The wait was over and the first Day of Wizard World Comic Con had begun. Nerds, geeks and steampunk freaks flooded into the America's Center today waiting to experience what was, for many, their first convention. Heroes and villains alike (Darth Maul for example) came out to shake hands and greet the children as they waited in line. Once the wait was over, it was time for the show to begin. Towers of t-shirts, Chewbacca and Superman robes, thousands of rows of comic books and props lined the aisles. There was even an apperance from R2-D2. Both local and well known comic book artists alike graced the event (I got an autograph from Batman TAS artirst Rick Burchett) but the spotlight, of course, was on the more famous guests. Lou Ferrigno, better known as the original Incredible Hulk, had been promoting the event all day and was the first to start signing autographs and taking photos (which were a pretty penny). As the day went on and the costumes started to come out, the other guests made their appearances as well. Jason David Frank (Power Rangers), Henry Winkler(Children's Hospital/Waterboy/Happy Days) , Billy Dee Williams(Batman/Star Wars), James Marsters(Torchwood/Smallville/Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Juliet Landau(Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel/Ben 10: Alien Force), John Shea(Mutant X/Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman), James Hong(Kung-Fu Panda, Big Trouble in Little China), and returning home WWE Superstar Randy Orton all came to St. Louis to make the day of many fans. I was fortunate enough to meet, talk and shake hands with most of them today (John Shea and James Marsters may be the nicest guys ever!). The first day was pretty successful and with Stan Lee, Dean Cain and Tom Felton coming Saturday, including the return of many of today's guests, day 2 of the Wizard World Comic Con in St. Louis is sure to be a success. Stay Tuned!
