UPDATED: Beyonce Wonder Woman Announcement a Hoax

Ex-Contributor "Resurrection" has come clean and admitted in the comments section that he made this story up to impress his girlfriend. The fraud has cost him his account, but by the looks of the "confirm or debunk" votes, he didn't fool you saavy CBMers.

In case you're still interested in his early attempt at an April Fools article, it is below. BTW, any submissions of "fake news" except on 4/1 will get you banned from CBM, so please, no copy cats.

Just got back from a press conference tonight with Beyonce and she spoke of a few upcoming movie projects. The last one on her list was Wonder Woman!

Yes, Wonder Woman! She said she has to meet up with the writers and directors in a couple months and things will start to pick up by mid-2010 for a late 2011 release. She said the writers were Stuart Beatti and David Elliot, the guys that wrote GI Joe: Rise of Cobra and the director was John Moore, the guy that directed Max Payne.

	I'm not as worried about beyonce as I am about the writers, I mean come on G.I. Joe!? I've never seen her act but wonder woman is one role where I don't think race is that important, sure she was white in the comics but she's a member of a mythical race so it wouldn't be terrible to retcon her a bit. As to the issue of why I am apposed to marijuana, let me say this: I am not only a military man, but also a law enforcement officer. Being that the use, purchase and distribution of marijuana is currently illegal, I am obligated to be apposed to it. I do not mean to disrespect people who choose to partake in it's consumption, but I do not respect the fact that people are willing to openly brag about using it. It is against the law. If you are a police officer (my grandfather was cheif of police for 20 years, my cousin is the Captain, and my Uncle is a deputy). You always have to uphold that image. Its important. I also hold that true with the use of alcohol, which is every bit as harmful and dangerous as pot, and probably alot more so. So many people ignore the dangers of alcohol because it is legal, but my father was killed on the side of the road, and alcohol was to blame. Of course I can also weigh the consequences. A good cop, imo, isnt worried about marijuana busts as much as they are about protecting people from killers and rapists and violant crimes etc. It isnt worth it to bust a nice family over a bag a pot, when there are peple smoking crack and shooting each other just on the other side of the tracks. I think its time to be open to different concepts and imaginings of our iconic heros and heroines. So, while Beyonce is beautiful and would be a great look for WW (bad acting aside), I personally think the absolute best option to play WW is... SERENA WILLIAMS! Just look at her physicality and athletic ability. Is she not built like a "mythical" Amazon would be? She could lean out, and imagine fight scenes with her on screen against robots, or Ares?... And yes, I'd probably have her rock some dreds in the movie, not straightened or curly hair. Probably would have her rock a futuristic version of the classic JLA skirted uniform for the movie and then transition into a full bodysuit of light armor. That would be tight son!... 	You have a point Plinehas, changing a character to fit an ethnic demographic is wrong. My stance has always been that if you're upset that there aren't any characters that look like you then you should go out and create some that represent you and your culture and not retcon another character to fit your needs. To bend a character out of his or her true self is not only demeaning to the character but also to yourself for by doing so you don't really get a black or asian or latin character you only get a hero with a different skin color but with out the traits that make your own ethnicity unique. That said I'm less disturbed by wonder woman's race than the director and writers. I can deal with miscasting but the other stuff is inexcusible you need a good director and an excellent script for WW. In many ways WW is similar to Thor in that it should have an epic and other worldly feel, however it cannot be to far removed from humanity. It essentially needs a perfect script and a classically trained director something that the above proposal is lacking, which is a larger problem than casting. 	All I can say is Serena Williams has been a Wonder Woman on the court, she could easily wield a sword instead of a racket in the movie. So if the Greeks can use blacks and Ethiopians and Nubians as the models for their gods and goddess, I think Serena could do Wonder Woman justice. BTW, just because most of our iconic characters are predominantly white (which I don't have a problem with), just like the Greeks, there was probably/possibly a person of color who inspired the creator of the hero.
