First reported by News Of The World, the film crew for the TDKR are seeking permission to land a huge military plane, called the Hercules on a major road in Scotland. The road is the A9, located in the highlands. A source described the scene as a pivotal moment in the movie, where Batman himself would land a burning plane on the highway. The Inverness Courier has your first look and description of the plane that would be used in the dramatic stunt!

The massive military aircraft, which flew into Inverness Airport on Saturday morning, has a wingspan of more than 40 metres and is almost 30 metres long.

Transport Scotland yesterday confirmed the production company had identified the A9 as a potential location but could not say which section. A spokeswoman insisted it was too early to comment about a potential closure but stressed any disruption to motorists would be a primary concern.

"The production team have made initial enquiries into the possibility of using part of the road network for a movie location," she said.

The plane which would be used in the scene was formerly flown by the US air force. Yesterday it was parked at Inverness Airport in front of the former Highland Airways company hangar.

The BBC did their own investigating into the matter and came up with a few interesting quotes.
However, while not naming the film involved, Northern Constabulary said it had been asked to assist a crew with filming in Badenoch and Strathspey.

A police spokeswoman said: "We have been in contact with a private film company to assist with traffic management during private filming in the Badenoch and Strathspey area."

Scottish government agency, Transport Scotland, said it had been approached by the Batman movie's production company about using roads at locations across Scotland.
