Mary Louise Parker Studying up for Lois Lane Role?

Mary Louise Parker Studying up for Lois Lane Role?

Jim from Silverlake had an interesting tid-bit about a possible Lois pick for the Superman Reboot.

In case you don't know who she is, Mary is starring in another comic book movie (RED) right now alongside Bruce Willis. Here's what Jim says...

I use to run a comics website back in '99 called inked offering. Now run a book store. Anyway, being a fan of CBM, thought you and your troops might be interested in knowing - I'm sure you will - that Mary Louise Parker (Red) came in today and purchased three Superman graphic novels, including Death.

She was very nice but wouldn't say what they were for. Anyway, my assumptions are likely getting the better than me but is it all possible they're casting Lois older? Is that where the Jon Hamm rumors came from? It's all older?

Anyway, this might be of interest to a comic fan. Drop in sometime if you're in Silverlake.

Jim.

Nope, she's a hottie. She was great in RED too. I'd be fine with her as Lois. Its hard to know about these "seen buying comics" stories. But the Morrena Baccarin one seems like it might have some truth to it, so who knows.
cptamericanotsomuch - 10/18/2010, 9:28 AM
shes a shit actress the only good part about weeds was the MILF weed
Shaman - 10/18/2010, 9:28 AM
She could be studying to audition in our near future. Doesn't mean she's being concidered for it... That being said, i'd prefer an older/experienced journalist for Lois Lane (like Mary Louise Parker) than a young, up and comming Lois starting at the bottom of the latter. Her reputation SHOULD be preceeding her character when Clark comes in to Metropolis for the first time. And she has a nice ass so why not?
naterator - 10/18/2010, 9:31 AM
they ought to cast her older.... i like it. i think that mid thirties is the way to go even for the new supes... no more twenty somethings. Sounds like great news.
LEEE777 - 10/18/2010, 9:33 AM
Mmmm not bad, don't really know her but I'm still on the Michelle Monaghan boat!

: P

P.S. Thats a BIG snake! : D
Shaman - 10/18/2010, 9:34 AM
naterator-I agree, that would also make Routh perfect for the job ;) Welling could never look his age even with surgery! That guy should start smoking hard if he ever wants to be Sups on the big screen LOL.
tazmaniak - 10/18/2010, 9:38 AM
If someone comes into a store to buy comic books, wouldn't the assumption be they are going to read them because maybe they like the character? Why would anyone assume she'd be researching a role?

Anyway, she is way too old for this movie. She'll be 48 when it comes out.
LEEE777 - 10/18/2010, 9:38 AM
Shaman @ Very true lol!
Shaman - 10/18/2010, 9:53 AM
tazmaniak- You have a point in regards to your age comment but not in regards to her purchase. Sorry but how many "40 something" year old actress, who purchase OLD and POPULAR graphic novels of comic books for anyone's enjoyment(even their own), do you know of? Sounds a bit far fetched for that side of the coin doesn't it? "Research" sounds more like it. But like i said, she could just be "hunting" for the gig, rather than actually be concidered by Snyder. But regardless of her age, she still looks like she's in her 30ies.
jbak368 - 10/18/2010, 9:57 AM
Isn't Welling older than Routh?
CaptainAmerica1 - 10/18/2010, 10:00 AM
She is 46 years old folks. This is just a drummed up rumor by her fans. Unless there is "future" sequence, or this is a "one-shot" film. She would be in her 50's for the next role. Lets get Margot Kidder back at that point....LOL
shahrazstate - 10/18/2010, 10:02 AM
Olivia Wilde for Lois Lane and no one else
metropolisman - 10/18/2010, 10:06 AM
you kno she might be researching another role...or she might just like superman...or maybe buying the comic books for her kids or something...this way to speculative...i highly doubt they would cast her as lois lane though....not that shes a bad actress (i lover her in weeds) but their are so many more people more qualified to play that character. I personally like Kate Beckinsale for Lois Lane
RorMachine - 10/18/2010, 10:07 AM
Is she 46?? Holy shit! I didn't know that. I thought late 30s.
lc - 10/18/2010, 10:17 AM
@LEEE i give you mmmm you sAd twat!
marvel72 - 10/18/2010, 10:17 AM
oliva wilde or emily blunt for lois lane.
SHAZAM171 - 10/18/2010, 10:24 AM
KATE BECKINSALE!!!!!!!! ; )~
Shaman - 10/18/2010, 10:28 AM
Ror- My point exactly. If she looks the part, who cares about what's written on her driver's license? :)

jbak368- My point exactly. If he doesn't look his age, who cares about what's written on his driver's license? :P
P862010 - 10/18/2010, 10:30 AM
you dont have to be 46 to be an experienced reporter lol
Shaman - 10/18/2010, 10:47 AM
P862010 & RacerREX- ...good points LOL
omegamojo - 10/18/2010, 10:47 AM
Ummm, yes she looks great, but she's pushing 50. Makes no sense unless of course they go with someone like Hamm. I personally would not be too hip with that older approach. It doesn't jive with what Snyder said about this taking place in Superman's early years.

