CONFIRMED: Dr. Manhattan's Penis is in the Watchmen Movie!

Three cheers for atomic blue penises! Director Zack Snyder is staying so true to the source material in his Watchmen adaptation that he WILL indeed be exposing Dr. Manhattan's manhood to unassuming movie-goers. Good for him.
The shocking confirmation about this hotly debated penial possibility came yesterday, during the question and answer period at a special preview of the movie at Warner Bros studios.

Attendees were shown various scenes from the movie that totaled around a half hour of footage. All reports are saying that it was a very positive experience, afterwhich Snyder did a Q&A session where these key points about the movi were confirmed:

- Starting with the most shocking revelation... Dr. Manhattan’s blue private parts will definitely be shown in the film--ending much phallic speculation.

- The current length of the film is 2 hours and 43 minutes. This is more in line with what the director wanted, so that's good.

- There will be a DVD version of the film that includes the "Tales of the Black Freighter" comic-within-a-comic which will be in the film. This will NOT be in the theatrical release.

- Sequel/Prequel DEBUNKED! The rumors are false.

- Billy Crudup, the actor who plays Dr. Manhattan, will indeed be voicing the character in his unchanged speaking voice. Mr. Snyder is happy with Billy's voice as is, and explained that he figured an all-powerful god-like being would just keep his normal voice anyway.

Watchmen hits theaters everywhere March 6, 2009.

I applaud Zack Snyder for his committment to keeping the Watchmen as close to the comics as possible. He's a rarity in Hollywood, and a true fan. Too many directors want to "put their stamp" on these movies, and others use the excuse that they are "adapting for movie-going audiences" in order to change popular comic book characters and storylines. It is a much greater challenge to make a movie that mimics the comics exactly, and Snyder is pulling it off nicely. The movie that couldn't be made is being made the way it should be, and Zack will be rewarded for his efforts.

I love how Snyder is sticking to the comic. I'm still amazed by the trailer when I saw The Dark Knight at the IMAX. I can't wait till this movie comes out. I can only hope for the best for this film. I just hope that Moore's curse doesn't come true. This movie is going to be unbelievable.

Although its a relatively small detail (no penis joke intended), i find this news encouraging as it means he's truthful in his efforts to make it as close to the source material as possible which is only way watchmen can be done.

The sequel/prequel rumours i heard alongside a possible blade runner sequel, i think both were jokes or false rumours to spark reaction but with such things you can never count them out as you can guarentee some ignorant studio exec has money signs in their eyes and sees such ideas as gold.
