New IRON MAN 3 Character Poster Featuring The Mandarin

I'll be honest when I first saw this I thought he looks like Mr. T

However it is kinda growing on me, seems like they're going for the "he keeps trophies of his victories" look about him.

I am sure he'll be a great villain, but was hoping for a more menacing Mandarin poster.

Those boots, the shades...yeah, I think we'll get a more militaristic terrorist-like Mandarin, in certain aspects. Which is not a bad thing, and is very interesting, to say the least.

And the tiny details seemingly related to Captain America intrigues me even further. Is he not only targeting Iron Man? Do the consequences post The Avengers have any part in this, as well as the villain's background? The curiosity is killing me, but it just gets better.

I don't know, but shouldn't this kind of change be expected ever since the first Iron Man movie? And CBM's do take liberties, and personally, it is the main appeal of the genre for me - to see the comic book characters being adapted to the big screen, with its own standard, et cetera.

I've only noticed that his pants also sport the military camouflage pattern. (Also, the dog tags.) That leads me into guessing that he's an obsessed former military personnel (maybe he adores Captain America as a hero too much?), who for one reason turns into terrorism, and adopts the Chinese theme as...a way of mockery? Who knows, but it seems to me that the theme is there for satirizing purpose. Very interesting, indeed...

China is a huge BO draw. Their government is very well known for being extremely strict and asinine with their censorships. They cut out parts from SKYFALL, MEN IN BLACK 3, and one of the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN movies because they felt certain parts in them were "offensive" to the Chinese culture. And with a movie starring a villain like the Mandarin, Marvel would risk the movie not being shown in China or having most of the movie cut out, and that can hurt their box office earnings. If Marvel just changed them just for the hell of it, I'd be upset, but given the reasoning behind it, it's understandable.
