To clarify what I was saying...I think this should be the ring and what the power battery looks like to ground it in reality and make it more "camouflaged" when Hal is wearing it in his civvies, but I think the insignia on the suit should be a hard light representation like Hela posted...the suits are a manifestation of the ring, therefore the symbol as part of the suit should be a manifestation...ala, the green light that all of the constructs are made of...I like the idea of the symbol coming OUT of the suit a few inches...like a 3-D representation...I think they did ION's sigil like that...
Macksimus
Macksimus - 3/23/2010, 11:13 AM
@Betty

Hopefully that's the case. Maybe it's an upclose pic of the actual ring.
