It’s been quiet on the western front – or at least, the JL front – for the past month or so, since we heard that Tyrese Gibson might be up for the role of Green Lantern John Stewart. We’ve finally got a bit more news though, but it is a little troubling.

The good folks over at IESB.net have managed to scramble together a few casting notes, and it is sending some shivers of fear through them and myself.

First of all, for the role of John Stewart, aka, the Green Lantern (earth’s third if my memory serves me correct), WB studio executives are looking at Tyrese Gibson and Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr. aka Common, (who?) to read for the role. No confirmations have been acquired just yet from individual representation, but still (who?).

The next on the list is who those WB execs are hoping will read for the role of the Flash. We’ve known for awhile now that Ryan Reynolds has not only been in line for the role of Flash, but also wanted the role. But according to IESB Adam Brody and Justin Long are wanted to read for the part.

IESB stresses that they don’t know whether they have or will read for the part, or if it is “just an exec talking out loud”. Nevertheless, if these are the rumors floating around, one has to worry about the direction they are taking this movie.

For this writers own opinion? Hal Jordan should be the Green Lantern in question, played by David Boreanaz, and Ryan Reynolds portraying Wally West, not Barry Allen. For the rest of my cast, click here.
