We're now about a month away from the release of Godzilla Vs. Kong, and Legendary Pictures has shared the first clip from the highly-anticipated monster mash.

The 40-second sneak-peek sees Godzilla hurtling through the ocean, leaving a trail of fiery destruction in his path. Towards the end of the clip, we see that he's making his way towards Kong, who is struggling to break free of his chains before their inevitable face-off. Both beasts let out a roar as Big G approaches, but the footage ends before we see them throw down.

While an early synopsis for the movie assured us that "one will fall," the prevailing theory is that Godzilla and Kong will ultimately join forces to stop a larger threat (Mecha-Godzilla? Mecha-Ghidorah?) to the planet - but that doesn't mean they won't do some serious damage to each other beforehand.

Check out the new clip below.

“Legends collide as these mythic adversaries meet in a spectacular battle for the ages, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance. Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home, and with them is Jia, a young orphaned girl with whom he has formed a unique and powerful bond. But they unexpectedly find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla, cutting a swath of destruction across the globe. The epic clash between the two titans—instigated by unseen forces—is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the Earth.”

Starring Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Eiza González, Julian Dennison, Shun Oguri, Jessica Henwick and Brian Tyree Henry, Godzilla Vs. Kong pits the two famous monsters against each other in an epic battle.

Eric Pearson (Thor: Ragnarok) and Max Borenstein (The Terror) wrote the screenplay, with Adam Wingard on board as director. The movie is set for release in theaters and on HBO Max on March 31.

Alright that bit was pretty sick. Loved the boat still being attached to Godzilla.

1: Love the Jaws nod
2: Is it just me or is the scale of these two all over the place in this movie?

@Ha1frican - I'm quite positive they wouldn't screw up the scale in such a big-budget film.

@Ha1frican - scale is accurate. They just made kong way bigger than he was in the last film

@Hulkh8liars - No I meant from shot to shot. Like one second his tail dwarves the ships, then they arent nearly as small when it attaches to him. Even in the trailer it felt like both Kong and Godzilla change size relative to their environment from shot to shot. the 2014 on always had a consistent sense of scale and space. Maybe its just the choices of shots but it looks inconsistent here to me how big they are at any given moment

@Ha1frican - I'm not seeing it

@Ha1frican - you’re correct. They’ve came out and said they’ve had to play around with the scale of characters, to pull off certain shots in the frame.

Makes sense to me, nothing wrong with a little movie camera and VFX trickery. Looks like they’ve done it in a successful way that won’t pull movie goers out of the movie.

@Se4M4NSt4ine - Well glad to know I’m not crazy lol. It doesn’t really bug me but I did notice, I’m more perceptive that’s most with a lot of effects and camera work as someone who is very into film making. I doubt even 90% wouldn’t notice or have an issue with it but continuity errors is often something that is glaring to me as someone always trying to figure out how a shot was done

@Ha1frican - I get you man. I think it comes down to how the characters are expected to fight, how they interact with life size objects for scale, and how they look on screen without it looking silly.

@Doomsday8888 - March is going to be crazy we are getting

WandaVision Finale

Cherry Premiere

Zack Snyder's Justice League

Falcon and the Winter Soldier Premiere

Godzilla vs Kong Premiere

Personally i'm excited or interested to see all of it. I'm just glad the content drought is alleviating at least slightly. Mandalorian and WandaVision kept me afloat but this last year of like nothing has been rough.
