Cap would wipe the floor with Star-Lord, punt Rocket through a window, kick Groot to splinters, and confuse Drax with metaphors, while sweet-talking Gamora. I hate to put it that way but, Cap is one of the PREMIERE hand-to-hand combatants in comics. He's on the list with Batman, Black Panther, Iron Fist, Richard Dragon and Shang-Chi, as people with whom not to [frick]!

One on one, no guardians or avengers interference, Star Lord with his gadgets (quad-blasters, magnetic pulse grenades, helmet, and boot rockets), Cap with his shield , Cap wins. And the Guardians getting Star Lord's back doesn't work because by those rules the Avengers could get Cap's back. Iron Man would vaporize Rocket, the Hulk would smash Groot, Thor would kill Drax, Gamora and Black Widow would be a good fight but Black widow and Hawkeye together would ruin Gamora. Etc.

If we take the post-AoU Avengers then... no, wait, they have Wanda and Vision. Yeah, the Guardians might lose a fight. Good thing they're kind of on the same side, ay?!

As for his comment about it probably being the greatest movie of all time - yeah, I could see that. ;)
