Story details for the Marvel comics adaption have been leaking out on to the internet, and though it seems that Vaughn and Mark Protosevich have written up another draft, the plot seems to point towards a massive epic movie. This could definitely be the boost in the pants this movie needs to separate itself from the plethora of comic movies coming, and make it big at the box office.
And this is definitely what it looks like Vaughn is hoping to do, considering that according to an article at the Guardian which took a look at a week in Vaughn’s life, the budget for the current draft had been costed at $300(USD) million.
“My phone has just rung. Marvel loves the script. The only problem is that it has been costed at $300m and they ask how I am going to reduce it by $150m. I think I prefer being asked what it's like working with De Niro.”
Our hopes are now that, even though he’ll have to rewrite a little bit to get the budget down a bit, the essence of the film will still remain, because an epic Thor is just what we want!
