While speaking with The Directors Guild of America, David Nutter, the director of the pilots for Arrow, Smallville and the Red Wedding episode of Game of Thrones, revealed that he would be directing the pilot episode for The CW's Flash pilot. Nutter also talked about his history with comic books.

"My father died when I was a year-and-a-half old and my mother raised me as a single parent. I lived in West Virginia and the one thing I used to do as a child was buy comic books. I would cut out the characters, and their angles, and how they looked and so forth, and create my own characters for these stories. I’d have Captain America, or Iron Man, or The Flash, or Superman, and I’d create my own stories."

As long as it is fairly close to canon and resembles the entertainment value that Arrow provides, I am game! Ready for this now...too bad we have to wait.
Supes17 - 1/18/2014, 3:54 PM
Nutter? I hardly know 'er!
Ignition - 1/18/2014, 4:06 PM
He is definitely one of the better directors on TV for genre stuff.
Kurne - 1/18/2014, 4:07 PM
Nice (announcement) strategy...

Anyway, hope he can cope with The CW rules.

List of directed pilots

The first sixteen pilots that Nutter directed have all gone to series.[3] This streak was broken in 2011 when CBS chose to not pick up The Doctor.

Millennium (1996)
Sleepwalkers (1997)
Roswell (1998)
Dark Angel (1999)
Smallville (2001)
Without a Trace (2002)
Dr. Vegas (2003)
Tarzan (2003)
Jack & Bobby (2004)
Supernatural (2005)
Traveler (2006)
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2007)
The Mentalist (2008)
Eastwick (2009)
Chase (2010)
The Doctor (2011)
Arrow (2012)
The Advocates (2013)

Good choice in my opinion.
DaenerysTargaryen - 1/18/2014, 4:17 PM
Red Wedding Director you say? Well if this show doesn't end with the entire cast being brutally murdered in front of our horrified eyes while the villains win then I'm going to be disappointed.

Nah....good choice though. ;)

This isn't new news, but it's not a bad refresher. Nutter is awesome, his work speaks for itself.

TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 1/18/2014, 5:27 PM
Wait, he directed the Sarah Connor Chronicles pilot? Loved it! Got my approval.... Now we wait for the suit.

As long as we get a costume, and none of that "Smallville" bullsh@t, I'm cool with it.

Hope they tell us soon when they're filming. Man I have a feeling this TV show is going to be great. Hope they don't use Captain Cold for awhile though, I feel like him and Reverse-Flash are Barry's arch enemies.

GUYS, I REALLY WANT MERLYN TO CAMEO ON AN EPISODE. WHAT DO Y'ALL THINK?

It' be [frick]ing amazing to see the Flash #26 of the New 52 be adapted into an episode too.

JediPhilosopher - 1/18/2014, 7:32 PM
I'd like something to be good that comes from WB...
JediPhilosopher - 1/18/2014, 7:53 PM
but it doesn't seem likely. But we'll see.
mgeoff88 - 1/18/2014, 7:53 PM
I enjoyed both of those pilots so this sounds good to me.

I sure could go for these right now:

;P

Can this be done well on television? I guess we will see, apparently the last attempt was negative
DrunkenNukem - 1/18/2014, 8:01 PM
YES!!!!!!!! good choice for THE FLASH !!!!!!!!!!
EtriganTheDemon - 1/18/2014, 8:01 PM
Surprise, surprise...
BatmanRobinNightwing - 1/18/2014, 8:07 PM
@jedi theres plenty of good stuff from WB like MoS,TDK trilogy,Arrow and soon to be flash series and MoS2. So it is very likely this will be good too. Unless the serious tone of the movies is too much for you to handle id say theres plenty of good things from WB/DC. But incase it is too much for you id just stick with the comedy and kid friendly marvel movies
BatmanRobinNightwing - 1/18/2014, 8:09 PM
Cant wait for this. Imagine Arrow and Flash back to back on Wednesdays, that is gonna be epic. Bring on the Flash
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 1/18/2014, 8:15 PM
BRing it!
MercwithMouth - 1/18/2014, 8:17 PM
If they can keep the CW teeny-drama crap out of this show, I may give it a chance. Not a DC fan, but always open to something new. And Flash is much cooler than Green Arrow.
soforizo - 1/18/2014, 8:19 PM
I really hope they can pull this on a cw budget. So much can go wrong. I do love a great tv show over movies as a storytelling medium, but not all cb characters can be done well enough. Fingers crossed.
ManDeth - 1/18/2014, 8:33 PM
Who cares about 2 hours of film that WB can't bring until 2016. By the time Superman Vs Batman hits we will have had 66 episodes of Arrow and 44 of Flash.

SuperCat - 1/18/2014, 8:37 PM
Lol!!!! @ Brandon

Couldn't have said it better.
Dev7 - 1/18/2014, 8:39 PM
I just hope they know that flash comes out in the daytime too and not make him appear only at night like the 90's series. I'm sure he'll be mostly night bound in his appearances on the show. Typical WB nonsense sticking to the tried and true formula of dark themed shows.
Ranger14 - 1/18/2014, 8:43 PM
I have really liked the little bit that I have seen of Grant Gustin on Arrow. I think he will do a great job as Barry Allen and The Flash.
DelTorite - 1/18/2014, 8:49 PM
You had me at Red Wedding.
JR - 1/18/2014, 8:57 PM
so thats the DC news after pulling the plug on the Bats Supes project.......
MarkV - 1/18/2014, 8:59 PM
I'll try to catch this.
