Singer Wants Another Crack At X-Men

OK, we all know that Singer wants to continue his quest to destroy our favorite comic book heroes (Singer will be forever known as the man that gave us Routh-Reeves as the Stalker Superman). What you may not know is that he wants to "trick" you into believing that what he's doing is for the fans or the love of the characters.

"'I love Hugh Jackman. I love the cast," he said, referring to the Australian actor who plays Wolverine.'"

Where's the love for the fans?!

"He said he likes to 'trick audiences into thinking they're seeing fireworks, but they're learning about themselves and listening to what I have to say.'"

Give us an actual story for Pete's sake! I enjoyed Ratner's "Last Stand"" so much more than Singer's "X-Men" silliness. I'd love to see him return...NOT this fool!

Wow, you would rather see Ratner come in than see Singer return? Granted, I don't think Singer made the "perfect" X-men film (I don't think anyone could), but it was a hell of a lot better than The Last Stand. Yeah, it had more action, but that couldn't make up for the abortion that was a storyline! The dialogue was terrible.

My feeling is that Singer created one damn good film in X2 and I would be happy to see him come back over Ratner. To each his/her own though.

indeed

Really?! Ratner completely bastardized the last X-Men movie. Ratner is a horible director and a complete douchebag on top of that. I can't see how anyone would want a hack director that thought Vinnie Jones as the Juggernaut was a good idea. You are insane.
SlaughterHouse - 10/11/2009, 6:42 PM
@SlaughterHouse...wether he's a "douchebag" or not, i still enjoyed his x-men more than singers. i didn't have a problem with juggernaut as much as i did with, say, senator kelly-fish or that stupid machine (talk about insanity)...or night crawler from x2...true, last stand had issues, but which of them didn't?!

@ecksmanfan...was the dialogue any better in ANY other x-men, really?! Storm, in particularly, had bad dialogue in all three! it's a comic book movie NOT shakespeare...some things i can forgive easier than others...and putting it simply, i was more entertained by last stand...
MisterUnderhill - 10/11/2009, 7:04 PM
I will give you that...Storm's dialogue was not good. The entertainment value was higher in X3, mainly due to the fact there was more action. The last 1/3 of the film was one giant battle, which I like, but the rest of the film was garbage. I don't care who you are, you do not kill off Prof. X like that! (And yes I know he tranferred himself to another body, but does that mean that if we have an X4, do we see some other dude with Patrick Stewart"s voice?) You do not kill off Cyclops like that and the character rape of Phoenix is inexcusable. Done!

agreed

Honestly, all three were uber-meh. They've done a total of 4 X movies and none of them were impressive.
MultiPurposePoni - 10/11/2009, 10:46 PM
Muti - the voice of reson, finally! I have to agree with you, "all three were uber-meh" - that's the understatement of the YEAR! SlaughterHouse, you say that "Ratner completely bastardized the last X-Men movie", but I would argue Singer did it first! He openly admits he:

1. Does not read nor has ever read a comic book,
2. Doesn't LIKE comic books, and...
3. Based his enitre knowledge of X-Men lore on a CARTOON!

Talk about a lazy [explitive] not doing his homework! Thor director Kenneth Branagh (who is known more for his Shakespear work than comic knowledge) not only delved into the ENTIRE history of the Norse God but also into a lot of the Marvel universe as well, just to get a better understanding of the character and his enviroment. Will the hard work pay off? We'll see. But in the meantime, I'm willing to bet it'll be better than the 4 POS X-movies that have come out so far...

As much as I didn't like X3, for obvious reasons, at least we actually saw a damn fight.

And, in my opinion, the Danger Room scene in X3 was kick @$$!

Singer doesn't know how to do an action movie and Ratner doesn't know how tell a coherent X-Men story. How about a director that's an ACTUAL X-Men fan? One can't be that hard to find.
MultiPurposePoni - 10/12/2009, 8:46 AM
Multi - IF Fox is smart, they'll get TWO directors to do the next X-men film: one to direct the plot (say JJ Abrams, I liked his vision and pace in 'Star Trek'), and one to direct the action (give it a Hong Kong flavor, get someone like Donnie Yen)!
loganoneil - 10/12/2009, 11:29 AM
Singer just wants @$$ crack..lol :P
teabag - 10/13/2009, 5:10 AM
@logan: Dude, didn't I already warn you about making too much sense? If the wrong person hears that we might ACTUALLY get a good X-Men movie, and no one wants that to happen
MultiPurposePoni - 10/13/2009, 6:38 PM
Yoliked Ratners X-men movie better? Even for a guy like me thats cold!
