It was a crowd pleaser. I just depends on if you care about what the crowd thinks. It was good though.
WorstUserNameEver - 11/11/2013, 5:45 AM
Its the first Marvel movie ever to have felt like a live action triple ep arc of an animated series or dare i say it a comic book... and for all of its flaws (which I feel could be solved with a directors cut) I liked it.

Whose for an online campaign to ensure a Bluray Directors cut, if the fans speak load enough Marvel may just listen.
Gamera623 - 11/11/2013, 5:45 AM
I was blown away. I really didnt expect it to be as good as it was.

Thor was my least favorite movie of MCU Phase 1. So this was my least anticipated of Phase 2.

Next thing I know I'm sitting in the theatre, mind blown, wondering if this is my second favorite after Avengers.

It was just amazing.
Tajin88 - 11/11/2013, 5:46 AM
Grif says: Shit movie! Only a few good scenes, but can't save the movie, also the worst "villain" in a CBM I've seen yet!
19001560 - 11/11/2013, 5:46 AM
not the best CBM of all time but IT IS THE BEST CBM OF THE YEAR! DEAL WITH IT!
Giznad - 11/11/2013, 5:48 AM
Oh, btw, one of the best parts was the new Marvel Studios logo.
EarOne - 11/11/2013, 6:02 AM
certainly a crowd pleaser, and i think it's the BEST cbm of THIS year, followed by Iron Man 3, second, The Wolverine, third, and Man of Steel, fourth. Kick Ass 2..shouldn't've been made at all.

really surprised at how LOW it's gotten at Rotten Tomatos, since it first came out outside the U.S. then again, we all know how most so-called critics see a cbm. they can't even see the ocean-wide difference between 2008's The Dark Knight and the very flawed 2012's The Dark Knight RISES. So screw em.
theInvincibleMexiMan - 11/11/2013, 6:12 AM
I'm not a HUGE Thor fan by any means, but I like the character. Thor's God of Thunder comic run has been pretty good so far and I enjoyed Thor 1

But this movie just blew me away. It was like a cross of Star Wars and LOTR and it was amazing.
musim - 11/11/2013, 6:17 AM
The categories on this were weird. I really, really like Thor 2. Iron Man 3 might be my favorite of the year but it would be for entirely different reasons. Thor TDW isn't my favorite CBM of all time but its definitely up'ed the game. Would have preferred "loved it" category instead.
California - 11/11/2013, 6:30 AM
1st or 2nd CBM of the year by anyone's count. Mind blown.
xstryker - 11/11/2013, 6:31 AM
Best Marvel movie of the year. I also loved Man of Steel, but for different reasons. I'm a bit bummed we didn't get to see some of the other realms though.
fettastic - 11/11/2013, 6:33 AM
Here's my breakdown:

THOR: The Suck World
Ragnaroknroll - 11/11/2013, 6:33 AM
Pure awesomeness! Best CBM of the year easily. Almost eclipses Avengers for me.

@WorstUserNameEver yes I agree. Director's Cut, Extended Edition, whatever. Make it happen! In fact, Alan Taylor is the first Marvel director to say he'd be on board with that. I believe there's some truly great stuff left on the cutting room floor. Even so I can't believe that this felt as epic as it did for such a short run time. I was skeptical and it won me over.
Grimfoe - 11/11/2013, 6:49 AM
It was a great film. Much better than the first. Marvel continues to improve (with the exception of Iron Man 3)

I love the story they're setting up and I give them huge kudos for having the BALLS to set up a story over YEARS of movies and tv and comics. This really is the most interesting thing we've ever seen done in film and I'm enjoying the hell out of it.

Great job. Way to make a relatively minor comic book character and thrust him into the main stream. Really developed well and the story was great. Can't wait to see where it goes from here. Screw you and your cliff hanger!
Grimfoe - 11/11/2013, 6:50 AM
*take* a minor character.

