More Sin City 2 Confessions

Director Robert Rodriguez says the sequel will have the same look as the original and confirms A Dame to Kill For will be the source material.
Sin City director Robert Rodriguez is riding the popularity of the DVD's release this week to promote the planned sequel.

He admits he was a bit surprised by the film's theatrical popularity and says it may have benefited from the recent boom in comic book movies: "I thought it was just be something people discover on DVD. You don’t know how people are going to react to, you know, black and white. I knew it was going to be something different and people might not discover right away, but later would find that it was something really cool. So I was surprised that people found it right off," Rodriguez told Latino Review.

Because he directed the Spy Kids movies, the interviewer asked if Sin City would ever be in 3-D. "That would be a great 3-D movie! You’ve got the panels coming off and stuff,' he said.

Regarding partner Frank Miller wanting to direct: "He wants to, he loves it now. He says 'I can see why you want to do this all the time; he can't wait to get back on the set," he said.

"A Dame to Kill For is the basis for the second one," it'll also be shot in green-screen and "I think Marv (Mickey Rourke) will come back, before he died and Dwight’s (Clive Owen) in that one, Gail's (Rosario Dawson) in that one, both Goldie and Wendy (Jaime King) are together, you see the twins together – one blonde, the other black and white, Miho's (Devon Aoki) in that one, and then there's a bunch of new characters," Rodriguez said.

"We're still writing the script to see if there's enough for a third one or we might just stick with the second one," he said, which will start filming in January or earlier.
