COMIC BOOK HOTTIE: Rosario Dawson Gets Political

The sexy Rosario Dawson of Sin City fame comments on this year's presidential campaign. So nice to see a hot, comic book nerd who is obviously smart and thoughtful about current political issues.

WHAT?
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 4:42 PM
Man face dude. Not attractive. The only difference between her and Prince is the chest area.
xstryker - 5/7/2012, 4:44 PM
Another sandwich joke. Ok, I'm pretty sure I can find another site to get news from.

What is with the incredibly sexist and misogynistic remark? What is wrong with you? It's 2012; stop being so closed minded and ignorant.

Hah Women in politics that'll be the day jk
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 4:51 PM
You know, whenever I hear celebrities talk politics, I always think, "What makes them a better expert on politics than other people?"

Seriously, in the end they have one vote just like everyone else. Also, there are other actual experts that have some authority in what they say.

This crap... no different than hearing an average Joe's opinion.
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 4:53 PM
Maybe even less credibility than the average Joe because... you know, she's probably making a lot more than most Americans. What's she complaining about?
Asterisk - 5/7/2012, 4:54 PM
lol

That movie is all I can think about when I see her
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 4:54 PM
I do agree with her though. Politics should be about policies, not character attacks.
GUNSMITH - 5/7/2012, 4:55 PM
LOL THAT REPORTER HAS THIS LOOK ON HIM LIKE HE'S THINKING," I MEMORIZED THESE QUESTIONS, JUST SAY THE QUESTIONS, DON'T LOOK AT HER BODY DONT LOOK AT HER BODY... KEEP EYE CONTACT......I'M NOT THINKING ABOUT ANYTHING SEXUAL...I AM A REPORTER, I DON'T KNOW WTF SHE'S SAYING BUT NOD YOUR HEAD, NO YOU MIGHT LOOK AT HER BODY EYES UP BE COOL BE COOL, KEEP EYE CONTACT AND SHE WON'T NOTICE THE BONER.."

SEXY COMIC NERDS...HER AN OLIVIA MUNN ARE SEXY
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 4:59 PM
I'm with Galactus on this one though. She does ramble on quite a bit here.

To women people say, "Shut up and make me a sandwich."

To men it's just, "Go [frick] yourself"

...

I'd rather make a sandwich...
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 5:00 PM
Trust me women... men treat each other much worse than they treat the other sex. Stop complaining about it.
bls91183 - 5/7/2012, 5:02 PM
wow... a beautiful hollywood-girl that isn't a dumb liberal tool... i do believe i'm in love.
Greengo - 5/7/2012, 5:14 PM
Just1Superguy: are you not listening?
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 5:15 PM
So 50% of the country are idiots, racists, or rich?

And democrats are all douchebags, according to you representing them...

But see, I don't make it a point to judge a group by their falsified, extreme fringes.

This was exactly what she was talking about. How people have no civility in political discussions.

You do your party no service by calling the other guy an idiot.
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 5:16 PM
Isn't the point of politics to convince people on the other side to change their minds. How does insulting someone make them want to join you?
Greengo - 5/7/2012, 5:16 PM
Just1Evildoer:

Don't you have a park downtown to Occupy or something?
bls91183 - 5/7/2012, 5:20 PM
@just1superguy - it's kinda ironic you say that, because only idiot, racist, rich people vote democrat... also, fascist and poor people. oh, and people with doctoral degrees in useless shit like philosophy and sociology... i guess that woulda counted under the "poor people" category though.
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 5:21 PM
See, I ignored democrats for most of my life because everytime they'd just start attacking and abusing me verbally, calling me evil, a bigot, old fashioned... blah blah blah blah.

Then I had a democrat room mate that actually talked to me like a friend. We had awesome discussions and found a lot of new ideas that neither side could come up with by themselves.

Things would actually be better if we all stopped drawing lines in the sand.

In the end, the whole left/right thing is as dumb as Marvel vs DC.
GUNSMITH - 5/7/2012, 5:29 PM
I DONT THINK GETTING A NEW PRESIDENT WILL CHANGE ANYTHING, JUST ANOTHER GUY MAKING FALSE PROMISES THROWING SMILES AND TELLING YOU WHAT YOU WANNA HEAR,
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 5:30 PM
The thing about Sweden and Germany... they have a much more manageable sized population and are much more homogenous racially and culturally than the US. When everyone belongs to the same ethical/cultural/racial group it's a lot easier to get things done because it's a lot easier to get along with people with the same goals and values you do.