Sorry for the typo. I type fast when I'm happy.
StarkAnthony - 11/11/2013, 6:52 AM
I don't think it was a great film from a critical standpoint, but I really liked it. For MCU fans it was fantastic
GenreFan - 11/11/2013, 6:57 AM
Most definitely the best CBM of the year, out of those that I have seen. Those being Man of Steel, Iron Man 3 and now Thor The Dark World. I have not seen the lastesd Wolverine movie. Mostly because I can't take another wolverine movie in theaters. But I will 100% get it when it comes out on BluRay and give a more informed opinion then.

1: Thor the Dark World
2. Iron Man 3
3. Man of Steel

But bear in mind i loved them AL, but this is my order of loving them.
fettastic - 11/11/2013, 7:00 AM
1)Man of Steel
2) The Wolverine
3) THOR: The Dark World
4) Iron Man 3

Just trying to get across that they are spaced very far apart in my mind in terms of quality.
fettastic - 11/11/2013, 7:02 AM
Man of Steel is the second best superhero film ever made behind The Dark Knight.

Iron Man 3 is definitely the worst modern superhero film ever made, not including 70's schlock or that 1990 Captain America.
AvatarIII - 11/11/2013, 7:06 AM
I thought the movie felt a bit butchered, which is unsurprising due to the fact Jaimie Alexander's part in the movie was cut down after her injury, as well as stories of Joss Whedon being called to rewrite scenes during shooting. What I wanted to see was more Asgard, more Warriors Three, more Sif, and what we got was More Jane, More Loki, more Darcy, More Earth.
As a Brit, it was nice to have a movie like this set in London, but really it could have been set anywhere, and would probably have made more sense had it been set in Norway or something.
The movie also felt too sci-fi, some parts literally felt like Star Wars
for example this scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idYLzH5xk5A‎
I feel like Thor should be Fantasy first and Sci-fi second, I felt like the first Thor movie got the balance perfectly.

Overall it was a good movie but Phase 2 is looking kind of disappointing so far.
ROMsnotdead - 11/11/2013, 7:09 AM
greatest cbm of the year by far. once again it's all about personal expectations.I found The Wolverine ok, but as a long time X-Men fan i was a bit disapointed. Didn't like MOS at all. So Thor 2 for me.
DrRockso - 11/11/2013, 7:15 AM
Loved it. Better than Avengers. Donner's Superman is still number one.
fettastic - 11/11/2013, 7:16 AM
@AvatarIII, Ah, so Joss DID write some of the dialogue. I thought I detected Sir Snarks-A-Lot in several areas, most notably when Thor and Jane go to kiss. It was [frick]ing EYE-ROLLING!
batman1216 - 11/11/2013, 7:28 AM
I thought it was great, but like MOS more and Wolverine as much. Ironman 3 I didn't hate, but liked the least. Funny how that made by far the most though.
batman1216 - 11/11/2013, 7:34 AM
MOS is incredibly divisive. To some its the greatest comic movie ever and some just hate it. MOS is personally in my top 5 comic movies ever. I thought it was incredible. I guess they should have made more of an effort to show Superman saving lives, but I never felt that Superman didn't care. As far as killing Zod, its been done before both in comics and movies, so I just don't see the problem at all given the context of the situation. I always felt the no killing rule didn't apply to the heat of the battle. Killing in cold blood is one thing, but I always thought saving innocent lives comes before all else.
IronJohnson - 11/11/2013, 7:35 AM
Great flic! Im looking forward to the future films that introduce the other four infinity stones! Im guessing GOTG will definitely have one if not more. Thor 3 will probably lead into Avengers 3 as Loki hands Thanos the gauntlet with the tesseract and whichever final stone they have in that movie. Hope they also go further into Loki's event that found him in front of Thanos.

Also I wonder if the cameo from a certain Avenger counts as one of his pics in his six film deal?

