Collider Videos recently caught up with Dave Bautista to discuss his movie
My Spy, and during that interview, the
Guardians of the Galaxy star confirmed that director James Gunn has an idea for a spinoff revolving around Drax and Mantis.
"What I would like to do is honestly, and this is not my idea, I'm stealing this idea, but James Gunn had the idea to do a Drax/Mantis movie," the actor revealed when asked about his Marvel Cinematic Universe future.
"And that's what I would be up for, because there's just too much fun there."
Now, Gunn has taken to Twitter to confirm that this
is an idea he's suggested, and that it's one that
"was never ruled out."
While the filmmaker is currently busy working on
The Suicide Squad, it will now be interesting to see whether a spinoff like this is something Marvel Studios considers once he returns to them to work on
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. After all, it would work nicely on a platform like Disney+!