When it's a melting pot chaotic mixture like the US... it's a lot harder to organize things.

Also a system that relies on the integrity of a corrupt bureaucracy to get things done will never work. Left or right, the government is practically useless because of all the corruption all the way through the organizations and agencies.

If the government was more trustworthy and efficient, then maybe I'd trust it with health care and charity.

As of now, I don't trust the fed as far as I can throw them. So for now, I'm for small government to minimize the effects of a corrupt system.
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 5:33 PM
Germany is practically a state that is in the "macro-nation" that is Europe. And how are the other socialist countries fairing? Greece? Italy? France? Boy, they're really doing well right now right?
Powergirl - 5/7/2012, 5:36 PM
Just1Superguy,
I think the Reagan era is plenty of proof of Republican economic success. That is mine, now show me yours. Name one socialist country that has succeeded.
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 5:37 PM
You know what created jobs in the 40s... [frick]ing WW2!

There were more jobs in the US because Europe was flattened. No other country really to compete with.

What caused us to decline... Vietnam and all those hippies giving up industry and work so they can promote "peace and pot" and chill and woodstock.

Plus the worst inflation was during Carter's watch...

Politics suck all around and the economy goes up and down with or without the govt's help or harm.

Don't believe me, go read Adam Smith.
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 5:40 PM
Until our government gets white washed and replaced with actual experts on economy, war, etc... rather than puppets of various interest groups that don't represent the public, it doesn't matter who you vote for.
JackBauer - 5/7/2012, 5:40 PM
Only idiots are against stricter voter ID laws. Having said that, I'd knock the bottom out of that :)
Powergirl - 5/7/2012, 5:42 PM
It seems to me that conservative whites are the REAL minority group in the USA. They can't say anything without someone playing the race card on them, and there are so many laws on the books and government programs for all the other groups that crying about American racism is kinda silly.
Greengo - 5/7/2012, 5:43 PM
Just1Superliberal:

Is Herman Cain/Allen West racist? We can have a conversation with out busting out the old liberal strategy of name calling. But hey if you want I can call you names too.

You want America to end up a socialist entitlement society where you sacrifice your freedom and liberty in exchange for more government intervention and regulation on our daily lives.

These radical liberals are banning bake sales in Massachusetts and Happy Meals in San Francisco, forcing us to pay for other people's life style choices, and I'm sure to you this is all very honorable.

And you want to use Europe as a model for America you better take a closer look on what's going on right now. Europe is a [frick]ed up continent.
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 5:43 PM
@Just1Superguy

So racism is bad but attacking people based on religion is fine?

The left is just as guilty of being intolerant and the right. You know how many times I've been attacked verbally and physically for being a Mormon? One atheist broke my arm and put me in the hospital in high school, trying to prove to me that God wasn't there to help...

Wasn't really feeling the "tolerant liberal" then, I could tell you that much.
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 5:44 PM
Yeah... because China is such a great place to live.
JackBauer - 5/7/2012, 5:45 PM
@Just1Superguy - Where do you get your information? I'm from Alabama and what you would consider right-wing. I have no problem with interracial marriage or same sex marriage for that matter.
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 5:45 PM
2 Million jobs, half from the Census that went away after two months.
Greengo - 5/7/2012, 5:46 PM
FDR and the New Deal where miserable failures.

@just1: Republicans want to reform the entitlement programs so they don't collapse.

When Social Security was enacted the average life expectancy was 63 and they kicked in at 65!!! The life exspectancy now is 75 and the dems don't want to raise the age when you start receiving benefits to 67.
IT IS UNSUSTAINABLE.. IT WILL COLLAPSE AND THEIR WON'T BE SHIT FOR ANYONE.
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 5:47 PM
Shoot, Avengers is sustaining more jobs than Obama is. All those theaters and workers getting paid off of Whedon's succees. Whedon for president in that case!
Greengo - 5/7/2012, 5:50 PM
Just1Superguy is just another mindless drone.