@LEEE777 fantastic call on Monaghan, but if you want a big mainstream audience I'd go with Rachel McAdams like someone else has said somewhere or something...
AlexDeLarge87 - 10/18/2010, 10:52 AM
HOT YES! But if she ends up to be Lois i think Jon Hamm should be a Superman!

Armie Hammer, Henry Cavill, Spencer Conway, Matt Bomer (Just make him look taller in the movie) or Daniel Cudmore as Superman
Odette Yustman or Michelle Monaghan as Lois Lane
Jason Isaacs as Lex Luthor
LP4 - 10/18/2010, 11:15 AM
She COULD be a good Lois. Just use some of that Hollywood magic to make her look younger. She could be an interesting Lois Lane.
ThePencilNeck - 10/18/2010, 11:19 AM
She could just be buying the books as a gift for someone.

I can't really see her as the next Lois Lane.
cole33 - 10/18/2010, 11:26 AM
Not a single person on here knew she was in her 40's just by looking at her, I thought she was in her mid 30's

I think both need to be over 30 and LOOK over 30

every time a Maxim magazine type girl is hired the movie fails.

go for adult TRAINED actors that don't look ONLY look like bathroom time material for 16 yr olds and the smallville crowd.

ERIC BANA would be an awesome superman. he's 6'3" got the hair, def has acting skill, and can do boy scout and warrior.

patriautism - 10/18/2010, 11:30 AM
Yeah you really can't base any casting news on the fact that someone said she bought Superman books.
They could just be a gift or maybe she likes to read them.
A lot of people do like to read Superman comics.
CaptainQuirk - 10/18/2010, 11:30 AM
EMILY BLUNT IS LOIS LANE!
ElBicho - 10/18/2010, 11:37 AM
I'm with Shazam, Beckinsale all the way!
BIGBMH - 10/18/2010, 11:44 AM

Too old to begin the training.
So is Beckinsale, even if she is hot.
No to Blunt and Monaghan too. Come on guys! You can do better than this!
Mysterion - 10/18/2010, 11:46 AM

Shaman - 10/18/2010, 12:35 PM
Anne Hathaway would be perfect for Lois ;)
icebergslick - 10/18/2010, 12:36 PM

UltimaRex - 10/18/2010, 1:24 PM

KillingJoke26 - 10/18/2010, 1:28 PM
ANNE HATHAWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cole33 - 10/18/2010, 1:52 PM
MLP would be a good choice, hopefully they stay away from the tween/teen choices.

I'd say Kate winslett, cate blanchett, Jennifer connolly would be great.

all the choices above seem like and Hot young plucky side kick role.

not a serious reporter role.
UltimaRex - 10/18/2010, 2:03 PM
Superman's early days.

EARLY.

DAYS.

Sheesh...
YearOne - 10/18/2010, 2:06 PM
Holy smokes she is gorgeous, I'd definitely want her to get the role, she's like pure eye candy. I hope there's a scene where she goes to an open window during a full moon and you can see her full backside. I also hope she can act. :)
AsianAvenger - 10/18/2010, 2:18 PM
She is a good choice and my other choices are Kate Beckinsale, Emily Blunt, or Rhona Mitra
YearOne - 10/18/2010, 2:23 PM
You have to have those big tiger like eyes to be Lois Lane. I think that's what I've grown accustomed to.

Shiny, beautiful eyes.
JustinMSalvato - 10/18/2010, 3:35 PM
Why would they want a soft-porn actress to play Lois..?
secretasianboy - 10/18/2010, 3:43 PM
na too old
cgrass5150 - 10/18/2010, 4:28 PM
LLLLLAAAAAMMMMMOOOOO!!!
Layperson - 10/18/2010, 4:42 PM
Wow, um, well I'm not sure what to think of this. Personally, I think she's more than capable of pulling off Lois. She not a bad actress by any means and she's got the demeanor as well. I suppose that when I argued for an older Superman I should have expected an older Lois as well, but I have to admit...I'm rather shocked that this is even a possibility.

However, there could be a larger idea in the works. What if--and I'm just pulling stuff off the top of my head here--

What if they do cast Hamm and Parker in the role, with the idea that a they will make 2 maybe 3 movies before a Justice League movie that will be based (albeit loosely) off of Kingdom Come? I suppose if they shot the Superman movies at the same time (like Donner did/tried to do) then the age may not be such an issue...maybe it'd even be an asset. I'm not saying that this happening, or even that it could be done; as a matter of fact, I doubt sincerely that it is, but it would be an interesting way to go.

Parker isn't my ideal of the perfect Lois, but put into context I could see her being cast as a possibility. More than likely she was picking them up for her nephew or something.
