Superman Henry Cavill Bestows MAN OF STEEL Commemorative Coin

To celebrate the conclusion of a long and successful production, actor Henry Cavill has gone out of his way to present Gym Jones with a fantastic Man of Steel souvenir. Update: leaked set video with a snippet of Superman.

Gym Jones' Lisa Twight tweeted the image, along with a thank you message.

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. If the creators of the superman movies dont completely destroy the christopher reeve mythos,then all superman films will reek of old idea. christopher reeve was fine at the time,for two movies at least,but let it go please.

Marvel and Nolan has showed the way. For every CBM success story, it undoubtedly affect the whole franchise. With higher estimation of total demand follows higher allocation of money into productions. It will probably redeem the classic Christopher Reeves movies.

And he will be the BEST Superman of all time. Step aside Christopher Reeve! Henry Cavill is coming to take the throne!! Cavill > Reeve He looks more like Superman too IMO. Not trying to start a Reeve vs. Cavill fan war, I'm just tired of everyone thinking that Reeve is the ideal Superman. Time to move on to bigger and better things. And I also hope they replace the John Williams theme. The way this movie is sounding, I don't think it'll fit anyway.
	thetrojan - 4/22/2012, 8:08 AM Login to report abuse totally agree julez13 complete re-boot or there is no point whatsoever the whole world knows who superman is,he is established,now lets get creative with him. the avengers are a hell of a lot younger than supes and therefore to see them almost exactly as their stereotypes is needed at this satge and welcomed. Henry Cavill is a great actor in these type of roles and should play both characters well. I want the cinema to shake when superman and zod start trading blows,and at the start of the watchmen movie,comedian and ozymandias- that was superhuman fighting going down.so that is a good sign.

I dont like everything Grant has written,but this was a genius book. The animation was lousy though. i think that when filmmakers are allowed to be artists regardless of budgets and demographics and sales figures.. we may be allowed to go to a cinema or sit at home with a new treat and not a constant retelling of the mythos. ooops,losing the plot there ALL-STAR SUPERMAN would have been a wonderful movie. The film company could just bombard the world with documentaries and reminders of the Superman story and then BAM! ALL-STAR SUPERMAN.

There's a difference between being an optimistic, supportive fan and getting ahead of yourself. We have seen nothing of his performance. We don't know how the character is written. Let's wait a second before we all kneel and hand him the crown. In regards to Reeve, there is definitely something special about his performance. He was the Superman of his era and it speaks volumes that over 30 years after his first movie as the character, most still agree that he is the best. That said, I'm excited to see if Cavill can do for modern audiences what Reeve did all those years ago. Even if he is more suitable for our era, I'm not sure if it'll be fair to call him better than Reeve because times are always changing and there will come a day when Cavill's Superman is retro and outdated. Only time will tell.

To accuse WB of what it does putting heroes on screen is hardly fair, when they helped put Supes and Batman on screen at a time no one else would.

On a scale of 1-100% I 120% agree with you. :) Reeve era is DONE...FINISHED and people need to finally let that guy go. He wasn't the best or even the ideal Superman. I could never connect with his Supes. Man of Steel will be the best Superman movie ever. Donner-heads and Routh-fans...take a hike :)

	Knightrider - 4/22/2012, 4:13 PM Login to report abuse I wouldn't say they didn't care about Green Lantern, I mean they pumped millions into it and from what I was hearing they were hoping that it would replace the Harry Potter franchise, but for what ever reason they let a script they seemed more like it was written in the 90's get made into a feature film. I agree that other characters need to get made and GL needs to be redone, but this will no doubt happen if the Avengers are a success (Which I no doubt believe it will).

He was good for his era, but NEVER did I think he was SO GREAT! Cavill has that classic look that will stand the test of time. He could play CK in the 30s, 50s, 70s - in any era and fit right in. He just has THE LOOK. Reeve definitely lacked that. But I can't say I didn't exactly connect with the guy. I enjoyed his first two films for what they were. I just wish this film was sticking more to the look of all the traditional characters. But I'm sure the script and Cavill will make up for the little annoying details. lol

Seriously, he couldn't be any more perfect for the role. @JULEZ Wow, I'm glad someone finally had the guts to say it. :) Don't get me wrong, Christopher Reeves was memorable as Superman. I enjoyed his performances and he brought a lot of heart to the role. You know, you could tell he was a really nice guy in real life, which added believability to him being a superhero. But we have to move on from that. And Brandon Routh was just too much like Reeves. People wanted to see a new Superman, not a carbon copy of Christopher Reeves. So I'm excited to see a modern and fresh take on Superman. I think Henry Cavill will be the Superman of my generation(1988). I'm really excited to see his portrayal of Superman, because it will be much different from what we've seen before. Also, I'm very interested about how the new Superman theme will sound. I hope it's modern, but still captures the spirit of the character.

I like the guy but its not that serious. Cavill is also a REALLY nice guy, very genuine which makes him even more perfect for the role. I was born in 91, so Cavill would also be the Superman of my generation.

He was the only real Superman in color we have on film, so of course he will always be there. I'm just saying that people need to realize that he isn't the epitome of Superman and eventually someone will and could come along that many people will believe is better than him. Cavill may or may not be better than him. But me and a lot of other fans believe that he has a good chance to be better. He already has the look, now we just have to see how he performs, so I agree with you to that extent. We should never forget the past but everyone must also look to the future and believe that the future could possibly be brighter than the past.

You could also say this is the Superman movie I've been waiting for as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the first two films, but even back then, I wanted to see a well done modern Superman movie. I was all excited for Superman Returns, and well, we all know how that turned out.