He gets his infornation from MSDNC and CNN and doesn't think objectively. He just regurgitates the destortions and lies he's been fed by the MSM.
Powergirl - 5/7/2012, 5:52 PM
Just1Superguy,
China, while communist, embraces a form capitalism--not socialism. Communist Russia would be a better example, and we all know what happened to the USSR. The fact is, everywhere its been tried, it has failed. Yet you liberals keep coming back to the dirty well to drink out of it again and again. And as for your jobs comment, Obama is running at a net loss on creating jobs. You're stuck in your liberal talking points and are denying facts.
BlindLemonShemp - 5/7/2012, 5:55 PM
this is awesome... someone should bring up politics on this site every day

finally an argument that trumps the whole marvel/dc circus...

for my money, its Ron Paul or nothing... but thats just me, and im sure lots of people will find something wrong with that... and thats ok, too

because isn't the point to vote for what you believe in? one person, one vote. as long as you believe in what your supporting, and respect others for believing in what they support, then maybe we can all learn from each other... instead of spiraling into a hate-speech filled post war
ThaMessenger07 - 5/7/2012, 5:56 PM
Just1Superguy, Lol we are still suffering from unemployment. Just because people can't collect unemployment doesn't mean there employed.

Obama has done little to nothing and it's not his nor any other presidents fault. At this point all every president can do is pretend to pay back a never ending debt we accepted in 1913.

Go ahead, vote for the "liberals" that wan't to limit our liberties.

Or you vote for the "conservatives" who can't find it in them to be conservative.

It's a large contradiction and only helps to further confuse the youth in our society.

Like you...
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 6:00 PM
Poli sci major... probably at a liberal college where the other side is snuffed every time they open their mouths.

What a surprise. Studying shit in a book is nothing compared to practical sense and experience. You judge the world based on something a professor said somewhere. So what?

There are infinite amount of variables to everything. Left and right is just one of them. The person in charge isn't as important as the people below them living their lives like normal.

Government is best when it does what it's supposed to do: preventing corruption, theft, monopolies, falsifications, and so on. But when the government is as guilty as the people they're governing, it's pointless really.

Who cares if you're [frick]ing poli sci? Join the club. A degree in political science doesn't make your opinions any more valid than the middle aged dad who's only gotten his GED working downtown at the barber shop.
MVKone - 5/7/2012, 6:03 PM
@ComicBookMovie - You say it is a joke, but those sort of jokes lay down the seeds for legitimate misogynistic behavior. Jokes like that tasteless, and are't funny in the slightest. All you accomplish with a joke like that is reaffirm the idea that our community is generally sexist, and pretty much wards off women who might be interested in joining this community. For proof of the general sexist attitude, look no further than at some of the other comments made on this article. Also by saying it's just a joke trivializes the problem at hand. I'm also not being overly sensitive, it's your insensitivity to what your "joke" does that's a real issue.
@SuspenseSmith - I can understand your assumption that me complaining would lead to that idea that I am a woman. I am not. I don't need to be a woman to take an issue with a comment like that. Also, I am simply a guy who is tired with how things are. Also, since this website is a news site, such "jokes" and opinions should not be present in the articles. All that should appear is the presentation of the facts. Opinions can go in the comments section. Try to lift the editorial standard of this website.
gaikinger - 5/7/2012, 6:06 PM
Living in this Obama economy is like getting constantly strangled. At this same point during the post-Carter Reagan administration the economy was rockn! Cant wait to be rid of this never-shoulda-been.
As for Rasario, she seems pretty cool for a Hollywood gal...i'm impressed. However her facts about voter registration are false. You can show up with a Costco card and vote. Something...anything with a photo I.D., is that too much to ask?
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 6:07 PM
@MVKone

Yes, well, my arguments still stands. Because of the way men see women as different from themselves, they treat them better overall than they treat themselves. misogynistic behavior is a sad side effect. But division among the sexes also has things like chivalry and respect to women attached to it.

I have to admit though, there should be a lot more chivalry nowadays than there is.
Greengo - 5/7/2012, 6:13 PM
Just1Superguy: Ummmmmm.... that's nothing to be proud of.

