The past 15 years have produced a pantsload of superhero films. It's hard to even remember a time before Superman, Batman, Spider-man, and Captain America dominated the summer box office. So are movie studios just lazy and out of ideas? Or is something else going on? Super-heroes are authority figures who put their world in order. They are ALSO the products of the culture from which they originate. So what does it say about our cultural state of affairs that we willingly consume 6+ superhero flicks a year? Write your thoughts down below!

Because they make bookoos of money!
SuperCat - 6/13/2014, 7:55 AM
Hollywood doesn't give a sh*t about storytelling. They know these movies generate money.

SuperCat - 6/13/2014, 7:55 AM
@ Nomis

Right!!
Desrow - 6/13/2014, 7:57 AM

@ Supercat - right back at 'cha! ;)

There's not enough integrity in Hollywood toward the audiences today to give a crap about good or substantial storytelling!

it's all about the almighty dollar!
Gusto - 6/13/2014, 7:59 AM
Beaucoup...Tea would be appalled at your lack of knowledge of his native tongue!

no, you're just taking one thing and wearing it on your wrist,

and trying to act like your jacket is more expensive becuz of it.
i don't buy it.

i really don't like arguments like you're trying to make. and i say that with hostility becuz i don't even think you're trying to make an argument. you're doing something else, god knows why.
Gusto - 6/13/2014, 8:07 AM
LMFAO! Ass!!!
dethpillow - 6/13/2014, 8:08 AM
and most obvious reason for your fake question, is that the technology has made it possible recently. that's all.
TheDudeRusty - 6/13/2014, 8:13 AM
6? Maybe 6 CBMs but at most only 4 are superhero movies which isn't that many and they show more quality than original works.
SuperCat - 6/13/2014, 8:14 AM
The days of the auteur is pretty much gone. When Hollywood hires a director passionate about the project he or she is working on, studio execs pretty much hamper their vision because they want some rushed sh*t. At the end of the day, it's a business. We have been lucky enough to get some good films though.
McGee - 6/13/2014, 8:32 AM
Real question...

Why hasn't there been enough Superhero skin flicks?

JediPhilosopher - 6/13/2014, 8:45 AM
I'd rather have less superhero movies of great quality than more of the crap they seem to be set on doing for the foreseeable future. What they did to Superman (which as a domino-effect removed much of my interest in its sequels) is unforgivable.
McGee - 6/13/2014, 9:01 AM
^^ I hated Superman Returns as well!

Here you go Gusto.

Vsauce wannabe.
MexicanChinman - 6/13/2014, 9:02 AM
@JediPhilosopher, unforgivable? I think it is time to get out your mom's basement.
Nomis - 6/13/2014, 9:03 AM
@ Gusto - that's the rumor!

batz11 - 6/13/2014, 9:03 AM
Well said @SC!
Nomis - 6/13/2014, 9:04 AM
@ McGee- LOL!!!!! Yeah he must've been talking about singer crappfest!
MexicanChinman - 6/13/2014, 9:04 AM
@ Gusto, I'm surprised you know how to use a computer with your old ass.
Gusto - 6/13/2014, 9:07 AM

Thanks!
Gusto - 6/13/2014, 9:08 AM
LOL...bite my ass, Mexy!!!
sKeemAn - 6/13/2014, 9:10 AM
Money and Technology are the key. Superhero films have never looked better than they have now. And yes they generate billions.
Gusto - 6/13/2014, 9:13 AM
Oh...Happy Friday!

JediPhilosopher - 6/13/2014, 9:13 AM
Changed his history. And okay yes, SR sucked too.
JediPhilosopher - 6/13/2014, 9:16 AM
He looked great in MOS though. Credit where it's due.
JediPhilosopher - 6/13/2014, 9:20 AM
And it is time to get out of my Mom's basement. But my father told me to never do anything good that will expose who I am. So I can't afford to live anywhere else. Just a wandering itinerate worker. It's pretty sad.
Ramiel - 6/13/2014, 9:29 AM
Why did he even bring up race? Did the Romans complain that all their heros were one color? How about the Scandinavians? or the Jews? or the Africans? And the Japanese?
McGee - 6/13/2014, 9:37 AM
Gusto...Just because it's Friday the 13th, doesn't mean you have to post pictures of Justin Bieber.
MightyZeus - 6/13/2014, 9:38 AM
Because super hero movies are awesome. Seem's like comic book films are getting better anyway. Man of Steel, Captain America The Winter Soldier, DOFP, The Avengers.
McGee - 6/13/2014, 9:39 AM
@Ramiel

The Americans did.

Nomis - 6/13/2014, 9:56 AM
Why are some of the porn parodies uniforms better looking that the movies version?
JediPhilosopher - 6/13/2014, 9:59 AM
Because the people who make movies like to make the characters nowhere near resemble their comic book origins, because they can't imagine it working.
JediPhilosopher - 6/13/2014, 10:00 AM
A complaint I don't have about MOS by the way. Ironically.
