We've been hearing about Black Widow's alternate death scene from an earlier cut of Avengers: Endgame for a while now, and the full sequence is now available to watch online.

In the theatrical version, Natasha (Scarlett Johansson) manages to sacrifice herself to gain the Soul Stone on Vormir after incapacitating Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), but things play out very differently here. Widow still ultimately makes the jump, but not before taking heavy fire from some Sakaaraan warriors sent by Thanos to retrieve the stone.

In the emotional final moments, Nat saves Clint from by blasting his attacker, before coming to the realization that she must plunge to her death upon seeing The Mad Titan arrive in the background.

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo previously revealed that they decided to reshoot this sequence because they wanted Nat's noble sacrifice to be less convoluted and "awkward," and felt having just her and Clint in the scene added more weight to it.

Hulk and Dum-E in Tony Stark's Lab

Post image

We'll start with a shot of Professor Hulk getting annoyed with Dum-E while working in Tony Stark's lab.

This is a deleted scene from Avengers: Endgame, and while we don't have all the details of what the sequence would have entailed, it's believed that some of Stark's earlier Iron Man armors would have been involved.

Hank and Janet Pym

A shot of the de-aged Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer from Ant-Man and The Wasp.

In this scene, we would have learned that The Pyms were more directly involved in the accident that resulted in Hannah John-Kamen's Ghost developing her unstable powers than the theatrical version of the movie would have us believe.

A look at the pair in their costumes as the original Ant-Man and The Wasp.

"Smart Hulk" In Infinity War

Post image

As we know, Professor Hulk was originally going to make his debut in Infinity War during the battle with Cull Obsidian, and this pre-VFX shot shows Mark Ruffalo interacting with Scarlett Johansson.

In the scene, Black Widow would have attempted to clam Hulk down with a lullaby before realizing that the Green Goliath and Bruce Banner had merged into one.

Hawkeye

Post image

Although he didn't wind up appearing in the theatrical release of the movie, Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye was originally supposed to feature in Infinity War.

This is an unfinished test-shot of Barton protecting Vision from some Outriders.

Bad Zemo

Post image

Although Helmut Zemo went to great lengths to get his hands on the Hydra code diary in Captain America: Civil War, the character was originally going to commit a far more heinous act to acquire the book.

Worse Zemo

We would have caught up with Zemo at a black market auction for illegal weapons, where he would have used a gas to kill everyone in attendance before stealing his prize.

Odin on Earth

Post image

We don't have many details on this deleted scene, but it seems there was going to be a sequence involving Odin (Anthony Hopkins) paying a visit to his son (Chris Hemsworth) in Thor: The Dark World.

Captain Marvel Stand-In

Post image

It's been well documented that Joss Whedon wanted to introduce Captain Marvel in Avengers: Age of Ultron before Kevin Feige nixed the idea, but a scene featuring a stand-in for the character was filmed, and we have our first look at the mysterious actress here.

What we got was more intimate but this is cool. Well shot and the score complements it very well.

@BlackBeltJones - Cameron did a wonderful job with that scene.... for someone to just threaten 6 people and break one guys arm , to just turn around and run right back towards them ... that's real fear right there lol

@knocturnalzen10 - Oh man, that scene is beautiful. After all this time, the effects, the story, the acting, it all still holds up.

@SmokingMan - Absolute all-timer movie. Cameron did that and Aliens both in the span of 5 years, insane.

@tmp3 - T2 and Aliens are two of my absolute all time favs. They still hold up even today.

@BlackBeltJones - yeah. In general the theatrical version was better. It was an actual sacrifice first of all instead of here where shes basically already dead and going "might as well".

Also it makes more sense considering the exact wording saying you have to sacrifice "what you love". In the theatrical version technically clint dropped her meaning this parameter was met

@tmp3 - Prime Cameron was unstoppable

I selfishly wish this stayed in because it’s a damn shame Widow didn’t get one last action sequence, but they did make the right choice

I agree with most here about the scene they used being more intimate. This scene creates lots of questions like how’d Clint get the stone and how did he get away with Thanos being right behind him.

@h8red - Presumably there would be another scene that was cut which explains that

@h8red - Uhhhh he would have been transported to the shallow pool far enough away from the mountain top. He would then have used the quantum tech to go back to 2023. Infinity War showed the viewer that after someone dies the person receiving the stone wakes up in a shallow pool of water far enough away from the mountain.

@mehhhh - True, but how would Natasha know that Hawkeye would be transported after she dies?

I love the way it was done. It was like your third liners stepping up at a crucial time.

To be honest, I think both are very good in their own right. Either way, the acting and the score in both is amazing nonetheless

OT: Eternals began shooting before script was done.

I'd read rumors (Dan Richtman) that the movie was being rushed.

@Battabing - It's very strange how you seem to take so much glee whenever there's even a morsel of negative news about the MCU, but then completely brush any negative news from the Distinguished Competition under the rug. Yes, very strange indeed...
Spidey91
Spidey91 - 4/9/2020, 3:49 PM
@Battabing - and? Iron Man famously didn't have a finished script.
Marvel is also known for kinda winging it with a few aspects until they find something they think works. That's how we get articles like this with deleted/scrapped scenes that were filmed but changed later that essentially rewrite entire portions of the movie.
Also, the movie's been delayed anyways so whatever "rush" they were in doesn't really matter now because it's not making that date anyway.
Spidey91
Spidey91 - 4/9/2020, 3:55 PM
Also, the script changes all the damn time well into filming, and there is almost always reshots to change/fix things.
As for the sets and costumes: CGI. Whatever is missing/subject to change they can just fix it. Nobody noticed the quantum suits in Endgame were CG until they told us.

@tmp3 - In this time of hardship I'd rather we not fan the flames of the fanboy war...yet at the same time

Battabing
Battabing - 4/9/2020, 3:57 PM
@tmp3 - Where did I give the impression that I was taking glee? If I took glee from this, I'd have put the rumor up on the board when I read it a few weeks ago.

Stop being so triggered.
Battabing
Battabing - 4/9/2020, 3:59 PM
@Spidey91 - That was Iron Man. Feige is a bit more polished, ten years later. And yes, they do have more time now to smooth things out.
Spidey91
Spidey91 - 4/9/2020, 3:45 PM
Well, I can see why they didn't use it, holy sh*t. Natasha being shot almost dead is....tough to watch.
The scene does create the continuity/story problem of Clint getting away with Thanos and his army behind him. It also removes the Thanos surprise attack factor when he's already in the present on Vormir instead of arriving through time travel. Basically for this scene to happen they would have to structurally change the final act.
