This Fourth of July twenty-fourth of June, Earth reclaims its Independence for the second time.

We're only a couple weeks out from Independence Day: Resurgence where we'll get a chance to witness Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Liam Hemsworth, and Jessie Usher battle an entire race of aliens hellbent on destroying everything Earth holds dear, especially our monuments. The Roland Emmerich-directed film will of course play in IMAX theaters worldwide and to commemorate the occasion, IMAX has released a very neat new poster for the film incorporating Earth's impending doom with a ragtag group of heroic soldiers showing no quarter.

Check out the new poster below:

Plus, here are a pair of new banners:

I've always like alien invasion movies. I like the whole Humans v aliens concept.

@marvelstudios - in reality though... we'd likely be annihilated very quickly
marvelstudios

@Kman - In reality, humans haven't come in contact with bacteria in outer space let alone sentient alien beings.

Also, I never got why people always assumed if we came in contact with aliens, that we would be the technologically inferior species.

@marvelstudios - Well I mean they're traveling millions of lightyears through space or time or wormholes or things we couldn't even comprehend yet. So if they made it to Earth, it's pretty much a guarantee they would be so farther advanced than us that we would most likely not stand a chance. We can't even reach Mars with astronauts yet. So that's a pretty logical conclusion. And based on our human history with each other, the outcome of a visit from other beings has a high percentage of being bad for us.

@marvelstudios - To be fair, "Come in contact" and being visited would be two entirely different things.
marvelstudios
marvelstudios - 6/2/2016, 11:28 AM
@Kman - Assuming they have the capability to do everything you said.
Kman
Kman - 6/2/2016, 11:37 AM
@marvelstudios - Well I don't think they would be able to visit Earth without those capabilities... It's not exactly simple
marvelstudios

@Kman - Who said they have to visit Earth to make contact?

Could be, in the distant future, humans are capable of travelling further into space. Contact could be made then. Provided what you said, doesn't happen first.

@marvelstudios - well that's why I said above earlier... "making contact" and them "visiting Earth" are two very different things. I'm only speaking on the "visiting Earth" scenario.

They're going with this whole "we always knew they'd be back" angle but was that idea even mentioned in the original movie?