I also like the credits scenes that lead up to something big. Thats one disappointment i had with IM3. Hope Marvel learned its lesson and continues the credits scenes
StatenMan18 - 11/11/2013, 7:37 AM
The wolverine was my favorite this year
StatenMan18 - 11/11/2013, 7:37 AM
thor was third for me
marcvader1 - 11/11/2013, 7:41 AM
Enjoyed this flick way more than the first Thor and I liked the first Thor. It's a tie for me between MOS and TDW. I've yet to see the Wolverine.
Bloodthorn - 11/11/2013, 7:44 AM
It was the second best to Man of Steel.
1. Man of Steel
2. Thor
3. Ironman
4. Kickass 2
5. Wolverine

Am I the only one though who wonders if MOS will age as well as milk on a driveway for those fans? I ask that because usually if nerds like a certain CBM hard, non-nerd critics will generally like it too. I mean look up that genre at RT sometimes and you a clear correlation. (Of course mostly nerds will LOVE said films more than those critics, but like it too anyway.)

But on MOS, the critics were rather indifferent with the nerd bloggers and fans the ones that were for MOS and praising it to the high heavens. (I rolled my eyes at Harry Knowles calling MOS "the greatest superhero movie ever!" Really? What about THE INCREDIBLES? THE DARK KNIGHT? Those two btw are among the best reviewed CBMs at RT, if I remember right.)

I've had this armchair theory for awhile that as likeable films as THOR and CAPTAIN AMERICA are, I wonder if some fans are kinder to them than they would've been otherwise because THE AVENGERS was coming out a summer later? I just wonder if the hardcore behind MOS were just so excited for the DCU to finally exist that they overlooked the (many) flaws in MOS. (Then again, I remember when the first Tim Burton BATMAN movie was praised to the stars, but how many folks now rank it high on their lists?)

Several nerds say MOS was the Superman movie they've always been waiting for I guess that translates to "Superman punched somebody!" I want more from my movies than FX.
Batcatgasperment91 - 11/11/2013, 7:57 AM
It was prob the only CBM this year that I wasn't somewhat disappointed in. I enjoyed all of them but there was something about each one that left me feeling a little disappointed.
Thor44 - 11/11/2013, 8:06 AM
It was great. Will go see it again this weekend.
FantasticSpidey - 11/11/2013, 8:15 AM
Have to say that before seeing Thor TDW I was hopeful but didn't think it would hold a candle to Man of Steel.

And for the first portion of the film it was a bit slow going.

However it suddenly kicked it up a notch and was just outright fantastic.

Thor TDW - Literally Epic. The only CBM that didn't have blatant flaws or inconsistencies (that at least were noticeable in one viewing). The villains were satisfying, the twists were fantastic, it was humorous and entertaining. I immediately wanted to watch it again after it was over.

Man of Steel - Fantastic film but upon multiple viewings the issues it has do become more apparent, which is enough to force one to take the rose-colored glasses off. Still very well done. Again, I wanted to watch this again after it was over.

Iron Man 3 - Aside from the controversial twist and a bit too much buddy cop action, it was an entertaining film but had a lot of little of problems and things that seemed to be written just to keep the plot going when a different choice would have ended the film. I wanted to watch Iron Man 1 and 2 again after this was over.

The Wolverine - Not bad at all and probably the best X-Men film beside First Class, certainly the best Wolverine film, which is a problem in itself. It had some issues for sure. But it was still much better than I expected. Hugh Jackman is amazing as Wolverine as always. Problem is I could never watch it again and I wouldn't miss it. So that is why I put it at the bottom of the list. I went about my day and didn't really think about the film again until just now.
JossWeedOnMe - 11/11/2013, 8:24 AM
Krap Dennings was what made this film she really bought a maturity to the film
JossWeedOnMe - 11/11/2013, 8:26 AM
Marvel would even put jokes in a film about a terminally I'll Jewish paraplegic
monsterswin - 11/11/2013, 8:28 AM
Not great but better than IM 3 or MOS that's for sure.
KindredMac - 11/11/2013, 8:37 AM
What pissed me off the most was that the Rainbow Bridge was rebuilt already??? WITH NO CONVERSATION ABOUT HOW IT WAS RECONSTRUCTED SO QUICKLY!!!!

It took away the power and emotion behind Thor destroying it in the first movie!!!

They tried to do way too much in this movie without fleshing any of it out.
Luis75 - 11/11/2013, 8:47 AM
Best CBM of 2013.
