Really hope Thor has atleast a somewhat substantional role in this. Might be a long time until Taika get around to make an eventual Thor 4. We might even get some kind of Avengers movie befoer that.

@ElvenKingSlayer - the hemsworth/pratt chemistry is off the charts and easily some of the best non action parts of the last two avengers movies...

He responded to someone asking for Suicide Squad to be PG-13 with "Dissenting opinion". Sounds like it'll be an R, thinking it gets pushed up to October 2020 looking at the slots WB has available.

That or WB keeps it on the shelf for a long time, which would be... weird. It wraps filming before Batman starts, and is currently scheduled to open 2 months later.
WakandanQueen
WakandanQueen - 6/25/2019, 2:01 AM
@tmp3 - I was thinking they could move it to December, since WB has nothing coming out that month and none of the films scheduled for that month are as big.

tmp3 - 6/25/2019, 2:06 AM
@WakandanQueen - I was so sure on this movie moving to December... but then I realized that there's never been an R rated big budget film released in that period. Closest I can think of is Girl with a Dragon Tattoo, which did under expectations. It's weird how much of a dead zone that is though, since it's prime real estate.
Also, no way Venom 2 makes October 2020 considering there's still no director; hence I could see WB pouncing at that date.

I'm glad they decided to bring him along for the ride. It makes sense, especially if they include Adam Warlock and the High Evolutionary. Either one should be a bit much for the GotG to handle on their own. Plus, AW picked his first fight with Thor, so that's a nice bonus. It just irks me they wasted GotG 2 on Ego instead of AW.

However slim it may be, I'm starting to feel like there may be a chance that the set up at the end of Avengers Endgame may not have been for just one film, but perhaps two: Guardians Vol 3 wrapping up the arcs for these characters, and a spin-off which also acts as a defacto Thor 4 toying with the Asgardians of the Galaxy idea and maybe seeing a couple of the original Guardians (probably Rocket and Groot) teaming up with Thor and maybe some other characters (I feel the best choices would probably be Valkyrie and/or reintroducing Sif, and maybe having Korg and Miek in smaller roles too).

I'm probably wrong, but worth speculating at least.

But it should be.

I love seeing Thor and the Guardians together, but I felt that his joining the team (ostensibly for the next movie) was an odd choice. First, the sequel doesn’t need him — they already have their ensemble that works well together — and second, RAGNAROK proved that Thor can be successful in his own series.

If he does appear in GOTG 3, I bet it will only be for the first few minutes, a la Captain Marvel in EG, and he’ll return in the climax/resolution.

@NoAssemblyReqd - If Adam Warlock is involved then Thor will be needed.
Himura
Himura - 6/25/2019, 5:05 AM
@NoAssemblyReqd - Ragnarok worked because he was part of an ensemble in that too. He's much better when he has someone else to play opposite off.

The only problem that I have with Gunn is how he showcases power set. He doesn't. He's gonna have to step up the action for them, especially Drax.
Kurne
Kurne - 6/25/2019, 3:55 AM
@Roodi - it actually bothers me how Star-Lord was the most effective fighter out of the Guardians in Infinity War and Endgame.

Drax needed a power bump a long time ago.

Kurne - 6/25/2019, 3:52 AM
I think I'm the only one who's worried about Thor being in Guardians 3.

The Guardians characters are almost too precious to Gunn. I feel like he'll favor them much more over Thor, and may even undermine [the latter] to get that point across.
tvor03
tvor03 - 6/25/2019, 9:31 AM
@Kurne - did you ever think that maybe Thor ended up with the GotG at the end of Endgame because Gunn wanted him there?

I love How you all go back on your word and your thoughts so quickly. I argues With some many of you here who were so adamant about “Asgardians of the Galaxy” just because Thor said it in Endgame. Now you guys are like “duh” and “yea i want it to be Guardians 3” blah blah blah.

Of course it’s going to wrap up the other 2 movies. All of you were so damn sure that Thor is now officially on the team because of Endgame. I told you....it was just a JOKE!! A one liner in a movie!

SerKurtWagner
SerKurtWagner - 6/25/2019, 5:33 AM
@Frshcoupe - I never saw anyone suggest that the title would change. But if Thor isn’t in Volume 3, there’s going to be some major problems, since they pretty explicitly had him join the team at the end of Endgame.
String
String - 6/25/2019, 7:48 AM
Did people actually believe the title was going to be anything but Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? That's pretty stupid and gullible. That line was just too good to pass up in Endgame, nothing more.

I don't expect Chris Hemsworth to be in GotGv3. At best, perhaps a mention that Thor was dropped off somewhere but nothing important to the overall film. James Gunn has said he's written a great story for Gamora in Vol. 3 and in hindsight we now know why. The film is going to conclude THIS cast of characters story -not blend in a character as big as Thor and continue his story.
gulducati
gulducati - 6/25/2019, 7:54 AM
Thor said himself "I've got a ride." That implies he's already got a drop-off in mind. He is over 1500 years old, and probably has a lot of places he's been to already where he's likely to want to visit again.
Tony93
Tony93 - 6/25/2019, 9:59 AM
Sure the title won't be called that but Thor is def gonna be in the film whether it be a few minutes or more important role. Considering Gunn was consulted for the GOTG scenes in IW and EG I'm sure he was perfectly fine with Thor ending up with them.
