Back when the Ghostbusters reboot was still in pre-production, a rumor did the rounds that this movie's version of Slimer was going to be female. When we got our first glimpse of the fan-favorite green ghost it seemed clear that this was the same character from the original films, but it looks like there was some truth to the report after all.

In the first of the 2 new TV spots below, "The Slimers", the hungry little fella can be seen having a great ol' time behind the wheel of a car with a lady friend.

Erin Gilbert (Wiig) and Abby Yates (McCarthy) are a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. A few years later Gilbert lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia University, but her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Gilbert reunites with Yates and others when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.

Ghostbusters hits theaters on July 15.
