THE FLASH Star Sasha Calle Says She Filmed "R-Rated" Deleted Scenes THE FLASH Star Sasha Calle Says She Filmed "R-Rated" Deleted Scenes

During a new interview, The Flash star Sasha Calle revealed that her Supergirl originally had a slightly bigger role in the movie, and some of the deleted scenes she filmed were "R-rated."

Sasha Calle's take on Supergirl is a highlight of The Flash, but she really doesn't have that much to do outside of the final action set-piece, and makes the most of her limited screen-time.

While watching the movie, it seems clear that Calle originally had a slightly bigger role, and the actress has now confirmed that she did indeed film scenes that didn't make the theatrical version... some of which sound like they may have pushed the violence a bit too far for the studio's liking!

During an interview with Collider, Calle talks about the intense training and stunt-work she put her body through to play the Girl of Steel, and mentions that the silo sequence (where the Scarlet Speedsters and Batman rescue Kara from a government facility) was originally longer - because some "R-rated deleted scenes" were cut.

Kara doesn't exactly hold back when taking down her captors after being released, so we can only imagine how much more brutal things would have been if these scenes were left in. Hopefully, we'll get to see Supergirl unleashed when The Flash arrives on Blu-ray.

"Directed by Andy Muschietti, The Flash features Barry Allen traveling back in time in order to change events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to help. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian…albeit not the one he’s looking for.

Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?"

The Flash is produced by Barbara Muschietti and Michael Disco, with a screenplay by Christina Hodson, and a screen story by John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein and Joby Harold, based on characters from DC. Warner Bros. Pictures presents a Double Dream/a Disco Factory production of an Andy Muschietti film.

I really hope we can get to see all these deleted scenes on the home release, as it's clear a lot was either cut or changed throughout the production of this movie.

@Th3Batman - totally, so much ended up cut. I’d like a full version. No matter how messy or nonsensical it is

She was serviceable as Kara, but Keaton smashed it. His last scene was peak Batman

@PlusUltra - SPOILERS:

Keaton's Batman dies a pathetic and pointless death by crashing into Zod's shields accomplishing literally nothing.
But don't worry, he comes back minutes later, only to be beaten and die a pathetic pointless death but this time "permanetly".

These writers and producers clearly understand and care about these characters and the fans who enjoy them!

@AmazingFILMporg - Keaton goes down swinging in peak Batman form. Remember, he’s fighting Kryptonian’s without Kryptonite. Context is important.

@PlusUltra - Haha, that's exactly what happened! haha

The movie went through some effort in getting us invested in those characters and then they're wiped from existence (i guess). There was hardly any reflection on their impact to Barry's journey by the end, they were just forgotten about.. Keaton was still cool though.

How does he die any differently than that?

@AmazingFILMporg - I watch (some) of it on a stream and it was pretty dreadful. I had to skip around because it was pretty much non stop cringe and just ugly to look at imo.

This is gonna flop massively.
FireandBlood
FireandBlood - 6/15/2023, 10:50 AM
@Feralwookiee - They die, but (god, I can’t remember what they called it in the movie), it was a ‘canon event’. It was inevitable. The point was never for Keaton to kill a bunch of Krptonians, it was to buy time, and yeah, he failed. They all did. That was the point of the climax. The emotional anchor of the movie wasn’t Flash’s relationship with Batman or Supergirl, it was the relationship with his mum.
UniqNo
UniqNo - 6/15/2023, 10:52 AM
@PlusUltra - Those quiter human moments were done nicely, but in the context of the film and the heavy marketing with those characters also in the centre, they were really just wasted.

Again, i'll admit, everytime Keaton was on screen was cool (aside from those forced lines of nostalgia) and his combat was pretty well done (thought we know it's a double).

Just all the wonky stuff and writing just overshadowed all the good stuff when looking at it as a whole.

Thing were clearly chopped and screwed as a result to the issues with DC's ongoing changes and it just shows. The movie really doesn't look like it was worth all the money that was spent on it.

All those apparant celebrity endorsements are false. I don't believe for one second Cruise liked that movie. I bet he said that so they wouldn't change release dates again! lol.
FireandBlood
FireandBlood - 6/15/2023, 10:53 AM
@UniqNo - But the movie didn’t though, did it? Flash went to Keaton because he’s a Batman. Kara was barely in the movie. They were there to help Barry save this timeline, until Barry realised with or without them, he couldn’t. Any investment people have with either Batman in this movie comes from their prior appearances, that’s why they were used instead of Thomas Wayne
UniqNo
UniqNo - 6/15/2023, 10:59 AM
@PlusUltra - Eh, i just didn't like it the same way as you i guess.

They could of had a moment of Barry reflecting on their sacrifice at the end, but they shoe horned in another cameo to end the movie on giving another slap in the face to the character growth of Keaton's Batman being a recluse, to quickly changing his mind to help and then dieing twice.

And for the writing and the plot... Barry apparantly comes to the realisation that changing even the smallest things has huge impact...but he still ended up changing where there cans were for his dad....like... what was the point in his growth if he just did the same thing again?? eh.. i dunno bro, but i'm glad you enjoyed it.

It's not the worse super hero movie, but it's definitley not the best. Flash made me realise how well MoS was done (aside from the third act).

I assume we’ll get a complete cut later down the line, even if it makes no sense Id like to see a version with all Affleck/Keaton/Calle/Cavill/Clooney scenes restored. The whole movie is a mess already anyways, a complete edition would even get me to watch it in theatres.