Also you say only racists and rich people are Republicans.. Obama's rich and he's not a republican, I'm starting to think ol Barry is racist too.
He could be the Republican nominee according to your standards lmao

Guess he didn't get the memo lol : )
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 6:14 PM
@Just1

I don't know about everyone else. But I had a job when Bush was in office. And ever sense Obama got elected, I haven't had a job. Luckily I saved enough and am paying my own way through college now. But it still worries me because most of my friends that have graduated can't find jobs... some with MBAs or other masters degrees.

Sure there might be more jobs, but from my street view of things, I see a lot of unemployed people.

See what I mean about statistics and books vs real life.

That's what people see. That's how people vote, based on their personal life, not some statistics that may or may not be true or accurate.

That's the difference between Cultural anthropology and Sociology, and why I can't stomach sociologists most of the time.
MVKone - 5/7/2012, 6:17 PM
@ComicBookMovie - It's not about political correctness, it's about awareness of a serious issue, one that applies to the readership of this website.

@SuspenseSmith - Men don't generally treat women better than men. That is a twisted perception. Men have historically looked at women and told them their place is at home, in the kitchen, and with the kids. That is not better treatment. Also, do some research on chivalry. That was an institution created by nobles (i.e. the wealthy power wielding men of the Medieval period) that only applied to men of the same social status. Commoners, and noble women were not afforded the benefits of chivalry. Even the "romantic" chivalrous acts that were performed on behalf of women did little to offset the way women were treated then. You look at that concept with misinformed rose-colored glasses.
Powergirl - 5/7/2012, 6:20 PM
Just1Superguy,
That chart is misleading and needs to be put into perspective. Here is a quick summary for you to check out...

We are still in negative territory in terms of the number of jobs since Obama took office. We still have 1,152,000 FEWER jobs now than when Obama was inaugurated and 549,000 FEWER jobs in the private sector than when Obama was inaugurated.

Using your data from the BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics). All numbers lost to the "trough" of the recession reflect ALL non-farm jobs lost between the time Obama took office and the lowest point of the recession in late 2009/early 2010 :
Note: All of the jobs numbers are NET numbers. In other words, we know that jobs are lost and added every month, in good years and in bad. The numbers reported here, based on Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers, are "net" numbers; that is, the number of jobs gained after the number of jobs lost is subtracted. Or the number of jobs lost after the number of jobs gained is added.
Seasonally adjusted:
All jobs lost from the time Obama took office to "trough" (bottom of recession): .....4,317,000
All jobs gained since "trough": ....3,165,000

Net LOSS in seasonally-adjusted jobs since Obama took office: ....1,152,000

"Raw:" numbers not seasonally adjusted:
Jobs lost from the time Obama took office to trough: .....4,246,000
Jobs gained since "trough": .....2,954,000

Net LOSS in raw unadjusted jobs since Obama took office: .....1,292,000

How many private sector jobs have been gained or lost since Obama took office?

Seasonally adjusted:
Private-sector jobs lost to "trough" (bottom of recession): .....4,212,000
Private-sector jobs gained since "trough": .....3,663,000

*(This is the number often used by Obama and the Democrats as the number of private jobs created since the "trough" of the recession . It is a correct number, but it is a seasonally-adjusted number. In "real" unadjusted numbers, 3,470,000 private sector jobs have been created since the "trough" of the recession.)

Net LOSS in seasonally-adjusted private-sector jobs since Obama took office: ....549,000

"Raw:" numbers not seasonally adjusted:
Private-sector jobs lost to "trough": .....4,151,000
Private-sector jobs gained since "trough": .....3,470,000

Net LOSS in "raw" unadjusted private-sector jobs since Obama took office: .....681,000

Your turn college boy.
SuspenseSmith - 5/7/2012, 6:22 PM
@BlindLemonShemp

I don't know man. This argument is getting rather pointless. I feel like I'm arguing about music with a deaf person.

So... who will make more money, Avengers or The Dark Knight Rises?

I think this guy's got some valid points.

Greengo - 5/7/2012, 6:25 PM
Saying Obama is responsible for the killiing of bin Laden is like saying Ronald McDonald is responsible for the Big Mac.
